3 best portable wifi for camping
Portable WiFi for camping can be a valuable addition to your outdoor cooking and camping experience. It allows you to stay connected, access information, and even stream content while you're in remote locations. Here's what you need to know:
Portable WiFi Devices: There are various portable WiFi devices available for camping, including mobile hotspots, WiFi extenders, and satellite internet systems. These devices provide internet access through cellular networks or satellite signals.
Mobile Hotspots: Mobile hotspots are small devices that create a WiFi network by using a cellular connection. You can connect your devices (such as smartphones, tablets, or laptops) to this network to access the internet. Make sure to check the coverage of your chosen mobile carrier in the camping area before relying on this option.
WiFi Extenders: WiFi extenders are useful if you're camping near a location with existing WiFi access, such as a campground or a cabin. They capture the existing WiFi signal and extend it to reach your campsite. This option is dependent on the availability of WiFi networks in your vicinity.
Satellite Internet Systems: For more remote camping locations with no cellular signal or existing WiFi networks, satellite internet systems are an option. These systems require a satellite dish and modem to establish an internet connection, but they provide reliable connectivity in remote areas.
Data Plans: To use portable WiFi, you'll typically need a data plan from a mobile carrier or satellite internet provider. Ensure that you choose a plan that suits your data usage needs and is compatible with your chosen portable WiFi device.
Battery Life: Portable WiFi devices rely on batteries, so it's essential to consider their battery life. Bring backup power sources like power banks or solar chargers to keep your WiFi device powered throughout your camping trip.
Security: Always use secure connections and passwords to protect your WiFi network while camping. Public WiFi networks, if available, may not be secure, so consider using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) for added security.
Streaming and Entertainment: With portable WiFi, you can stream movies, music, or keep up with outdoor cooking tutorials on YouTube while camping. However, be mindful of your data usage, as streaming can consume a significant amount of data.
Emergency Communication: Having access to the internet can be crucial for emergency situations or for checking weather forecasts while camping. It's a safety precaution to consider.
Terrain and Obstacles: Keep in mind that natural obstacles such as mountains and dense forests can interfere with the strength of your WiFi signal.Position your portable WiFi device in a location with the clearest line of sight to the cellular tower or satellite for the best connectivity.
Incorporating portable WiFi into your camping setup can enhance your overall experience by providing access to information, entertainment, and communication while enjoying outdoor cooking and other camping activities. Just ensure you choose the right device and data plan for your specific needs and camping location.

Question: | Does this actually support 5ghz? the amazon page says a/b/g/n, but then only lists 2.4. 802.11a is 5ghz only |
Answer: | THis picture isn't like the extender I purchased. The one I got is white and was mounted in m y sunroom. However, the electrical plug quit working and I had to move in out in my breezeway. So far so good. Think I will put some kind of protection between it and the north open wall near it. Only time will tell how the exposure affects it. |
Question: | There are two versions of the ac750 device: tl-wr902ac v1 and tl-wr902ac v3. which version is for sale here |

User questions & answers
Question: | Pid or non pid controller |
Answer: | It's PID |
Question: | Your book reads cook a prime rib at 500 degrees for 15 minutes on each side before setting inside temp. for cooking. Isn't this to high. It burnt outi |
Answer: | I am a meat cutter, and I cook rib roasts a lot! 15 minutes on both sides is not long, this is needed to sear the outside, and start rendering out all the heavy fat of a standing rib. I will say that at 500, you will have to watch it! Rib roasts are fatty, high heat will cause flare ups. After that lower the heat, the more you take your time, the better the results. Most smokers, the manuals will tell you, are essentially slow cookers with smoke. Thatâs how they work best. The Davy Crockett can also grill quite well, but itâs a bit different than using a regular grill. This is the nature of most pellet grills Iâve seen. I must add; I love my GMG! It took a little time to learn how itâs best used, but the results have been delicious! |
Question: | Your description lists to temp as 500 but the green mountain grills website says 550. Is that just a typo or is this an older version with less range |
Answer: | Thanks for the message. The Davy Crockett model has a temp range of 150-550. Other GMG grills- Daniel Boone & Jim Bowie, are 150-500. I will make sure our listing is correct and updated. Any other questions please let us know. Thanks, Taylor-ESESstoves |
Question: | Will using the car battery to power the smoker drain the battery |
Answer: | Huh. Yeah it will. However it uses very low amps and will take a long time to drain a battery. A small solar panel can be a very good way to power the Davy Crockett as well. |
