User questions & answers
Question: | What size is this |
Answer: | 21.30 wide47.05 tallIt's on their website. The measurements listed on this page are the shipping package size. |
Question: | What kind of charge control do I need for this panel |
Answer: | Depends on the power you want to deal with. A higher voltage battery bank will let you deal with more power in the panels since the controllers are amp limited. Just get a controller that will do the voltage. MPPT will get you 15-25% more power from your panels. Also If you are using lithium batteries you need a charger that you can set charging voltages manually. |
Question: | when it says 100 watts, is that per hour, per a number of hours, how does that work |
Answer: | Let's do some quick math, 100 watts in full sunlight on a summer day for 6 hours is 600 watt hours input to a 12 volt 100 amp hour battery. 600 / 12 volts is 50 amp hours. If you have a 100 amp hour battery and your final voltage when the sun goes down is 12 .6 volts you have a somewhat new lead acid battery. At 12.6 volts A new battery will give you all 100 amp hours of it's capacity by the time it reaches 12.0 volts. A 3000 watt inverter at 120 volts produces / uses 25 amps. 25 * 60 mins = 1500 amp hrs * 24 hrs = 36000 amp hours per day to feed the monster. Don't try too cheat the math it has no conscience, I can't afford the batteries yet. The only argument anyone can offer is you don't use it all 24 hours do you?, Bet me! |
Question: | how many panels of 100 watts need to charge baterys to run a 3000 watts inverter?i have a 12 volts system |
Answer: | No wrong answers here because it depends on how many amp hours of battery storage & how much power you use. I’m in NC where we have steady sun light. I am using (2) 100w panels to charge (4) 100amp hour Weize batteries. I am on a building project and use a 3000w inverters to run 12” desalt miter saw, pancake compressor & circular saw. I have power all day & full power the next day |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why is the wire on the pos side so short? I’m having trouble finding branch connectors long enough to connect two panels |
Answer: | Agreed. Makes no sense to have one cable so short. It also makes no sense to have diodes in opposite directions. Connecting 2 panels is a pain in the ass trying to find branch connectors. Renogy geniuses at work. |
Question: | Where are the panels made |
Answer: | their manufacturing video suggest asia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKC3iSrzntQ |
Question: | Can I use this to charge jackery |
Answer: | Absolutely. I charge my Flashfish 300W and it provides for basic lights and equipment use. I can use lights, pump, water heater, printer, laptop and phone all from my daily charge. |
Question: | How do i attach panel to a fabric bimini. i didn’t realize there are not any holes in edges of panel before i purchased |
Answer: | Bought two panels after using cardboard cut-and-tapes to posted dimensions to check fit on bimini. Checked cable route and run length with rope. Received the panels/cables and laid them out on bimini for 2nd fit check, positioned and outlined with chalk. Removed the bimini and a friend sewed two-inch velco hook tape onto the bimini, just inside of the chalk lines while I glued the opposing two inch wide loop tape around the perimeter of the panel bottoms using Marine Goop adhesive and putty knife. Waited two days for the adhesive to cure and while waiting, mounted the 100/30 Blue Solar charge controller, connected that to the battery ACR (automatic charge relay charging both house and start batts) and then connected the pre-measured panel cables. Then put the bimini back up, dropped the panels on (covered them with a towel to reduce chance of shock) and plugged them in! Removed the towels and watched as my batter monitor showed amps flowing into my batts! Those panels are on there good, but can still be removed for whatever reason. Sewing job on bimini and adhesive on panels have not budged in winds up to 30 kts, so far. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I use the charge controller in this kitt for 800 watts |
Answer: | No, 400w max. |
Question: | What are the dimensions of your 100 watt panel |
Answer: | Hello, The dimension are 47.3 x 21.3 x 1.4 in |
Question: | Would you recommend this set for full time rv living |
Answer: | Hello, Yes this kit is designed for full time RV living. This kit will power most of your everyday electronics. |
Question: | Could this be used for home use such as running fans and maybe a fridge during a hurricane or blackout? Also how easy is it install |
Answer: | You need more than 500W PV , 75AH + battery, solar charge controller and a 500W + continuous inverter. In FL only about 80% of the sun's energy reaches the surface for 3-4 hours. 500W becomes 400W for 3-4 and decreases towards dusk and dawn. Cheap inverters are only 70%-80% efficient. The 400W becomes 280W-320W. The battery similarly loses 70%-80%. You finally end up with 200W-220W which is not enough for a home fridge to run 3-4 hours per day. Using high efficiency inverters, charge controllers, batteries, can get you up to 300W, but it's cheaper to add more panels. For a home fridge I wouldn't consider less than 1000W of PV and 200AH of batteries. What you have is good for a few lights, fan, and TV. You might consider a 12V travel cooler to keep food cool. |

