User questions & answers

Question: Does Pulsar offer a running cover for this 12000 watt model? If not does anyone have experience in one that they have purchased they could recommend
Answer: After reviewing I believe the IGAN cover should fit. Also a folding round plastic table works.
Question: Puede realidar conexion directobtqblero a la casa
Answer: Sí, es posible. Pero, además, necesitará un interruptor de transferencia automática y otros equipos no incluidos. Y es probable que necesite la ayuda de un electricista que entienda el código de seguridad local.
Question: What about powering computer equipment such as servers, network equipment, camera systems, etc..etc
Answer: That sounds expensive and possibly delicate. Please consider using a robust inline power conditioner or UPS system. The generator makes plenty of power, your concern should be the integrity of the waveform. Server equipment is probably looking for a very clean sine wave. Tom

User questions & answers

Question: Has anyone gotten a good propane consumption rate yet? The description seems too good to be true....20 hours on a bbq tank
Answer: hello I have a 3500 w strictly propane and used it during Sandy I poweredy whole house by rigging the board .I actually powered the boiler circulating pump for heat 2 refriges and a freezer besides some lights.I had to juggle appliances once in awile but it ran great .I went through a 100 # propane cylinder it took 2/ 12 hour days and one 8hr day running all those appliances. No prob.We actually ran tje washer once during that week cause some people stayed with us
Question: What are the physical dimensions of this generator. Description says 28x30x40, thats huge. Is that right? Is that length width and height? 40" tall
Answer: I just went out and measured mine: 26" tall x 30" wide x 22" deep. I suspect the dimensions given are the packaged dimensions.
Question: Is the propane hose included
Answer: I just got mine and the hose I got is five feet long.
Question: What can i do to stop my propane tank from freezing in at night in the florida summer? this is connected to this generator. help
Answer: Having used quite a few propane heaters, generators, and torches(large ones) I can safely say the best way to stop the frost is to reduce the pressure on the tank. The easiest, simplest safest way to do that is to get a higher volume tank. If a 20lb tank is frosting badly you are drawing it to quickly, try a 40lb or better even a 100lb tank. Your frosting problem will go away.

User questions & answers

Question: What type of fuel do you put in
Answer: Fuel must meet these requirements. Clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline A minimum of 87 octane/87 AKI (91 RON). Gasoline with no more than 10% ethanol is acceptable. Do not use unapproved gasolines, such as E85. Do not mix oil in gasoline or modify the engine to run on alternate fuels. This will damage the engine components and void the warranty, To protect the fuel system from gum formation, mix a fuel stabilizer into the fuel. Please refer to your owners manual for further instructions.
Question: Has anyone converted theirs to propane
Answer: I don't know of anyone converting, but would be interested in any response from someone who has. My home standby generator, Generac, is propane and I love it.
Question: Does it have an electric start
Answer: no, it has a pull start but it pulls very easy. Never had to pull more than twice. Electric starter is just one more thing to go wrong on a generator
Question: Why won't it ship to California
Answer: The Westinghouse product I am interested in will not ship to CA. What makes this odd is this exact unit is sold online and in stores here in CA. If it were in stock I would gladly buy locally. Maybe these situations will slowly bring Amazon to its long overdue knees.

User questions & answers

Question: would like to adapt to another gererator. can someone tell me the actual axel length/wheel base measurment
Answer: axel length is 19 inches long, wheel base is 8 inches wide.
Question: Ran gen and turned off petcock till unit died. Why is gas still getting into carb/air cleaner assembly
Answer: It seems that if you overfill the fuel tank, the gas makes it's way into the vent and and then drains thru the hose back into the air cleaner assembly. Not the greatest design, but I drained some fuel from the tank and now the problem is solved.. Thanks for you input anyhow.
Question: can you plug a power strip into the outlet and run lamps, refrigerator and sump pump all at the same time
Answer: Yes - as long as the wattage doesn't exceed the rated capacity. We've used ours to run two refrigerators, two fans and our water well without any issues.
Question: Can somone explain the difference between surge watts and running watts
Answer: Think of the running watts as the generator stabilizing its power output & staying level. When you plug another item into it that means it has to do more or output more power for a few seconds it amps up to compensate for the new item plugged in. A quick surge in watts happens & eventually levels out back to the running watts. If it happens to go over the max surge watts too far it'll shut off.

