Answer: I cook on a Kamado grill and check the stone temp with an IR thermometer. This thing routinely gets into the mid-600's if not higher and I haven't had an issue yet (knock on wood). My guess is they only rate/guarantee it to that so if you cook higher they can say you weren't following directions which is why it broke. Of all my stones it is definitely the thinnest and only one I'd say feels a bit on the fragile side, but I've used it either as a stone to cook on or a deflector in a 500*+ kamado easily a couple dozen times now and no problems.

Answer: It sounds like your dough is too wet. Try giving the dough a really heavy dusting of flour before putting it through the cutter. I found that when I make the angel hair it helps to sprinkle the cutter blades with flour too.

Question: No instructions. How do you use and care for a pizza stone, grill or oven
Answer: I use it in the oven never tried it on the grill and I just use soap and water to clean it . But there are a few stains that I can’t remove which is fine by me.

Answer: While you are preheating your stone in the oven, you can set your store-bought frozen pizza on your counter and allow it to thaw. It will be a little flimsy, so after placing cornmeal or flour on your stone as directed, use a long pancake turner to place your pizza on the stone. If you have enough room, you could always use a pan and place the whole shebang on top of the stone. Remember the warnings that an ice cold frozen food item MIGHT crack your stone.

Answer: Think of seasoning like this: if a pan says it is "seasoned" by the manufacturer, that simply means it is "food grade anti-rust protection". You can use the cleaning mode on your oven to remove this layer and apply your own although it will heat up your house and stink it up as well with burnt oil. Your best bet is to take some sand paper to it and smooth it out so it's not so rough to remove some of the "seasoning" applied by the manufacturer and then reseason it with whatever you'd like. You can use pretty much anything you have on hand although I'd recommend something cheap but with a high smoke point like peanut oil or canola oil. I personally prefer peanut because when it burns it tends to smell sweet and canola tends to smell fishy. Aside from that if the above paragraph sounds like too much work, just start using it out of the box after washing it well and you'll never have to worry about it. The more you use it the better the seasoning will get. You can use wood, plastic or metal spoons or spatulas but I'd avoid plastic because it'll melt on ya. It will be strong like glass once it's seasoned properly. I personally use a sander on any new cast iron that isn't pre-polished. I know it will wear down over time but I just hate the rough finish it has and prefer to get it broken in quicker.

How to use Pizza Stone

There is no need to soak the stone in water before use.



1. Pre-heat it to 500° F (260° C) for about 30 minutes.

2. Dust the back of the pizza peel with cornmeal, which works well for transferring food to the baking stone.

3. Transfer the pizza to the top of the baking stone using our pizza spatula.

4. Check in halfway to ensure the pizza is not overheated.

5. Once the crust is brown, remove the pizza from stone. Enjoy your pizza.



How to Clean a Pizza Stone

1. Let the stone completely cool off before washing.

2. Use scraper, brush or nylon pad to remove excess food.

3. Hand wash with warm water for daily cleaning.

4. To remove deeper stains, wash the stone with mixing baking soda and water.

5. Dry the stone in an oven completely after cleaning.

6. Store the stone in a clean & dry place.

Question: can this be used on a open gas ring
Answer: Ditto to what Susan said. A pizza stone is not really made of stone, otherwise it would crack under the heat. Also, this pizza “stone” is hard and heavy, which is suitable for It’s purpose. You won’t be disappointed.
Question: can you place dough directly on stone? If so, how do you make it not stick
Answer: cordierite and claims over 550ºF
Question: Can it be used in a outdoor pizza oven
Answer: Its not necessary nor recommended. The stone will gradually darken with use. I always put cornmeal on my peel so that the pizza slides off easily onto the stone. Some residual cornmeal will be left on the stone which can easily be wiped off after it cools, but may also contribute to some darkening. Be sure to pre-heat the stone in a 500 - 550 degree oven for at least 20 minutes.
Question: The picture show the thickness as 6.3 inches. It’s 6 inches thick

Answer: Probably but it is designed to be used on a gas bbq where the bbq is covered so you get heat circulating from above and below. I don’t think it would work well on a gas hob. You can use it in a domestic oven though instead of a bbq

Question: Does anyone have specific feedback on cleaning? When I did the classic "hot water" approach, it looked like my cast iron was rusted (similar residue
Answer: The trick is to dry cast iron quickly. After washing, place it on a burner and turn on the burner for a short time so the residual water evaporates. That is also the time when I might add a coating of oil then wipe off the excess oil after the pan has cooled. I have been doing this with cast iron pans for a zillion years and these hand-me-down pans will probably outlast the apocalypse. Happy cooking!

Answer: Yes. Any pan bottom that attracts a magnet will work on an induction stove. To avoid scratching the glass cook-top just cut a piece of reusable non-stick oven liner (same as non-stick barbecue/grill liner) and place under the pan when on the stove. WARNING: Just don't go beyond about 70% with the burner setting. I do that ALL the time with perfect cooking results, and NO SCRATCHES! There's a liner here on Amazon that can withstand 500 degrees, while most others are only good for 400 degrees. Go with the 500 degree one.

Answer: How high you cook at will depend on the altitude where you live. Higher altitudes require higher temps. However, the temp should not differ more than 25 degrees. I am a mile high and I cook pizzas at 425 degrees. I like the cheese baked, not just melted and at about 10 minutes, comes out perfectly.