Question: | can this be used to run deck with hot tub |
Answer: | I live in an RV and I do a lot of boon-dock camping and my system works fine. Now in order for that to happen I need to keep my fridge on gas and not electric because of the amps it draws but my micro, TV, laptop, phone charger and heater motor all work on solar as long as my batteries are charged. My suggestion is to do some research as to how many amps the hot tub heater and pump draws and how many hours a day/week you plan to use it and calculate the amperage, how many panels and batteries you will need and if you want to run deck lighting change all you bulbs to LED and go from there. I'm pretty sure that you will be bale to get this to work if you do your homework. Hope this helps and enjoy your day. Ken |
Question: | Can this run a 16000 gallon pool? If not what do you have to accommodate my pool |
Answer: | you need to calculate how much amp per hour you need and buy battery bank to supply that, it will not run your equipment directly. Also, the solar will not fully deliver 400watts to your battery bank, it depends on clouds, what state you live in if its in a direct sunlight and how long does the sun last on average (remember winter too if youre up north). You need to do further research or hire a professional to set it up for you. |
Question: | Does this bundle kit come with the cables? They're in the pics but not specifically mentioned |
Answer: | Thank you for the question! Yes, it will come with 9in MC4 to bare wire adaptor kit. Thank you, M.S. |

User questions & answers
Question: | can the system be adapted to a 12 v Marine Battery |
Answer: | You need to match the voltage of your system. These panels are 24 volt. Renogy also has 12 volt PV panels. I have used both their 12 and 244 volt PV panels to power remote blowers and compressors. |
Question: | good powers for air conditioning |
Answer: | You need a lot of panels to power an air conditioner. First you need to determine the air conditioner load. Then you determine the number of panels you need. Then size a charge controller and finally size your battery storage. |
Question: | It would be really helpful if you included all the technical information about these panels on the ad. What are the volts? 12,24? Amps, measurements |
Answer: | 24 |
Question: | Where can I get the specifications for these panels |

User questions & answers
Question: | How would i connect 2 of these panels in parallel to jackery 10p |
Answer: | Thank you for the question! You would want to first make sure that the Jackery 1000 can handle 200w of input and in what configuration, series or parallel. If in parallel you would need to use a set of MC4Y branch connectors to attach the two positive MC4s together. Likewise with the negative MC4s. From there you would need an MC4 to whatever input the Jackery 1000 needs as solar input. If wired in series no MC4Y branch connectors are needed and the panels can be wired positive to negative with a single pos off of one panel and a single neg off of the second panel. Please make sure with Jackery before connecting the two panels how they should be connected. Thank you, M.S. |
Question: | will this work with a jackery 240 portable battery? thanks |
Answer: | Yes, will plug right into the Hackett dolor input. |
Question: | I need to connect to jackery 240 (5mm? round dc connector) or what/where adapter to use |
Answer: | Thank you for the question! You would need an MC4 to Jackery adaptor directly from Jackery to wire this panel into a jackery power station. Unfortunately, we do not sell adaptors for Jackery. Thank you, M.S. |
Question: | This panel says Positive ground. Can I connect to a controller that is a negative ground with other negative ground panels |
Answer: | That panel is not grounded at all and yes it can be attached to the Rover without issue. |

User questions & answers
Question: | dimensions of the panel |
Answer: | Why is there 4 answers for a physical dimension? The picture shows one, a customer measured his about that, but the spec sheet and seller say a much different number. Please check again. |
Question: | Can this kit be upgraded to the better controller |
Answer: | this kit CAN BE upgraded, by buying a different brand. the charge controller is junk. it will not charge my battery that is less that 10% drained. |
Question: | Looking to get a solar option for charging laptops and small electronics in my van (vandweller). Would this work? or need x |
Answer: | this kit will work way beyond that as long as you have enough batteries to hook it up to.it can charge your van battery and run 12 volt appliances through your cigarette lighter or run 120 volt appliances with an inverter that can handle the amount of watts you want to use.be careful of sensitive electronics while using a cheap inverter.you may need a sine wave inverter.i would highly recommend a good group of deep cycle batteries.the more batteries the more you can run.check out youtube for lots of answers.hope I was able to help |
Question: | How many amps are charging the battery while inuse, on a sunny day |
Answer: | I purchased this system to act as a 'test bed' prior to buying my main dual-axis 2 panel system (Two 250W, 24V 8A panels). It's a monocrystilline 100w panel stated to output 5 amps, 12volts. I see consistent 13~14 volts at 4 amps, and have hit 5 amps on really good days (but 4A are more realistic). As a test item, I had it charging a 73AH Deep Cycle Gel battery from West Marine (the panel came with a 30A PWM charge controller). It worked fine and charged the battery in a matter of short hours ( I have both an amp meter and a volt meter connected to track its output). Previously, I was using two 45W amorphous panels (Harbor Freight) that took up to 4 days to do what this one panel can do in 4 hours. Buy with confidence. |

