Question:	Will this harm my Bermuda grass
Answer:	This is highly recommended for Bermuda grass which is why I made my original purchase. Don’t put it on too heavy and don’t put it on in the hottest part of the summer. Otherwise it’s an excellent product.

Answer:	This product does have some pre-emergent in it (isoxaben and dicamba) though it does not prevent as many weeds as something like prodiamine (sp?). Look at the label. The weeds that have the number 1 next to them, this product will kill those weeds and act as a pre-emergent to them. Answer:	In the late winter or early spring. Crabgrass and other annual weeds that you are trying to prevent often germinate after several days with soil temperatures (NOT air temperatures) being around 55 degrees. The microbes in the soil are what break down this pre-emergent and since microbes in the soil are fairly dormant in cold weather, that means you can put this down early, well before the soil reaches 55 degrees and the pre-emergent herbicide will still be active when the soil reaches the temperatures where annual weeds start to germinate. This does not kill the seeds, it stops root development as the seeds germinate so the weed/plant does not reach a stage where it will emerge from the soil and grow. Many lawn care professionals put down their pre-emergent herbicides when the soil temperatures are in the 35-45 degree range to prevent weeds. Oddly, I have yet to see anybody state an actual temperature for the soil as a guide to apply pre-emergence herbicides in he fall...? Keep in mind this will prevent plants from growing, so if you are planning on putting down new grass seed or overseeding to thicken growth in your lawn, this will also prevent desirable plants and grass from germinating as well.

Answer:	You would want to wait the entire time before applying another product with fertilizer. If you have broadleaf weeds now, you can spot treat with Ortho Weed B Gon.

Answer:	In what I’ve read before, 6-8 weeks. At that point you should wait until fall, which is there ideal grass time in most climates. It gives the grass a chance to start growing on top, then winterize and grow strong roots so that spring will be awesome. About 3 years now I’ve been applying this strategy and find my grass is greener than all the neighbors. There is one neighbor who has a thicker lawn but he has a different slope in his yard and has been at it much longer. I will overtake him!

Answer:	I have Poa Annua and have been doing a lot of research on it. Many websites with information about Poa Annua say for effective control, besides Spring treatment it is good to put pre emergent down in August/September. Here is a quote from the Purdue University Extension website: "Poa annua is a winter annual that germinates in the late summer/early fall once soil temperatures fall below 70o F. Seedlings mature in the fall, overwinter in a vegetative state, and flower and produce seed in late spring and early summer." I just chatted with Scott's website and they said this product can be effective when used in this manner. I plan to apply it then AND next Spring. Most of the lawns in my development have been taken over by Poa Annua but I am still fighting the fight and hope to win or at least keep it to a minimum.

Question:	Do I use this before or after I fertilize my lawn in the Fall
Answer:	I wouldn't necessarily use this in the Fall. September is a nice cool month to do some reseeding, and you can't put this down within 6 weeks of seeding the lawn. I tend to do a March application and a 2nd April application, leaving me a window to seed the lawn in June. Always remember, June and September are the 2 best months to seed your lawn. I also wouldn't put this down in the fall because crabgrass does not tend to germinate in the fall, it germinates in March and April.
Question:	Is this effective against crabgrass
Answer:	I used it for the first time this season. I couldn't see that it did anything although I understand that it should be used for 3 consecutive seasons to see significant results. I wasn't pleased with the size of the pellets (rabbit food size). It took several rain events for the product to dissolve. Maybe this is better but it just wasn't what I expected. In the spring I plan to use a chemical crabgrass preventer. I'm changing over to a zoysia lawn. Zoysia may go dormant and turn brown in the winter but it requires no watering and less mowing in summer. In a few seasons I won't need any fertilizer or weed killer (except for spot treatments).
Question:	Can this be used in the garden as well as the lawn
Answer:	Does this kill the grasses that produce those nasty "Foxtails"? I have animals, vegetable garden, etc. and need a better way to kill these weeds/grasses before they produce the foxtails. Trying to "weed-wacker" them down before they get the foxtails is not always possible for me due to health issues.
Question:	Is this a good product to use on gravel walkways to avoid weed growth
Answer:	Mike McGrath says: Spread even the finest quality corn gluten on established weeds like those walkway ones, however, and you'll simply be feeding them. Mulch,vinegar, flame, hoeing and/or hand pulling are the answer here-and in that large-scale, Master Gardener situation. Yes, you could prevent future weeds by dusting with corn gluten every six weeks, but it would be hugely expensive and you'd be wasting all that great nitrogen fertilizer if there weren't 'wanted' plants growing in that area. Answer:	Correct I have used both spray tank 2 gal and hose end sprayer. Hose end much faster and again correct you have to "wet" the product in or off the grass to create a "weed seed blocking germination". Only need 2 oz I believe per gal. This stuff WORKS . HOWEVER I have bought it on Amazon for $32 per qt NOW is shows $72 per qt. HOLY CRAP what happened to price?