User questions & answers

Question: Why does amazon call this sc2000iv isn't this sc2000i
Answer: While I cannot answer your question empirically, I have an idea based on my evaluation of the SUA2000i v the SUA2000iV. When I compare the owner's manual for the 'iV,' it does not include the same accessories as the 'i;' no battery charging or parallel cables. I did not receive cables although these reviews infer that I should have. I looked on their website and the 'i' includes cables (per their literature and diagrams) while the iV does not include them and that is reinforced by the list of included items. All of this is a guess, but I have been looking into this same question to determine why I did not get cables.. :) Good ,luck with the full answer!
Question: Is it big enough to start/run a 1/2 hp sump pump. the specs say that it's amperage is 6.9a
Answer: It should be depending on the start-up draw of the motor. It takes a lot more energy to start than to run.
Question: How much gas does tank hold
Answer: 7-gallon, large heavy-duty all steel construction fuel tank provides up to nine hours of run time at 50% load
Question: Can this run a 3 ton AC unit? And does it accommodate a 50 amp plug
Answer: yes I do it... my fridge a/c lights well pump hot water heater tv internet mico wave range washer dryer you just have to keep the load around 9k give or take example... washing clothes, shut off range breaker ,shut off fridge it stays cold 4 or so hrs , shut off hot water heater it stays hot for hrs... our 40 gallon tank gives at least 3 hot showers, get the Idea?great cheap gen!! fires right up

User questions & answers

Question: start a 13500 btu AC
Answer: We have a 13,500 BTU A/C in out 2004 Mountaineer and this generator starts and runs it with no problems. We leave the generator in "economy" mode all the time and it naturally revs up when the A/C starts up, but has never failed to do its job. Also, we run it only on propane... it's never had a drop of gasoline in it.
Question: Looks like it would weigh more with the battery and starter. Not much heavier than the 75531i
Answer: Rope start backup.
Question: How to connect to 500 gal tank
Answer: mine is connected to our 500 gal tank but it took some work going back & forth between the tech at champion (have to get the right one) and my propane company. i had propane company put a quick disconnect valve at the house, where the propane goes into the house on the low side of the step down valve, then i had them make me a 20' hose that connects to the diaphragm / hose that champion provides minus their regulator. There is a limit on how long the new hose can be as the pressure will drop with distance and you do need a minimum about of gas pressure for it to work. (see other answer from Champion here). Triple check w/ both Champion & your propane company. Also when you turn it on to run, the gen will have to pull out the air in the hose, takes several short cranks on the gen and if it's cold out you may end up having to pull the cord - takes some practice w/ the choke. Once the propane is flowing it's easier to restart if you don't disconnect the hose from either end. I used it this way for 22 hrs recently and it worked like a charm. Don't forget to check the oil regularly. The diaphragm must be exposed to ambient air pressure but also must stay dry.
Question: Does this come with the lp hose? And what connection is it
Answer: Yes it does. The hose connection is std. 3/8 propane connection like a barbeque uses.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the dB rating on this unit
Answer: 50 dB at 1/2”. That is what the manufacturer is saying. Without a standard it is worthless information. I can claim mine is 47 dB but that measurement is at 30’ from the quietest side another claims 57dB but that is at 10’ Reporting the max reading from any side. Guess which one is quieter? Every generator is 0dB if you stand far enough away.
Question: Where is it made
Answer: Most of Generac’s products—like the XC Series portable generators—are built right here in Wisconsin. However, the iQ3500 is manufactured to our specifications by a partner overseas.
Question: Where is it made
Answer: Same as my DuroMax XP2000iS. These are all Yamaha clones. I paid $450 for mine. Same exact generator, just blue instead of orange. Also, the Pulsar PG2300iS at $429.
Question: Generac 30 A for RV
Answer: I have a Rockwood 233s travel trailer with a 15k air conditioning unit. This runs the whole unit, lights, fridge, water pump fans and AC no problem.