User questions & answers
Question: | My house battery is too hard to get to for alligator clips. What would I need to hard wire this system to my battery |
Answer: | I got this extension cable: https://www.amazon.com/Go-Power-GP-PSK-X30-Expansion-Accessory/dp/B00FYV4DU8 And I got this accessory: https://www.amazon.com/Go-Power-Trailer-Accessory-Portable/dp/B00FYUCQXK, to which I added the appropriate quick-connector. The 30’ cable coils up inside the back of one panel when folded, I keep the 7-way hookup accessory in a little bag with other accessories. I simply set up the panel somewhere within 30’ of the front of my trailer and plug it into the 7-way coming from the trailer. Works like a dream to keep my LiFePO4 battery charged up, even on less than perfectly sunny days! No need to alligator-clip it to battery under the couch in my trailer. I did get a charge controller from Zamp Solar, because Renogy’s did not support lithium batteries at the time. |
Question: | Can i add more pannesls |
Answer: | I assume you are asking if the included charge controller can manage additional panels? If you are looking to add panels in parallel (maintaining the nominal 12V output while increasing amperage), my answer would be, "not recommended." This controller is rated at 10 amps. At full 100 watt output, it is operating at around 7 amps, so there's not much additional capacity. If you plan to add panels, I would suggest ordering the kit without the controller, then add a higher capacity controller such as this 30 amp model...http://www.amazon.com/RENOGY%C2%AE-ViewStar-Negative-grounded-Controller/dp/B00LG0DAQO/ref=sr_1_2?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1428654662&sr=1-2&keywords=viewstar It will require some know-how and additional wiring to properly set up. |
Question: | Anybody know how long you can run the batter/power cable...? I'm thinking from the top of an RV to the ground +/- 12-15'. Thank you in advance |
Answer: | With 10AWG wire between your controller and battery, 30' of wire will give you 3% drop. Only 15' of wire could be used if you add a panel and have 200W of PV power. That's not the best practice though. Best would be to use an MPPT controller connected as close to the battery as possible. You would then be able to use 55' of 10 guage wire between the controller and panel, or 110' if you double your voltage by adding another 100 watt panel in series. |
Question: | What is a good extension cord to buy with this for more mobility from my RV |
Answer: | There is a lot of wrong and misleading info you're getting here... It primarily depends on your controller. If you have a garbage (PWM) controller, then 25' of 10AWG wire is your max. That puts you at 3% voltage drop. If you have an MPPT controller, you can go 55' with 10AWG wire. Now, here's the kicker, and the reason nobody should be buying these crappy PWM controllers; If you add another 100W panel in series to your MPPT controller, you can now use 110 feet of wire, and your voltage drop will still be 3% because you're doubling your voltage. If you add a panel to a PWM controller, you'll have to cut your wire length in half. DO NOT BUY PWM controllers!!! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are the brackets made of stainless steel |
Answer: | the brackets are aluminum and the fasteners are stainless steel |
Question: | Why can't I order more than 8 of these? I'd like to use them to optimize the panel angles on my small home rooftop system - 8 isn't enough |
Answer: | I don't know, check with Amazon. |
Question: | Did others recieve wing nuts and washers? My package had the plastic head bolts but no nuts |
Answer: | All mounting parts were included in mine. |
Question: | Can they be tilted while driving |
Answer: | As long as you don't mind sending the panels onto the traffic behind you.... I suppose if you drilled thru the roof and mounted them with 3/8" bolts and oversized fender washers it could be possible to keep them mounted to the roof. As for keeping the panels attached to the brackets; again, that's a mounting hardware issue. Think about the speed you travel (i.e. 70 mph) and add into that a headwind of 30 mph (plus gusts), you have a combined wind resistance of 100+ mph. Besides the strain on the fasteners and bracket, you would have a hell of a drag impacting your fuel consumption. In short, keep EVERYTHING as low as possible when driving. Reduced drag improves mileage and minimizes the strain on whatever you attach as well as minimizes fuel economy impact. |
