11 best flower fertilizer
Flower fertilizer is a type of plant food specifically designed to promote the healthy growth and blooming of flowering plants, including garden flowers, ornamental plants, and even indoor potted flowers. It falls under the category of fertilizers and is an essential component of gardening and lawn care. Here are some key points about flower fertilizer:
Nutrient Balance: Flower fertilizers are formulated to provide a balanced mix of essential nutrients that plants need for their growth and flowering. These nutrients typically include nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), often referred to as NPK.
NPK Ratio: The NPK ratio on a flower fertilizer package indicates the relative amounts of each nutrient. For flowering plants, a fertilizer with a higher phosphorus content (the middle number) is preferred, as phosphorus promotes flower development.
Micro-nutrients: In addition to the primary NPK nutrients, flower fertilizers may contain micronutrients like iron, manganese, and zinc, which are required in smaller quantities but are still crucial for plant health.
Slow-Release vs. Liquid Fertilizers: Flower fertilizers come in various forms, including granular slow-release pellets and liquid concentrates. Slow-release fertilizers provide nutrients gradually over an extended period, while liquid fertilizers offer quick nutrient absorption but may require more frequent application.
Organic vs. Synthetic Fertilizers: Gardeners can choose between organic and synthetic flower fertilizers. Organic options are derived from natural sources, such as compost or animal byproducts, while synthetic fertilizers are chemically manufactured. Organic fertilizers tend to release nutrients slowly and improve soil quality over time.
Application Timing: The timing of fertilizer application is crucial. For most flowering plants, it's best to apply fertilizer during the growing season, which is typically spring and early summer. However, specific timing may vary depending on the plant species.
Application Method: Flower fertilizer can be applied in various ways, such as broadcasting granules on the soil surface, mixing with potting soil for potted plants, or diluting liquid fertilizer and applying it directly to the plant's root zone.
Over-fertilization: It's essential to follow the recommended application rates on the fertilizer packaging. Over-fertilization can harm plants, leading to excessive foliage growth at the expense of flowers or even causing nutrient imbalances.
Watering: Proper watering is essential when using flower fertilizer. Water helps distribute the nutrients to the plant's roots and prevents root burn, a condition that can occur when concentrated fertilizer comes into direct contact with the roots.
Soil Testing: For precise fertilization, consider conducting a soil test to determine the specific nutrient needs of your garden. This can help you choose the right fertilizer and avoid over-fertilization.
In summary, flower fertilizer is a specialized type of plant food designed to enhance the growth and blooming of flowering plants. It provides essential nutrients in balanced proportions to promote healthy flower development. Gardeners should select the right type, formulation, and application method of fertilizer based on the specific needs of their plants to achieve optimal results in their gardens.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I use for begonias that are in and outside |
Answer: | Plants need a lot of water when using this product to prevent root burn and damage (Found out the hard way.) I personally wouldn't use it on potted plants indoors. I do use it in outdoor plants in summer, but I soak the soil well first, pour in the diluted Super Bloom, then add a little more water afterward. You also can adjust the water/granular ratio if needed. This all depends on how much rain you're getting, of course. Stunning results, so it's worth the trouble. |
Question: | Would someone please post a photo of the back of the bottle |

The Jobe's Biozome advantage for organic gardening: improves the long-term soil quality of your garden, increases root mass, promotes plant growth & helps your garden resist disease, insects, drought & other unfavorable conditions within a growing season. Delivers long-term benefits without chemicals. Jobe's Biozome is a unique & Proprietary blend of beneficial microorganisms Archaea, mycorrhizal fungi & healthy bacteria. Archaea, a recently identified microorganism found in some of the planet's most extreme environments, such as hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor. In garden applications, scientists have discovered that these microbes actually clean the soil, returning it to a healthier, more natural state. Jobe's Biozome contains a proprietary species of Archaea that quickly break-down complex hydrocarbons & minerals into basic