User questions & answers
Question: | Will 3-130w12v&1-50w12v solar panel work if panels are parallel w/2 12v100aH lithium batteries on this charge controller? What size fuse is needed |
Answer: | No it didn’t come with that |
Question: | Would this work with two 12v 12s lifepo batteries in series |
Answer: | I'm not aware of any phone apps that will allow you to rip MP3 files to a USB. However there are multiple players, cassettes, vinyl and CD's that have the ability to create MP3 files from the analog media. I suggest that you search Amazon for those devices. Alternately you you can hook up a player to the Boytone and play regular media through the board. Good luck. |
Question: | My life pro4 batteries are down to 50%. My panels will put out 12 amps but your controller will only allow 7.5 amps to charge batteries. Advise pleas |
Answer: | No there is no sand in it |
Question: | Is the 30a charge rate the maximum? would it damage a lifepo4 battery that has a max charge rate of 10a |
Answer: | It is surprisingly complicated for something that should be obvious. First, the pump has two tips attached to it: one has a closed end don't use this, the second has a small opening. Attach the second tip to the pump and insert it into the ball. Also, be sure that the air hose is connected correctly to the pump so that air is going in not pulled out. It takes awhile before you can see that the ball is actually inflating. When the ball is fully inflated there are two white plastic pint short spikes with a wide disc base these is the plug for the inflate hole. It was after I inserted it that I realized that the funny looking giant white plastic paper clip looking thingy is the tool to remove the plastic valve plug if you need to. Also, there is a white measuring tape that is supposed to be used to measure the correct diameter -I can't help you here, I have no idea how it should be used, when my ball was fully inflated the tape showed that I needed another 12"! Otherwise I love the ball - I use it as a chair at my desk all day. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this charge controller negative or positive ground |
Answer: | + terminal goes to + terminal on battery& - terminal goes to - negative terminal which is the one that is normally ground. Unless you are talking about a boat or RV with a positive ground system which is rare. For PV panel home install the battery and the loads are as indicated above . I am running a 100 watt panel , 35Amp AGM battery , and run radio transmitting/receive equipment and computers. and controller is not creating noise on the radio equipment. So far works a advertised. |
Question: | what is the max solar voltage? thanks Sam |
Answer: | With reference to the first answer. There is two voltages one must understand. In a system there is upstream and downstream voltage of the controller. The upstream voltage for this controller is 48V and downstream it can handle 12V or 24v configurations depending on battery connection in parallel or series. If you looking at upstream voltage, you should determine this by using the short circuit voltage on the solar panel. |
Question: | What is the max panel watts this controller can handle |
Answer: | All I can say is that I hook up 400 watts of solar panels to the controller. Together, they power two 12 volt batteries. The controllers do a great job telling you how the battery and panels are doing. |
Question: | What the far right connection's purpose ? ( has light bulb insignia). Is it for connecting a device directly to the controller or dump an overload |
Answer: | The main purpose of the "load" output (with the light bulb) is to protect the batteries from being drained down to 0 V by a "dumb" load. The controller can be set to turn the load off when the batteries get below a certain voltage (like 11V, 10V, it's user selectable). When the batteries get above a certain level (12.5V, 12.8V, again it's user selectable), the load will be turned back on. The controller will also measure how many amp-hours have been delivered to the load, but it's not perfectly accurate. I have nothing connected to my load (I just connect directly to the battery), and my controller still says the load has used 100's of amp-hours. |