Answer:	Sorry, never used it over juniper, strictly on desert landscape. It usually does not affect green, growing plants; just prevents seeds from germinating and thus no weeds come up.

Answer:	No. Surflan is a pre-emergent herbicide for preventative control of grassy and broadleaf weeds. Bahiagrass is not controlled preventatively or curatively. you can use a herbicide with metsulfuron 60Df as the active ingredient for controlling bahia grass.

Question:	How often do you need to apply this treatment
Answer:	As often as you want as long as you do not go over the maximum amount for your turf type per year. For some turf types, that is about .83 ounces by weight of this dry granule per 1,000 sq. ft. Most typically people apply this in the late winter or early spring. Many say to put this down when the soil temps are at 55 degrees in the winter/spring, but that is when crabgrass starts to germinate. Many lawn care professionals say to put this down earlier, when the temps are 40 to 45 degrees because it is the bacteria in the soil that break down the product and at these temperatures, the bacteria are pretty much dormant. You apply at 0.185 ounces by weight per 1,000 sq. ft. (for any grass type) and that will give you 3-4 months of protection when put down at those temps above. Put down 0.28 ounces per 1,000 sq. ft. to give 4 months of protection in the fall. I apply when the night time temperatures start dropping into the low 70's and upper 60's. I saw someone say you want this down before the soil temperatures drop to 70 in the late summer/early fall, but I have not confirmed this. So if the day temps are in the 80's and 90's and the night temps are in the 70's or upper 60's, you should still be ahead of the annual weeds you're trying to prevent in the fall.
Question:	Is this product safe for centipede grass thats 1 year old
Answer:	This should be safe on any established grass which typically means the grass has grown enough to be mowed 4+ times. You can put it down a little earlier depending on the grass type, but better safe than sorry. If you put this down too soon you can harm the new grass while it is maturing and if you do this, the prodiamine will stop new grass seed (as well as weeds) from germinating for a few months.
Question:	Will it prevent crabgrass
Answer:	Yes. Prodiamine is broken down by the microbes in the soil, and the microbes do not really start to become very active until the soil temperatures are higher...like 50+ degrees (not 100% positive of what temp here, but you get the idea). Crabgrass seeds start to germinate once the ground temperatures start to reach about 55 degrees. So you can put this down when the ground temperatures are 40-45 degrees and it will still be very effective once the ground temperatures reach ~55 degrees and provide the protection you need, versus waiting until the ground temps are already at 55 degrees and you may be too late. What this does it once the crabgrass and other seeds start to germinate, Prodiamine will stop the roots from progressing once the seeds start to germinate, which kills the plant before it completely germinates and breaks through the soil. What I like to do (heard this from a lawn care professional - YouTube channel 'Pest & Lawn Ginja') is get use a cheap meat thermometer and check the soil temps and once the ground temps are around 55 degrees, put down a different pre-emergent called Dithiopyr. Answer:	I wouldn't recommend it. Prodiamine, straight out of the container, is in granular form. Each granule is about 1 mm in diameter. All the hose end sprayers I know of require dispensing of the product as a liquid. For my application, which is to treat for Annual Bluegrass (Poa Annua) in a Zoysia lawn, I used a 3 gallon backpack tank sprayer. I measured 3/4 Tbsp. Prodiamine and poured it into a quart container. I then added 3 cups water and mixed the two together into a concentrate. I then poured the concentrate into the backpack tank sprayer and added water to make 3 gallons. 3 gallons will treat 750 sq. ft. The amount to use is 1/4 Tbsp. Prodiamine per gallon of water. Each gallon will treat 250 sq. ft.There are 3 tsp. in a Tbsp.

Answer:	I believe that the Preen description states that it is effective for 6 months. I take that to mean that it is still partially effective for a period of time after that 6months. Therefore, I would wait several months longer before planting seeds. As a sheer guess, at about 9 months some seeds may not germinate so your yield of plants from seeds might be less than optimum but better than zero, and after 12 months, the effects should be gone. But then by that time, there will likely be some fresh weed seeds blown in from elsewhere. Bulbs don't really germinate like seeds so Preen may not effect them but this I really don't know.
Question:	How long after application is the area safe for pets to walk on

Answer:	Lower your spreader setting or walk faster. Either will thin out the application a bit for a broader coverage. I'm rather OCD and I use a lower setting and do a pass in one direction with half the bag, then put the other half in and go across the lawn at a 90 degree angle for a more even distribution. Also, I recommend buying the larger bag as it is cheaper per pound, then just roll up the top and tape it and stick it in the garage or shed for the next application. I first used this in 2020, and the larger bags were not available, which means I need to probably go ahead and start looking for some now. Look at big box stores over the winter when they are trying to clear shelf space for the holidays and you can find lawn care stuff frequently at reduced rates. This left darker green stripes on my lawn which wasn't the fault of the product, but my lawn was deficient in iron. If you have this happen, adding more iron should help even out the color. Ironite is one popular choice. There are also spray on liquid iron applications if you need a quick fix for a lawn party or something.