User questions & answers

Question: I want to send this to Haiti is it possible
Answer: Its shipped with out fuel international shipping should be ok!
Question: can it run skill saw or drill one at a time
Answer: yes
Question: do you use just gas are gas-oil mix
Answer: All two cycle engines require mixed fuel. There is no oil in a two cycle engine, it gets its lubrication from the fuel and oil mixture. Being as there is no oil it also gets interior protection from rust by the oil in the fuel mix. The mix ratio is important but not so much as you might think. Minimum 2-cycle engine mix ratios are usually in the 50:1 area. You could go as high as 30:1 if you like. Adding more oil causes a little bit of spark plug fouling that you can clean off by removing the plug and giving it a few passes on the business end with a wire brush. Too much oil is generally better than not enough. Insufficient oil in the mix will cause piston ring wear and early engine failure due to the piston scoring and seizing. At that point the engine has to be rebuilt so you really want to avoid that. There will be instructions regarding the manufacturers recommended fuel/oil mix ratio either on the machine itself or in the manual. Follow the manufacturers advice. USE ONLY OIL DESIGNED TO BE MIXED WITH FUEL, DO NOT USE REGULAR MOTOR OIL. There is a difference in the two kinds of oil. Somewhere on the container of oil you buy you should see the letters "TCW" displayed prominently. There are both standard organic and synthetic oils available. The difference in them is the organics tend to leave a better protective film on the interior engine surfaces, the synthetic oils tend to do a marginally better job of lubrication when the motor is running. It's a trade-off either way. I have two tanks on my boat for my outboard and I put organic regular oil (which btw is cheaper) in one and synthetic in the other. That way I get the best of both. Don't let anyone tell you that once you start using a synthetic you cannot go back to standard oil grades, that's hogwash mythology. No engine manufacturer will validate that silliness so don't worry about it. Any oil is better than no oil, so make sure you HAVE oil and you know what the mixture should be.Don't worry about premium fuel, that tiny little piston and its spark plug are never going to realize a bit of difference in a few octane points. DO treat your fuel with a preservative like "Sta-Bil" EVERY TIME YOU GET FRESH FUEL. Doing this will do much, much more towards keeping your engine running happy and trouble free than putting high octane fuel in it. Avoid ethanol if you can, but usually you can't. Putting a fuel stabilizer in the gas can before you fill it with gasoline will largely if not completely offset the problems caused by ethanol gasoline. A good stabilizer like Sta-bil (I use the marine version religiously) will clean the carburetor, prevent waxing and varnish in the fuel line, prevent phase II fuel separation and breakdown and generally keep you happy with your little engine. The best practice with these engines is to turn off the fuel valve and let the carburetor run dry when you have finished using them. It's easier and faster by only a few seconds to just hit the "off" switch, whatever that might be. It's a better idea to use the fuel shutoff valve (almost all these things come with a little petcock at the bottom of the tank to shut down the fuel flow) to starve the engine of fuel to shut it down. Doing this prevents fuel from sitting in the carburetor and turning to sludge, varnishing up and plugging carb parts and needle valves, etc. When you want to start it again open the fuel valve, activate the choke mechanism and pull the starter rope. If it starts shut the choke off right away. If it fires, shut the choke off and pull the starter rope again, it should start on that pull. If it NEVER fires there's something else wrong than fuel feed.
Question: how much does it weigh
Answer: I'm not sure of the weight. Empty it doesn't weigh much but add gas and it does increase the weight.you didn't ask this question, but I will include it anyway, it is noisy.

User questions & answers

Question: If ran through either a 120v plug or a 30 amp adapter plug to 1 outlet in the house, is there a limit on how much you can power from one outlet
Answer: definately restricted by the particular wiring in your home to that outlet 15 or 20 amp MAX. Unless your an electircian and know what, when , how, and why, you should not even be thinking about doing this ,and if your were, you would already know what your limits are and if you can do it. SO NO, dont do it!!!
Question: How much oil shoud I put in it. I received the unit but no documentations on the first time oil fill up. Thanks to any and everyone
Answer: 20oz. This is in the supplied manual. Recommended oil is 10W30 for most climates.
Question: What is the decibel level of this generator? I can't find it listed. Thanks
Answer: 69-decibels. generatorfactoryoutlet-dot-com. About like your typical lawn mower. When you have no commercial electricity, it will be the sweetest sound ever.
Question: Is this big enough to power a small house in an outage of several days to a week (I know nothing about electricity and generators). Thanks
Answer: It cannot run your entire house. We typically run a full-size freezer, refrigerator, several lights, and our internet router. I have run this generator for up to 48 hours, but most of our outages are in the 8-12 hour duration. I run this unit 2-3 times per year. I run drop cords from the unit to my critical stuff. It starts easily, and runs 8+ hours on a tank of gas under our load. When the power goes out, it takes me about 10 minutes to roll it out, start it, and get everything plugged in. It has never let me down, would definitely purchase again.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it come with an oil fill funnel
Answer: Yes, this machine comes with an oil funnel. Thank you.
Question: I see the 100468 parallel kit has a 30a outlet. can you connect this device to only one generator and use that 30a outlet with only 1800 watts power
Answer: 30A at 120Vac is 3600W. Each generator has half that, so 2 are needed. You CAN buy an ADAPTOR for a 30A receptacle, but ~15A is all you can source from a single generator of this size.
Question: Is this unit able to convert to duel fuel
Answer: Unfortunately this model is designed to strictly run on gasoline, not dual fuel. If you are interested in a 2000 watt dual fuel, we recommend looking at our model 100402. Thank you!
Question: Is there a way to drain the fuel out of the carburetor so it doesn't gum up
Answer: I would also spray carb cleaner in there too because draining it is not a fix, it's just better than not draining. They usually have a vent hole in the carb you can spray into, then ideally you run the gen on carb cleaner for a bit to ensure all the gas is out. For example the idle/intermediate jet is extremely small and its emulsion tube will hold fuel after draining. This jet is no fun to clean if plugged. So running it dry is much better than draining, and running it dry on carb cleaner is better still. So if you plan on not using it for a while I'd figure out a way to make that happen. This bs is the #1 reason I use propane. The second reason is storing gas is a pita and imo dangerous, propane is easy and safe. Third is run time on gas isn't very long but even on a little 20lb propane tank it'll run 4x as long. I have a 100lb tank so 20x as long. So imo it's easily worth the extra $ to get the dual fuel version.
