Answer: 1 hinged lid. This cooler fell apart on me though. Had to get a refund. The internal tub (plastic) delaminated from the stainless steel outer shell.

Answer: I bought it as a cooler for my husband while he grills. I guess you could, if you packed it full of ice & then put ice cream on top, it might work. It’s not sealed well enough for ice cream w/out ice.
