Answer:	Thank you for your excellent question. The pH of the water can affect your results. In areas that have excessively hard water (water with lots of minerals in it), the pH of the water will be strongly alkaline (pH of 8.5 and higher), and this can impact the reading you will get from your Garden Tutor Soil pH Test Strips. The impact is typically about .5 of a point for pH, but the drift can be up to 1 point. For most gardeners getting a pH reading within .5 of a point is sufficient. Most municipal tap water has a pH of 6.5 to 8.5, so using tap water will be OK but may cause your reading to be off about .5 of a point. If you want to get the best reading possible from your test strips, it's a good idea to use fresh unopened distilled water. You can check the manufacturing date on the unopened distilled water container, and if it is under 30 days old, it should be about a 7.0 pH. When using distilled water, you can be assured that you will be getting the most accurate soil pH reading possible. One of the main reasons distilled water is used for soil pH testing is that it has a low "buffer capacity" and will not meaningfully impact the actual pH reading of a soil sample. It is important to note that the Garden Tutor Soil pH Test Strips are calibrated for soil testing only, so just dipping the test strips into straight water won't give you an accurate pH reading of the water. The Meaning of the Read Scale

Light sensor

Relative light intensity: 0-2000LUX



Moisture sensor

Red: 1-3 (dry)

Green: 4-7 (wet)

Blue: 8-10 (very wet)



PH sensor

Red: 3.5-7PH (alkaline)

Green: 7-8PH (acid)



Using Steps:

Step 1: Push the switch to the humidity, pH or light position.

Step 2: Insert the probe into 2-4 inches of soil (2/3 of the probe).

Step 3: Adjust the position of the probe until the pointer on the dial slightly swings.

Step 4: After 10 seconds, please pay attention to the moisture/pH value in the dial.

Step 5: Remove the probe from the soil and wipe it clean after each use.



Tips:

1. This soil meter can only be used in soil. Do not use it to directly test any liquid, such as pure water, lemon juice, vinegar, etc., otherwise the probe may be damaged.

2. Do not insert the soil meter into very hard soil or touch hard objects, otherwise the probe will be easily damaged.

3. Do not insert the probe into the soil for longer than the time required for measurement.

4. The soil meter cannot accurately measure the intensity of the growth lamp because most bulbs lack the entire spectral range of sunlight. To maximize the accuracy of sunlight readings, point the light sensor on the top of the meter toward the sun.
