Question: what is the approximate weight when water is in the bath? My hanger only holds 10lbs
Answer: The bird bath is under 3 lb. With water, not much more. You should be fine with the weight. It is a beautiful bath.
Question: How deep is the bowl and would a solar-powered fojntaun work in it
Answer: The bowl isn't too deep, I do have a small solar powered fountain in it. I wouldn't recommend the circle solar fountains
Question: will this hang correctly from a shepherd hook - no trees
Answer: Yes. Mine is hanging from a hook on a pole. It should hang straight.
Question: is the inside smooth
Answer: It is glass so it’s smooth but because it has embedded shapes, it is not perfectly smooth. As I’m using mine for a hummingbird bath, I put glass pebbles on the bottom to give them somewhere to land if they need to. Looking forward to seeing whether they use it or not. Hope that helps.

The naming of this cultivar as a Dwarf variety is a somewhat relative term, although it will mature into a good sized plant with a mature size of about 3 to 5 feet if left to its own devices, it grows smaller than several of the other types.

The prolific scarlet red puff ball shaped flowers begin as small clustered buds that resemble small berries, and are present throughout the warm season beginning in the very early spring and lasting until the nights drop into the 40's and 50's in the Fall. The flowers are very attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds.

The Dwarf Powder Puff Plant grows bushy and upright with multiple, thin, cane like branches and unusual medium sized oval, pinnate leaves, that fold together like praying hands at night.

Use it as hedge, boundary, mixed perennial background, or potted plant. It is a frequent choice for bonsai culture.

User questions & answers

Question: what growing zone am I in
Answer: Here is the link to the USDA growing zones. http://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/PHZMWeb/
Question: How would these do in fairbanks alaska. our summers are good but not sure if they would winter over. any thoughts
Answer: I do not think they would make it through your winters, but it is such a wonderful colorful plant, that if you kept it potted and brought it in in the winter in front of a window, you could enjoy it all year.
Question: Are these plants good for bonsais
Answer: You could but I would not recommend them for that. As you need to keep a bonsai trimmed and then you would not have any bloom
Question: How large are these
Answer: LOL I've had several and killed them all. I've always treated them as a bonsai subject; kept trimmed in an indoor container no more than 14" high, 12" diameter. I used to have a wonderful outdoor deck for my houseplants, and would allow them to grow freely over the summer months (I'm in zone 6). I would then trim them back before bringing them indoors for winter.

User questions & answers

Question: When is the best time to plant these seeds, fall? I’m in upstate New York
Answer: I would plant after the frosts have abated, and the soil starts warming up. I normally plant the tail end of April into May since these flowers will bloom differently until the freeze gets them. Mine are still blooming even now, and the bees and birds, and butterfly's are still hitting them even as the weather is cooling down. I've ordered these for years now, and have always had great success. I do mix them with sand when I spread them out for uniform coverage, and keeping the birds from spotting them. Then I cover that with a lite coat of good soil mix like Miracle Grow.
Question: What can I do? I planted all of the seeds over a month ago and not seeing any flowers
Answer: When you plant them the soil needs to be damp for 12 days to germinate, also I used a little bit of fertilizer to help grow.
Question: can i plant these in the beginning of February in ohio
Answer: The recommended planting time is after the last freeze of the season.
Question: Are these seeds neonicotinoid-free? I don’t see that stated anywhere
Answer: They are free of neonicotinoids. I've used them for two years and my Bees and Hummingbirds thrive on them.

User questions & answers

Question: Is it deer resistant
Answer: I would say probably not. There is purple cone flowers and black eye'd susans. That type of mix.
Question: How do these seeds hold up in a desert climate? When should I plant
Answer: Planting in the desert takes a little extra care. It is best to wait until a little later in the Summer (mid to late august) when temperatures aren't as extreme so the little seedlings don't get toasted by the sun! Desert soils can also be very sandy so make sure to add lots of amendment and make sure the soil stays moist so your seedlings don't dry out.
Question: Will this grow in SC red dirt
Answer: If the ground is conditioned conclusively (i.e., pulverized) to allow germination with proper fertilization, you should not have any problems with growth in the SC red dirt.
Question: Are these just seends or does it contain a filler/medium
Answer: Just seeds.

