Why can't you use 12V solar panels. The working voltage of 12V solar panels is 18-21V, and the open circuit voltage is 20-24V. It is just a starting voltage. To answer the question if you buy the grid tie inverter with the input range of 10.8 to 30 volts you can use one 100 watt solar panel (VOC of 21.6 solar must be in the input range of the inverter). One 100 watt solar panel is the minimum panels. This is extra information to help you understand. Wiring two 100 watt solar panels in series doubles the VOC and VMP output. If the 100 watt solar panels are wired in series you can see that doubling the VOC (43.2 vdc) and VMP (35.8 vdc) will require the other grid tie inverter that has an input range of DC 20 to 45 volts.
