Answer:	All Gardenias respond well to acid promoting plant foods. A good trick is to plant them, either in pots or the garden, in pure peat moss. Then you can apply a higher phosphorus (middle one of the three numbers) fertilizer to promote flower buds formation without significantly raising the Ph, since peat moss is naturally acidic. This will maintain your Gardenia intensely green and with a good number of flowers.

Answer:	You don't need a sprayer, just mix with water in one gallon containers and pour it around the plant. That should be plenty. As far as I know this is not a follar spray. I have been using it for years. Here's the big secret about it though. Wanna grow giant Boston ferns??? this IS THE SECRET ingredient. I highly suggest you stock up as they are discontinuing this product and renaming it, I have not had a chance to compare the two the old and the new but I bet the makeup is reduced and therefore less potent. I can't loose my reputation of growing huge ones and people coming to the door asking how do I grow them so large? So I'm stocking up in sealed plastic containers and storing in a very dry place. If left open it absorbs moisture in the air and in time it is ruined.

Answer:	"Not doing well" could mean many things. Fertilizer won't fix stress. Holly Tone is recommended for evergreens. Espoma does make a Tree Tone, or you could use 10-10-10, an all around fertilizer if you don't require organic. That said, Holly Tone certainly will not harm your tree, and it is fertilizer.

Your question suggests you are a novice gardner. We all began there. Get a book. I like the Southern Living Garden Book. If you live up North, I am sure Yankees have something like it. It is a little late to fertilize with a long acting agent. I would suggest a liquid or granular feeding. Answer:	The usual recommendation is not to fertilize after July 1 because new growth will be encouraged but will not be winter hardy. My azaleas have done well on one spike per year. I think too much is made of fertilizing. I see plants at unkept old houses which bloom year after year without any care at all. Once established, just prune to remove dead limbs and maintain shape and keep watered in the dry part of the summer. Too much love can kill. Good luck. b