Question: Are there any red flower replacements
Answer: I only saw the yellow colored flower replacements .
Question: Are these soft or hard plastic
Answer: I'm not sure what would be considered soft or hard plastic. They are flexible if that helps.
Question: It says 2 to 5 months to ship. Really
Answer: Are you sure it's not 2-5 days. I order from Amazon Prime, and it has never taken that long. Double check on the shipping time.
Question: Why are the replacement flowers as expensive as the feeder itself
Answer: That is a good questions, and I am not sure how to answers that one. I initially bought several feeders, so it is easy for me to buy replacement flowers so I can change the ones I need to change. Since I purchased little brusher designed to clean the flowers, I do not have to change them out as often.

User questions & answers

Question: Over how small of an area should these be cast to allow enough room for all of them to grow and blossom well? 100 sq ft, 10 sq ft or
Answer: The rule of thumb is 50 - 70 seeds per square foot. So, 30,000 seeds is perfect for 500 square feet. However, I always assume that there are a number of seeds that will not germinate. So, I use this size for my 250 square foot area.
Question: How many packets of seeds are included in this item
Answer: One package. It is a mix of seeds . They are in good shape and the delevery was fast .
Question: How many guest favors can you make out of these seeds
Answer: You mean before of after planting? I am thinking I wouldn't want to divide to more than 1000 seeds for a person (30) , but you would probably want to add more filler. We planted these between the bottom of a retaining wall and a fence so we wouldn't have to mow. I started on outsides and planted more every few weeks (working in ). This made a "V" shape of flowers and blooms spring through fall.
Question: How many seeds did you put in a hole
Answer: U didn't put them in a hole just raked soil and spread. Them when. They bloom I'll transplant some of them

Question: Are these deer resistant
Answer: In all honesty, I don't know what is deer resistant. If they can't find food & they are hungry, deer's munch on just about everything. I've tried sprays, soaps, granular products, netting, you name it.... Latest one last summer was a sensor hose on a stand, sensor picks up movement and hose sprays water, well they scattered the first week, another week later they started to just open their mouths for a drink hahahaha.............Fencing is about the best solution...
Question: When is the best time in Texas to sow the seeds
Answer: Hello, you can sow these in the spring.

User questions & answers

Question: Plant in containers or ground? I haven’t had much luck planting seeds in The ground in the past
Answer: I did in a planter. I’m also growing them inside. I’m having good luck. I keep the planter on my window sill. I’m also using miracle grow seed starting potting mix soil which has been working great.
Question: How much ground does one bag cover
Answer: The seed pack is about 2 ounces of 100% seed. If you follow the directions and add in 4-10 times the volume by weight to make it easier to spread, then you can get up to 500 square feet. If you just spread it right out of the bag you won't get much as far as square footage because it will be too densely packed. This is the difference between what you may find in the stores. Some seed packs have 95% filler and make you pay for the filler.
Question: these came without any planting/growing instructions. Is there information available
Answer: There is an insert inside the bag and the instructions are on that. Here is a rundown on the instructions: To prepare the seedbed, rake or lightly till the surface of the soil to a maximum depth of 1 inch. Shallow soil preparation will limit the disturbance of dormant weed seed. It is helpful to thoroughly mix a carrier such as sand, perlite, potting soil, etc., to the seed to increase volume and aid in even distribution over your site. We recommend a minimum of 4 parts inert material to 1 part seed. Broadcast one half of your seed as uniformly as possible over the prepared area. Sow the remaining seed in a direction perpendicular to the initial sowing. Press the seed into the soil by walking or rolling over the newly planted area. Do not over the seed and deeper than 1/16 of an inch. Some of the seeds will remain visible. Thanks! Robert Owner, NatureZ Edge
Question: Can these be fall planted for spring
Answer: Fall is the perfect time to plant wildflowers. You'll follow Mother Nature's cycle - flowers naturally drop their seeds in the fall, and they overwinter, then germinate and bloom in spring. Fall planting is an especially good time to plant in areas where you want to conserve water.
