Nutrient Formulations: Bonide offers various fertilizer formulations to meet the specific needs of different plants and soil types. They produce fertilizers for lawns, gardens, vegetables, flowers, trees, and shrubs.

Additional Products: Besides fertilizers, Bonide offers a range of other gardening and pest control products, such as insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, and weed killers.

User questions & answers
Question: | How long is this shelf stable? And how long once opened |
Answer: | Yes, I use mine mixed with water in a self watering pot. My plant loves it! |
Question: | Is this organic? Can it be used on edible plants and veggies |
Answer: | I water typically from the bottom. I have the terra-cotta pot resting in a saucer with small stones. The plant takes up the water from its roots. |
Question: | Should I be using plant food in addition to fish fertilizer |
Answer: | I've not used Scott's, but am familiar with several other brands including fertilizer blends created by violet-grower companies. I've been using the Bonide AV fertilizer for circa 2 years, and have had great results. The fertilizer composition of 7-10-7 seem to be just right for violets and mine bloom pretty much all year. It is normal for violets to bloom a bit less in winter, especially if the house is cooler. Personally, I recommend this brand--but people who have different growing conditions than mine may have different results. I'd say go with Bonide, and forget the expensive spread! Hint: If you want larger flowers, feed your AV from the bottom using a saucer and 7 to 9 drops of Bonide per quart of aged water (to get rid of chlorine.) Allow your AVs to absorb water from the saucer for about an hour, max. Then be sure to drain off all excess water as violets don't like their "feet" wet all the time. Water next time when soil surface is dry to touch, which might be a week. Also--I use the same AV fertilizer for my phaleonopsis orchids--they've been blooming great this spring. Regards. |
Question: | Does this contain any mercury |
Answer: | If a quart is too much solution for you, consider making half a quart or less. Using a measuring cup so that you get a precise amount of fertilizer into the amount of water you want. The directions on the Bonide container should be sufficient guidance. You should probably not make up more than a week's worth of solution at a time. Fertilizers are good for plants, but if stored too long can invite bacteria and molds. If you plan to use a watering can, you should wash it well with soap and a brush every few months. Rinse well after washing. Good luck! |

Question: | What square footage would this bottle cover if spraying the outside of a building |
Answer: | I have used it at all times of the day although I usually use it in the morning before noon.Just a preference on my part do not think it makes any difference at what time its used. |
Question: | Can this be used for cuttings to root in water |
Answer: | I guess like any other spray bottle. I don't remember having a problem, however, if in doubt, I usually rotate the head in a counter clockwise motion, which usually does the trick. I've used this for years without a problem. |
Question: | How do you use it? On a daily basis or once in a while? Thanks in advance |
Answer: | It came one piece but you will adjust some part . |
Question: | no instructions on the bottle I purchased. Please provide instructions/portions, on application |
Answer: | It doesn't roll well on carpet, but my granddaughter is only five months old. I'm sure an older baby would be able to move about easier. |