nutrients & trace elements that plants readily absorb. Mycorrhizal fungi expands the surface-absorbing area of the roots by 100 to 1, 000 times, sending out filaments that act as extensions of the plant's root system, helping plants absorb more water & nutrients. In return, the fungi receive essential sugars & other compounds from the plant roots, fueling their own growth. Finally, the healthy bacterial strain in Biozome improves the soil structure & quality, keeping nutrients near the roots. Jobe's Organics Flower & Rose granular fertilizer is OMRI listed & may be used in certified organic food production according to the USDA national organic program. Jobe's Organics Flower & Rose fertilizer is also available as an organic fertilizer spike. Jobe's Organics Rose & flower fertilizers will help your rose garden thrive. User questions & answers
Question: | What is the solution (NPK) on this |
Answer: | There is no such listing as "NPK" on the ingredient percentages |
Question: | For a potted meyer lemon tree, how much should I use |
Answer: | My lemon tree is only about 2 ft. tall and has been inside all winter. I added 1 3/4C. Jobe's fertilizer and watered it well. that was two days ago and it appears to be doing very well. Because my tree has been inside I have been misting the leaves every day.It had about 50 blossoms on it and is very healthy. I hope to plant it in the ground in April or May., |
Question: | What is the percentage of nitrogen, phosphate and potassium in the fertilizer |
Answer: | This fertilizer is 4-4-4. The first number indicates 4% nitrogen, second 4% phosphorus and the third 4% potassium. The best way is to incorporate 4 pounds of 4-4-4 per 100 sq.ft. prior to planting. This kind of fertilizer is called "all purpose" fertilizer. My recommendation is that you analyze your soil with an inexpensive test kit (Amazon has them). Then decide what you want to grow and research on-line what the optimum fertilization ranges are for your specific plants or vegetables. Then, if you incorporate the all purpose fertilizer into you soil before planting you can spot supplement with specific fertilizers as needed. There are many organic solutions available to you. The great thing about Jobe's -09526 is that it is organic so you will be starting off the right way. Lots of luck with your plants. |
Question: | what are the actual ingredients |
Answer: | Protein Hydrolysate from feather meal, bone meal, composted poultry manure, sulfate of potash and various bacteria, endomycorrhizae, ectomycorrhzae and archaea. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this granules? Liquid concentrate |
Answer: | Others are wrong.I use this every two months.my scotts mini broadcast at 2.5 setting.my yard is thick and lush.I also have St Augustine grass.st Augustine likes water but not sitting in it for long periods.it also likes fertilizer.I found the starter applied in the spring and the southern after that the rest of the year works fantastic.Do not use bonus s fertilizer.neighbors have had terrible results with that.As Efraim said do not go by recommend settings.go by half recommend setting.I found 2.5 best on broadcast scotts spreader.also use a liquid weed killer for Augustine grass and only treat problem areas.the grass will grow in thick and choke out future weeds.also at least once a year use a fungicide.scotts disease ex works great.all my neighbors have brown spots i do not.remember here in houston we have very sandy soil so fertilizers dissipate into soil quickly.other areas may require less fertilizing intervals as soil retention may be better. |
Question: | Is it more economical to buy the granules vs the concentrate in this? Do u get more "servings" with the granules or is it the same |
Answer: | Power Grow combined with Liquid Lawn Aerator makes a great starter fertilizer for any type of seed. It provides the nutrients, trace elements and organics needed for deep rooting and quick establishment of the new plants. |
Question: | Can I use this on my container roses |
Answer: | The Power Grow covers 5-10 oz per 1,000 sq. ft. so you will need to determine your lawn size , you can dilute 2-4 oz per gallon of water. |
Question: | Is this a systemic drench |
Answer: | You will want to apply at a rate of 5–10 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. For less severe deficiency or maintenance, apply 5 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. For more severe nutrient deficiency, apply 10 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. |

User questions & answers
Question: | how many gallons will this make |
Answer: | It's one tablespoon per gallon, I have the four pound container. |
Question: | How many pounds in the package |
Answer: | It's a 4 pound package. Inside the bucket you'll find your fertilizer in a cellophane bag, as well as a measuring scoop and even a pamphlet detailing dosing instructions. |
