- The "T" in T5 stands for the tubular shape, and the number represents the diameter in eighths of an inch.
Spectrum and Light Output:
- T5 grow lights produce a balanced spectrum of light, including both cool and warm colors, suitable for various stages of plant growth.
- They emit a high-intensity light output, making them effective for promoting healthy growth and supporting photosynthesis in plants.
Efficiency and Energy Consumption:
- T5 grow lights are known for their efficiency and relatively low energy consumption compared to traditional fluorescent lights.
- They convert a significant portion of electrical energy into usable light for plants, making them cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
Application in Indoor Gardening and Hydroponics:
- T5 grow lights are widely used in indoor gardening setups, including hydroponic systems, to provide adequate light for plants when natural sunlight is limited.
- They are suitable for starting seeds, vegetative growth, and flowering stages of plants, making them versatile for a plant's entire growth cycle.
Fixture Types and Designs:
- T5 grow lights come in various fixture types, including single bulb fixtures, multi-bulb fixtures, and customizable configurations with multiple tubes in a single unit.
- These fixtures can be mounted in different ways, such as overhead, vertically, or in a rack system, providing flexibility in the layout of the indoor garden.
Benefits:
- T5 grow lights offer a cooler operating temperature compared to some other types of grow lights, reducing the risk of heat stress on plants.
- They are suitable for small to medium-sized indoor gardens and are often preferred for propagation, seedlings, and early plant growth stages.
T5 grow lights are a popular choice among indoor gardeners and hydroponic enthusiasts due to their energy efficiency, versatility, and ability to support healthy plant growth throughout various stages of development.

User questions & answers
Question: | How many amps |
Answer: | This is what I’m using it for. Doesn’t get hot and keeps my counters protected |
Question: | Will one of these units be sufficient for a 32"x32"x63" reflective grow tent? One exotic hot pepper plant will be grown in it |
Answer: | yes you can , i did not buy for that purpose but i have a Bunn coffee maker with the water heater and i checked, the plastic under the tank does not allow heat transfer |
Question: | How do you open the lamp to change the ballast |
Answer: | Like material. |
Question: | is the fixture itself 24" in length or is that the bulb size |
Answer: | I have Formica countertops. I use the mats on each side of my sink for dishes to be hand washed and the other side for drying. I love them and the fact the water rolls off into sink. I would not think they would damage granite at all as granite is water resistant. We also use them for making beverages to protect countertop. I love them and would buy again. Very versatile. User questions & answers
Question: | How much heat does this produce with the 6500k bulbs |
Answer: | These lights are hot for germination purposes. You asked a good question. Before I bought these lights I read this — and the responses, which mostly seemed to miss your point. The correct application of your question has to do with how the heat of the bulbs affect the growing/germination conditions for the seeds/seedlings. I bought the fixture — then ordered another one before really learning the correct answer. It took 10 days — and no germination of seeds I had planted — to actually put a meat thermometer into the soil and learn that the soil temperature was 94 degrees. I raised the lights to 7 inches — waited some hours — and the temperature had gone down to 81. That was with all four lamps lit. Seeds will likely be cooked with these lights at the height with a plastic dome over the flats (about 4 inches above soil surface) if all four lights are on. As the old joke goes — lights, or cool....can’t have both;((. I am trying to decide what will yield the best germination condition.....four lights on at 8 to 10” height, or two bulbs at 4” height. If the latter, which two will give best germination. Wish I had the warning. Could have saved me some precious — and expensive seeds — and precious time. |
Question: | Is there a significant difference between the grow lights for seedlings and the bloom lights |
Answer: | If you go with a full spectrum mix that's good from start to finish. I use all 6500 K while vegging & all 2700 k for blooming. The answer is YES. just remember 6500 for vegging & 2700 for blooming. |
Question: | Anyone using this fixture for orchids? What bulbs would be best |
Answer: | The bulbs that come with it are terrific .. 54watts each and put off a great spectrum from what my plants tell me ;) also they run so cool I keep the plants within 3"-5" from the fixture holding 4bulbs |
Question: | Can you hang these sideways? Or any other angle |
Answer: | they are meant for hanging horizontally, I dont know how one would do it sideways nor why. Note that if plant tips touch the tubes they will burn, the tubes are warmer than t12 bulbs. |
