Question:	How do you secure this strip around the brewing jar
Answer:	I use a rubber band to secure mine. Velcro strips or gaffer's tape would also work. If you're using this to brew kombucha or a comparable drink, whatever you do, don't set the jar on the heating pad, which is what another user recommended. That's the last thing you'd want to do. Doing this offsets yeast growth and will ruin batches. The variance in temperature throughout the container will also be greater.

Answer:	I'm sure you could, because it is a gentle heat hovering around 70*. You could set the planter inside another container inserting the heater between the two pots! Just be sure the plant pot is large enough for the root system, because with the warmth your plant will continue to grow throughout the winter.

Answer:	The optimal temperature is 37 °C (98.6 °F) so unless your ambient is at or above body heat, Kefir will benefit from a bit of extra heat. It will not grow well under 20 °C (68 °F) or over 45 °C (113 °F). Note that the 3" x 20" strips will wrap around a 6-7" jar.

Answer:	I use mine to heat my 29 gallon reptile aquarium. Get the thermostat for it because these mats run at about 100 degrees without it.

Answer:	This mat can heat up to about 87 F, occasionally it may reach 90 degrees. You can try to purchase one to experiment with it, but if you're planning to attempt to keep a battery from losing its charge during cold climates (Ex. powersports battery), maybe you'd want to try a battery maintainer/ float charger. Hopefully this helps a bit.

Answer:	These mats are preset to between 70 and 85 degrees. You would need an external controller for more precise control. The company makes other models with a controller (for more money). These mats are perfect for starting seeds and I have used them for 4 months now with great success. I have two, one for each tray in my propagating rack.

Question:	Is this safe to place on a wood floor or plastic table
Answer:	I lay it on a plastic tray. I’ve used them for 2 years with no problems. They don’t get hot enough to melt stuff. But just to be on the safe side with your wooden floor, I would put it on a tray if possible. I used the trays because once the seedling sprouts you need to be able to water the plants.the shelf has a lip to it so it keeps extra water from going all over. Good luck!
Question:	Mats warm up when plugged in, but go cold when a tray is placed on them. Is anyone else having problems with this
Answer:	I've had my mat for a long time and never had this problem. I find that it does take about 20 minutes for the trays to warm up, so they may feel cold when you first place them on the mat. But they do warm up. Maybe try giving them a few minutes to fully warm up. If they don't warm up within 30 minutes you might have a defective mat.

Answer:	Giving bottom heat to seed for earlier or quicker germination is the goal here. Consistency of bottom heat provided by a controller best ensures success. Without a controller your soils may remain too warm or cool for consistent germination. It also helps the efficiency of your mat to place 1/2 construction styrofoam beneath the mat to maximize pads output. A small thermostat inserted into your soil also allows you to monitor the soils temps to best maintain the optimum soil temps for a particular seed.

• Position thermostat up and away from seedling trays and stray water. Do not submerge

Answer:	I would say no this is a warming mat not a cooling mat.
Question:	can I power two 48" x 20" mats with one thermostat
Answer:	I would say no. There is only one probe on the thermostat and it can only deliver temperature information for one mat. That has been my experience with other brands of heat mats as well. You can "power" them, but I'd say you can't rely on consistent temperature for both mats.

Answer:	I have 5 mats now and I use them for my greenhouse specifically. Love them!!!!

Answer:	I use mine for growing Hosta seeds. They are only on the pad to start the germination process. Once I see sprouts I pull them off the mat and put them under lights.

Answer:	No, it does not come with the controller. It is only the mat with attached power cord. It doesn't get super warm. It sits under my 10 gallon covered terrarium and keeps it at approx 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Answer:	Sorry . . Item doesn't have it printed on the mat & I discarded the boxes, plastic wrapping & anything else it may have been packaged with.

Answer:	No, it only comes in one temperature. If you have seeds that are very sensitive to a germinating temperature, you should probably look for a mat that can give you exactly what you need.
Question:	Do i need to get a digital thermostal controller for this or does it work ok without the controller
Answer:	Depends on what you're using it for. Like it says on the box, the temp of the mat is derived from the ambient heat in the room and will be 10-20 degrees warmer. If you need more control, then you will need a thermostat. The thermostat will help keep an even heat, but if your room is very hot or very cold you may need to find another solution. So, if your room is only 32 degrees, the mat may get up to 50 degrees, but you can't crank up thermostat to get above that 50 degree temperature. It will try its best to maintain the 50 degrees.
Question:	This product is just the pad?i have to buy the dome apart

Answer:	I don't believe the temperature on the heat mat is adjustable. Living in south Florida, I would be very surprised if you needed a heat mat for seedlings. I use it in the winter as we keep the heat at night in the 60s. 78+ should be plenty warm for seedlings.

Answer:	I doubt it would protect against freezing unless the temps are only near freezing but not much below. The mat only raises temps around ten degrees at room temperature in my experience. Placing the food and mat inside an insulated enclosure on the porch might do the trick though.

Answer:	Both UL and MET are NRTLs (Nationally Recognized Testing Labs) under OSHA. Looks like this company was both UL and MET certified in the past (per their pictures) but are no longer since it appears they have stopped using the UL Mark per the remarks and questions. (They need to update their pictures and descriptions!) MET would test to UL standard number 499 for the MET-US mark (United States) and the CSA standard C22.2 No.64 (Canada) for the C-MET part of the mark. Previously, the C-UL-US meant the same, but that UL was the certification body. Also different models may have different markings depending on which ones the company submitted to which certifier.