Question: | Can this fertilizer be used for edilbles like tomatoes |
Answer: | Yes, you can use this for edibles. It is my favorite for broccoli. I'm assuming you're concerned with toxicity to humans. It is strictly a fertilizer and has no pesticides or herbicides. Also, the nitrogen content is low enough so that it would not produce the excess foliage in tomato plants as could be a problem with a fertilizer with a higher nitrogen percentage. For plants like lettuce that are eaten for their leaves a fertilizer with more nitrogen would be closer to ideal or slightly more economical. I think the only reason that this fertilizer cannot bear the OMRI organic seal is that it uses a chelating agent called EDTA to enhance the absorption of some minerals. EDTA is also used in toothpaste, cosmetics, as a food preservative, and in EDTA therapy. Unless you are trying to get certified as an organic grower, I see not reason not to use Jack's. |
Question: | What would be the correct amount to put in an old 1 lb miracle grow hose end sprayer? 1 lb of Jack's as with miracle gro amount of granules |
Answer: | Yes I believe that is correct. My bucket says 1 tablespoon per gallon of water. Hope that helps! |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a container grown mandarin orange tree (40" tall). Should I use the all purpose food or find a better N,P,K formula for citrus only |
Answer: | If you already have the all purpose spray use it. Spray the leaves, stems and roots once a week for a month, then decide for your self. If you can't see a difference it's not working for your tree. All my plants are under 4 feet, but my climbing roses. My small figs, goji berries, honeysuckle, hibiscus, jasmine and roses respond to miracle. My other plants do not respond, try and learn. I hope this was helpful. Keith central Florida |
Question: | Anybody have a good experience feeding this to their potted Sago's |
Answer: | YES, I was a over the road trucker for 24 years. I know nothing about plants. This product WORKS, everything under 4 feet needs it. We have reordered 3 X 10 pound to last all year. This and black cow are the two most important things growers need. Hope this was helpful, good luck and GOD bless... Keith and Mary |
Question: | how much fertilizer per water |
Answer: | The product comes with directions For garden plants outside use one tablespoon per gallon. The spoon comeswith the product. For use on inside plants use the small side of the spoon about 1/2 tsp pergallon. for tomatoes use tomato fertilizer, use mir gro 2000421. If you need more help please ask? If you have cabbage problems use a BT product, the little bugs hate it. If you want some spendy stuff use a worm compost tea solution. It is natures organic worm castings, amz sells it good stuff, I think 5lbs for $16.00, Goes a long way. Surprise your neighbors who have a garden. |
Question: | do you have to dilute this in water? I am looking for a sprinkle on and forget about it pellet |
Answer: | You can sprinkle it on and then water it in. Make sure you don't get it to close to the truck (base of the plant) or the leaves as it may burn them. I don't use it without diluting on seedlings. Just on established plants. The problem with sprinkling on is remember it only takes a small amount of the Miracle Grow to make a gallon of water so don't put a lot in the pot. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I accidentally applied to my grape vines. Any advice |
Answer: | This product is a systemic insecticide and fungicide. This means that those poisons are in the plant and fruit. You won't have pests and fungi in your vines but you cannot eat the fruit. Check with the manufacturer for how long you will have to wait before you can eat the fruit. I would guess one season but am not certain |
Question: | So you mix this with water and pour it around the rose bush? Do you have to work it into the soil, or just pour it around the bush? Thank you |
Answer: | Mix with water and pour around the rose bush. Do not need to work into soil. BUT, use the same mixing bucket each time so you don't accidentally use it to mix say fertilizer for tomatoes or other vegs. Keep that bucket just for that! Safer! Barb S |
Question: | Will this kill catapillars |
Answer: | Since I've been using this product, I haven't noticed any caterpillars, so I would say that it at least discourages them. It is a great product for roses. Mind have looked healthier since I started using it. My main problem was black spot and it does a great job of preventing that. I really liked the product. |
Question: | How to mix the concentrate |
Answer: | the top of the can has a built in measuring device.... 2 0z per watering can which is about one gal or maybe little more. I have a 2 ox glass thing that looks like a shot glass. 2 oz is a fairly standard mix ratio of a lot of liquid fertilizers. |
