Answer:	Two small wood screws are provided and it’s recommended that it be mounted to a tree or the side of a building. It could possibly be mounted to a pole but may not be sturdy enough.

Answer:	There are many variables to this answer. In theory the box can house 40 plus bats, however, colonies of 20 plus are more realistic.

Answer:	I put the house on the side of the garage when I put excluders on the house. To date, no bats have moved in. But from signs of them on the side of the house, yes they may have dropping accumulate on the ground below the entrance. For that reason I put a board between the bat house and the exterior wall of my garage to space the house about an 1-1/2" out from the wall, but like I said I've no residents yet to prove my theory.

Answer:	It will be okay for PA, but the dark stained version (follow the link below) will increase the chances for bats to during cool seasons because the darker color draws more heat from the sun. Answer:	Bat poo is an excellent fertilizer. It's known as guano and may be bought at plant nurseries. It's rather expensive. Like worm castings, you only need a small amount per plant. I'm a gardener and would consider it a benefit for my garden. I just wouldn't handle it with my bare hands.
Question:	where do the bats go in winter? i live in maryland
Answer:	Some bats hibernate during the winter, usually in caves or mines (or attics), while others migrate to warmer areas where there would be more insects on which to feed. If you have the internet, search for bats that hibernate or migrate. There is plenty of info on bats out there and they are good to have around.
Question:	I just read that cedar bat house being aromatic wood need to air out for 2 to 4 years for the oils to dry and dissipate before bats move in. True
Answer:	I think 2-4 years is a little excessive, though I have read research which indicates that the smell of cedar may deter in-habitation. It is for that reason that I also offer a select grade pine version. The select grade lumber has no knots, therefore no sap and no odor. My cedar bat houses are made of western red cedar, not eastern red (aromatic) cedar. Aromatic cedar is what is commonly used to line closets and chests to deter moths and has a much stronger odor. Western Red Cedar does have an odor, and may take a few months to "air out". The vast majority of bat houses sold commercially are made of some sort of cedar, and do successfully attract and house bats. Kind of a long winded answer, if you are still interested in avoiding cedar check out my pine version. I'm currently only offering pine with a dark stain finish which will work for most U.S. climates. Answer:	Yes it came with instructions. But basically try to hang on a house, tree or post, at least 12 feet off the ground, away from branches that predators could use. Away from bright lights and noise. Water like a pond or bird bath ideal nearby. Should get at least a few hours of sunlight, South or east facing ideal. They will defecate so keep that in mind... Answer:	No.
Question:	In the units I received, only the front chamber is vented. Should there be vents cut (or holes drilled) for the 2nd and 3rd chambers
Answer:	Depends on type -- but I'd say about 6-7 or so per chamber comfortably ~ so about 20 for a 3 chamber house - which is pretty great. Another reply said "50-200" - no way. No way. You're looking at about 20.

Answer:	9 1/4 " w x 15" l it has a typical picture frame metal hanger on the back nail or screw

Answer:	If you live in a very damp area you might look into sealing the outer wood. Overall sturdy product and works well on the east coast.

Answer:	Dear Barbara, the bat house should be mounted about 8-12 feet (2.5-3.7m) high in a sheltered spot with direct sunlight.

Answer:	I haven't yet. I bought 2 to try to relocate the bats we have but they haven't tried the houses yet. I also purchased the spray.

The Kenley Bat Shelter is designed to host a small bat colony. It's hand crafted from premium cedar wood and varnished to make it weatherproof. It can be additionally painted or sprayed to change the colour.

Where to install your bat house

The Kenley Bat Shelter comes with a mounting hook at the back and information about bat preferences. Bats fly to their roosts, so the house should be at least 12 feet above the ground. Choose a spot that's sheltered from the wind yet gets direct sunlight for 4 or more hours a day. Please bear in mind that installing a bat house does not mean you'll see bats. Bats are wild animals and it may take several months for local bats to discover your bat house. Never disturb roosting bats.