Question: | Wisteria tree is 5 years old & hasn't bloomed but is very healthy. I've heard that high phosphorus would help. Is this good or somehing else better |
Answer: | Hi Kate. Personally, I just use it once when I do the initial planting/transplanting and maybe add a follow-up application a couple weeks later if something is especially sensitive... but honestly, the one time application seems to be sufficient. I think it is the best thing out there to reduce transplant shock and encourage new root growth. Best of luck! |
Question: | Can I use it for potted roses |
Answer: | I use 1 capful per gallon, but on the back of my bottle it says "4 tablespoons (2 fl. oz.) to 1 gal. water"...then as to how much of this diluted solution to use on each plant, it varies based on the size of plant... label says "1 pint on mums, geraniums and other annuals; 3 pints for each rose or camellia; for plants larger than 4-foot (trees and shrubs), use 1 gallon of the mixture per plant".. "for houseplants, use 1/2 cup of diluted solution per 1 quart of soil (a 6-inch pot holds approximately 1 quart of soil)." If you go back to the product link, you should be able to zoom in on the picture of the back label, which explains all of this as well. Best of luck! |
Question: | Can I use it for potted roses |
Answer: | This spray encourages your cucumbers to produce more flowers, both male and female. The bees will pollinate for you. If you don't see many bees in your area consider setting a potted catnip plant nearby to draw them in. Catnip wants to grow everywhere so its better to have it growing in a container. |
Question: | is this time released? if yes, how long dose it stay in the soil and release for |
Answer: | No, but what you can do with heavy producers of pollen is take a Qtip and collect pollen and gently apply to the female flowers. Male/female flowers are easy to tell apart. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this product Organic |
Answer: | Yes this is exactly the plant hormone you need to help cuttings root. That's what I bought it for. The Indole-3-butyric acid in this product is an Auxin which prompts new plant cells to become roots. |
- PROMOTES DEVELOPMENT - Once applied, this powder promotes quick root development from cuttings. Simply dip the end of a clipping into the powder and then place it in moist soil, this helps the rooting process of cuttings.
- WORKS ON BULBS AND SEEDS - This product is not exclusive to cuttings. Use this on seeds or bulbs by putting them in a bag with some powder then shake the bag gently to coat the seeds or bulbs.
- STIMULATES ROOT PRODUCTION - This plant growth hormone stimulates root production in hardwood and softwood cuttings. It works well for ornamentals, vegetables, fruit trees, and berries.
- WORKS FOR A VARIETY OF PLANTS - Designed for use on azaleas, mums, geraniums, pachysandra, poinsettias, and a wide range of other plants, this product helps so many plants develop roots.
- IDEAL FOR TRANSPLANTS - When it is time to transplant your plants to different pots or places within your garden, use this product to facilitate the production of healthy roots.
User questions & answers
Question: | I just received this product and there is a date on it 201954531, is this the production date or the expiration date |
Answer: | No, Bonide Triple Super Phosphate is meant to be used outdoors. |
Question: | Has anyone tried this on roses? did it work |
Answer: | Yes, potted roses are typically well established. Follow the label directions for feeding |
Question: | What are the active ingredients |
Answer: | Yes, this product is time released.Granular "Bone Meal" and granular "Phosphate" (Or Triple Super Phosphate) are essentially the same thing... with a couple of differences.Bone Meal can take months to "break-down" enough for the plant to be able to absorb the phosphate. This particular product (Triple Super Phosphate), has been "treated" with a form of Acid... (don't freak-out...this acid is similar to "vinegar acid") and this acid enables the "graduals" to "break-down" much faster than Bone Meal.Hence, this product allows the plant "access" to the phosphate much quicker than Bone Meal.I give this product to my plants each spring (read the directions for the correct amount for your specific plant)...and your plants will "reap-the-benefits"...Slowly... but constantly.... over the next few months. However... if your plants are showing signs of phosphate deficiency, I suggest a liquid Phosphate. Liquid Phosphate will "instantly" give your plant phosphate.BUT.... the plant or plants (who are deficient) will "suck-up" the phosphate "very quickly".And, (depending on the plant and it's "phosphate hunger")... after only 1 or 2 weeks (depending on the specific plant, weather conditions and your type of soil)...the liquid phosphate will be "eaten"... leaving your plants hungry for phosphate "again", after a very short period of time. Here is one example: Roses LOVE phosphate. (they also have many other nutritional needs, but lets just stick with Phosphate). If you have Roses... you need this product. Why? Because Roses are "heavy" feeders... and giving them Triple Super Phosphate in early spring... will give them a constant source of phosphate for months. If you ONLY used "liquid" phosphate for your roses, you'd need to feed them phosphate on a weekly basis. This is Good Stuff ! Hope this was helpful. |
Question: | Does this product contain antifungal capability? Using it for Jade plants |
Answer: | The beetles we had were black and their larvae was red at the Ash Tree. The adults would invade the house en masse. Very few this year because we sprayed the larvae. Still sprayed the base of the house. My neighbors tried it with soapy water claiming that the beetle's waxy wings would cause the beetle to die. I never put anything chemical on my yard but had to make a change to rid the beetles. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this a pint or a quart |
Answer: | The bottle states Indole-3-butyric acid |
Question: | how do i dilute for planting tree |
Answer: | The active ingredient Indole 3-butyic acid stimulates cell growth, tissue differentiation and root growth. It has no anti fungal properties listed in "The Users Guide to Plant Growth Regulators" written by the leading scientist in the field. If you are using on tissue culture, like a little stem, keep your plant medium (soil) on the dry side which avoid rot. Put the cultures in a bright sunny spot and leave them alone, checking only every 5 to 7 days to add water. Benign neglect is the rule of thumb, most people have rotting/fungal problems because they over water the tissue/cuttings. |
Question: | Rooting some hydrangea branches in water. Will this help |
Answer: | According to the label, the source of phosphorus are minerals taken from the ground. So I suppose that in the strictest sense, it's not organic, but it's not derived from petroleum either. Also consider that any 'organic' source of phosphorus would have to get it from minerals in the ground originally. I'm happy with it and have used it in transplanting irises and in Fall planting of garlic. Note that a 5 pound bag goes quite a ways if applied per instructions. |
Question: | What is the mixture ratio |
Answer: | No. Wisteria isn't too fussy about it's soil. Basic "good" soil is all it needs. Give it a simple feeding of: 0-10-10 in early spring. (avoid Nitrogen until it blooms), then give it a 10-10-10 each spring, once it starts to bloom. There are a few reasons a mature "Vine" won't bloom. If you purchased it from a nursery, it should be a "propagated" plant. (Google that if you don't know what I mean). IF, Wisteria is grown from a "seed", it can take 10-15 YEARS to bloom! There are three or four reasons why Wisteria won't boom:1. It was started from a seed. 2. Poor growing conditions (It needs at least 1/2 day of sun or more). 2.Poor pruning. 3.Freeze damage. If your Wisteria was started from seed, dump-it and go buy a new nursery plant. And, save your sanity. Amazon has a lot of excellent garden books. Buy one that has "vine" information. Good luck! I hope this was helpful. |