Answer:	Two partial answers....the real answer is maybe. Each turf type requires a certain amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, which are the 16-4-8, meaning if you had a 100 pound bag of this fertilizer, 16 pounds would be nitrogen, 4 pounds would be phosphorus, and 8 pounds would be potassium. Different turfs require different amounts of these nutrients each year. For example, my Zoysia requires 2-3 pounds of nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft. per year, and the other 4/8 in the bag would be good ranges as well for my turf type. Yours may be different. You want to spread the lawn feedings across the growing season, and not feed the lawn when it is about to go dormant, which is when the weather turns cooler for warm season grasses, and when the weather is getting hottest for cool season grasses. Some people feed their lawns twice a year, some 3-4-5 times a year or more, depending on how evenly you want to spread the nutrients through the growing season. However many times you plan on putting down fertilizer each year, figure out how much you need each year based on your turf type (Google "Lawn Care Academy" and look up your grass type) and divide that by how many times you plan to feed. If the Weed-N-Feed plus this is in the general correct range for that feeding, you can apply both. Generally I apply fertilizer throughout the year and put down some Ironite a few times to deepen the green in my lawn, and some Milorganite (some nitrogen and a lot of organic matter for the soil bacteria to feed on), and with a pre-emergent program (Prodiamine or similar product), that will keep most weeds away. 2, 4D and Quinclorac will take care of most weeds and crabgrass. There is a spectracide product that contains those along with Dicamba and Sulfentrazone. if these are safe on your turf type, I'd use that as a follow up to spot treat remaining weeds. Once the bulk of the weeds are managed, which will be 95% of them, I use an envelope moistener with a sponge and put glyphosate in it with some surfactant and apply directly to any remaining weeds to kill them. Stick with a proper pre-emergent program and that will keep 99% of the future weeds from popping up.

Question:	Can this be used with a hose end sprayer
Answer:	I have not used this product yet so can't specifically answer. Generally, any product can be used with a hose end sprayer if it is in liquid form and can pass through the nozzle where the product is mixed with the hose water. The water flow creates a vacuum that sucks the product from the sprayer container. If the liquid is too dense, the vacuum is not strong enough to suck it through. I use a type sprayer where you set the water flow to get the right mix. On thicker higher concentration products, I sometimes have to dilute the product and use a higher water setting to suck the product through the nozzle. This is not ideal when you are spraying something where the spray can drip off because you are spraying longer, and using more water, to get the same amount of product on what you are spraying. This is a lot of effort for a powder but would work under the above conditions. Frankly, had I realized this was a powder I would not have bought it. If I had a conventional hose sprayer, I would not buy it. There are too many unknown variables.

Answer:	3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon. 2 tablespoons = 1 ounce, and 6 teaspoons = 1 ounce. It takes VERY LITTLE of this product to properly apply on a lawn. Unless you have a massive lawn, this bottle will last you years. This is a great value though. I just received an email from a guy I subscribe to on YouTube and he was selling a small bottle of Prodiamine for $20 and change, but it was so little it was nuts! It was only enough to do 3 applications on a 1,000 sq. ft. area. Just be sure you understand the directions. That 0.4 ounces per 1,000 sq. ft. is the amount you can apply per year (and you want to apply in a minimum of 2 times, if not 3, applying a split application after you aerate the lawn). that is off the top of my head - don't trust my memory though, read the label. Seriously, a little goes a long ways. This works well when applied properly. I bought this last summer and have applied once to date, and my Zoysia lawn is currently dormant which means it is a golden tan color, so any live weeds or undesirable grasses easily stand out. I have a 5,000 sq. ft. front lawn, and I only have about 25 sq. ft. of undesirable grass, and about 20+ sq. ft. of that is perennial grass that I need to kill off with glyphosate. The rest are either weeds that may have already germinated before application, or I am human, and I may have missed a few spots when I sprayed, or they are perennial grasses/weeds that were already established. This stuff is great! Oh, again, read the label. Different types of turf can tolerate different amounts of Prodiamine. My Zoysia can tolerate nearly twice as much as my neighbors Fescue lawn for example.
