Answer:	If you look at the options available, one is for the oven thermometer but the other option is for a freezer/refrigerator thermometer.

Answer:	You do not have to calibrate this thermometer, and for that matter, it's sealed, so you can't. What temperature are you trying to measure? Any gauge has a sweet spot, or median reading that it's most accurate at, and this one is in the 300-400 degree range. If you are using it for 100 or 600 degrees, it can be off, but should not be off by 200 degrees. To be sure that it's off, make sure you have two other thermometers and measure a temperature of 350 degrees. If still off, you need a replacement. I hope this helps.

Answer:	Most drug stores keep this type of battery. Also in larger towns there is usually a "Battery Store" such as Batteries & Bulbs, etc.

Answer:	Holding temp is the temp at which food is supposed to be kept at. Example, for cold food FDA standard is 41 degrees. So the holding temp feature on the thermometer is a temp that can be set, in this case, 41 degrees. If the temp rises above 41 degrees the thermometer will start beeping as a warning.
Question:	Can you carry these thermometers through your bag at the airport
Answer:	Hmm, good question, but never had the need to, so sorry can't advise. But, it is very sharp and contains small electronics, could flag a response.

Answer:	This is a very good unit which is very easy to use. The cord is some sort of high temperature rubber/plastic. It is not hurt by my oven door or grill lid. Two pieces of advice gained from experience....1.) Be careful not to overflex the joint between the probe and the cable, and 2.) never expose the cable or probe to open flame. Because of overflexing and fire I ruined two probes. I could not find a way to purchase a replacement probe, and bought complete new units.

Answer:	NO, don't use rubber or cloth tape. You can use glass tape, I think 3M has it or go to a good electric supply store. Call and ask for glass tape it won't burn. LH

Answer:	Lo for me just meant my turkey temp was below the lo temp it starts at. (was a bit frozen) After a while when the turkey cooked and warmed up the thermometer kicked in. I found this out as the same Lo came up after changing batteries.

Answer:	No. You remove the thermometer from the plastic and on the end that does not have the pocket clip you will see a hole with two markings on each side of the hole, you place the needle of the meter into the hole and the plastic cover acts as a way to help balance it on the side of a cup using the ice water calibration method.

Answer:	Two possibilities: 1. Low battery. circuit boards are very sensitive to a slight voltage drop, so fresh batteries will take that possibility out. Also, taking the batteries out and putting them back in would reset a board that just lost it's mind, like turning a (Windows) computer off and on again. 2. Bad temperature prob cord. a damaged cord almost always shows as an irrational readout. Note: cords break frequently, but they are largely interchangeable with the general replacement probes sold at the Walmart all the grilling season long for about $5.

Question:	What is the diameter of the thermometer dial
Answer:	It doesn't say on the thermometer and I no longer have the card it was on. However, it works wonderfully well. There's nothing on the metal that says made in China, so I'm assuming it's American made.

Answer:	This wonderful old fashioned thermometer is designed to be put into a roast or whatever and left there for the entire cooking time. Since I never cook meats or poultry in an oven turned higher than 450 degrees, I really don't know how high a temp. you can safely keep it in for. The gauge on the thermometer goes to 180 degrees which is very well done meat & good for poultry. I would take the thermometer out of the oven when the gauge hits 180 degrees just to be safe.

Answer:	The thermometer is to be inserted into the meat you are cooking. It doesn't matter if you are cooking the meat on a grill or in an oven. It shows the temperature of the meat, not the grill or oven. Hope this helps.

Answer:	No. It's got the red fluid. Colored alcohol, I think.

Answer:	That's a very good question. When I turn my thermometer on, it usually reads the air temp in the kitchen. With that said, boil some water, insert the thermometer and it should read 212 degrees - this is the temperature of boiling water. If it does not read 212, then buy another thermometer!

Answer:	no, that would not be advisable. it is an oven thermometer not a candy thermometer. well,, I guess you put it in hot oil but that would ruin the oil and the thermometer
