User questions & answers

Question: I would like to buy replacement blades but cannot find them, could someone share a link to replacement blades for these
Answer: Good timers they do gum up though as any would.
Question: What is the difference between 399241-1002 and the "2020 version
Answer: I don't know but I can tell you these are the most annoying snips on the market. The locking mechanism has to be rethought. It locks every two or three snips. Also, they pinch my hand; I have to hold them in a certain way to avoid that happening...There are other pruning snips on the market that are much better.
Question: Do these rust quickly
Answer: Fiskars pruning snips do not rust easily. I’ve used mine all season and they’re still as good as new. If mine get moist or wet, I dry the blades before putting the cap on for storage.
Question: Do you sell or have a link to a place that extra spring
Answer: You can contact Fiskar customer service. They should be able to send you replacement springs.

User questions & answers

Question: are these made in china
Answer: YES they are made in China. The build quality of them isn't what it used to be lol I recently bought a pair a few months ago and the spring went flying off, a month later I found the spring and put back together but they were never quite the same again. but I have two pair from the early 2000's that are still working. They just don't make them like that anymore
Question: Is the length really 10.75"? My current Fiskars snip is 6" and look like this product
Answer: I don't know if your question is about the same snips I bought. This is the measurement of mine { blade is 1 3/4 inches}. The {overall length is 5 3/4 inches}.
Question: does this cut woody stems
Answer: Scissors are very small. Trying to cut woody stems would ruin the blades. These are more for indoor use.
Question: The snips work well but the spring quickly lost its tension. Where do you get a replacement spring
Answer: I had a similar scenario happen to me, they do have replacement springs right here on Amazon directly from Amazon Prime. Look up Glittering Bazaar. They have a 2 pack for $6.99. Hope that helps

User questions & answers

Question: I kinda have a black thumb, but I am trying to learn. My houseplant needs pruning, are these the right type for this
Answer: Not unless you have very large plants with substantial stems. These bypass pruners are to heavy-duty for delicate plants; buy smaller, lighter weight "snippers" for leaves and thin stems/branches. Otherwise, I applaud you trying to overcome your black thumb. Remember: common sense goes a long way in caring for house plants. Good luck
Question: Where are these made
Answer: I took the rubber handles off to see if there was any information as to where they are made. I found nothing. They sell them at Home Depot if you can look at the packaging there. Sorry I couldn’t help you.
Question: will this cut thru bamboo easily (clumping kind not giant 4 inch round one
Answer: For me these pruners easily cut through branches up to about half an inch wide. I have never tried cutting bamboo with them however.
Question: how do you slide back the safety catch? I can't move it
Answer: It should slide forward and backward easily. Put a drop of WD40 around it.

User questions & answers

Question: Which is better. Fiskers soft grip bypass pruner or the hr Fiskers power level anvil pruners
Answer: Depends on the purpose and the user. For myself I like the anvil pruners for heavier stuff, but my wife likes the bypass pruners. (We run a seasonal florist business).
Question: What is the the overall length and width (at the handles) - the latter so I can judge if my hand will span it easily
Answer: Open(ready to cut): handles measure 4.9" to 3" toward the blade. The length of the grip is 4.25". Closed in the cut complete position as pictured, the handles span 2".
Question: How to lock/unlock this pruner
Answer: It has this latch about where your thumb is (if you are right handed) which you push into a notch on the back of the blade. You need to push it firmly, with your thumb, to engage it. It disengages easily by squeezing the handles and pulling it out by sliding the thumb over the latch. Although not part of your question, a negative I have with the pruner is this notch should be larger as the latch occasionally disengages while in my pocket.
Question: Can you buy extra blades for this
Answer: i would imagine the blade would be as much as the entire tool. the cutting edge is a solid part of the design but Fiskars would be your go to for answers. I would like to know what the answer may be as well. please repost your findings for us all here who has purchased this pruner.

User questions & answers

Question: What sharpener works with this product? My blades are dull and I need to sharpen
Answer: Any sharpener that you would use on any other scissor. But be careful when you get to the end if the cutters...they are very, very pointed and sharp. I use my husbands knife sharpener.
Question: How many layers of flannel can these cut through
Answer: I use mine for cutting felt for ornaments but generally only cut one layer at a time. I like the sharp cutting you can do with the tips. Helps with small details. I bet you could cut through two layers of flannel.
Question: Says it is 5 inches long, description says 8 inches-how long is it? How wide is it in the closed position
Answer: These sellers seem confused about what they are selling. From the tip of the blade to the of the handles, in the closed position, the shears are 6 1/8 inch long. The functional part of the shears blade is 1 3/4 inch long while the full blade is 1 7/8 inch long. At the widest part of the handle in the closed position, the handle is 1 5/8 inch. A hint: expect the lock to fail as it is plastic and after minimal use my locks have failed on two pair of these shears. They continue to be functional, though.
Question: What is difference between these & titanium ones, other than metal
Answer: The titanium Shear blades will stay sharper for a longer period of time.

Fiskars 7.9-12 Foot Extendable Tree Pruning Stik Pruner (92406935K)

Fiskars

Based on 1 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Fiskars Pruning Stik Tree Pruner makes it easy to cut high or low with a level of control traditional pruners with exterior ropes can’t match. A long, lightweight pole lets you cut high branches without the hassles and dangers of using a ladder, make low cuts without sore knees from kneeling or back strain from bending and easily reach into dense, prickly shrubs or tight spots. For the reach you need to cut your highest branches, the pole extends all the way to 12 foot and locks securely. The rope-free design means you can use both hands to maximize your power and accuracy, and an easy-to-grip sliding handle makes the pruning action smooth and simple. An actuating ball at the end of the pole lets you reach even farther and still prune with precision, an included 15 inch saw blade makes it easy to take down thicker branches, and the cutting head rotates up to 230 degrees to let you prune and saw at tough angles. The fully hardened, precision-ground blade stays sharp, and a low-friction, rust-resistant coating makes every cut easier.

  • Ideal for pruning high branches and reaching tight spaces
  • Rope-free design gives you two-handed control and power
  • Power-Stroke chain-driven gearing provides maximum cutting power
  • Fully hardened steel pruning blade with non-stick coating stays sharp and cuts up to a 1¼" diameter smoothly
  • Lifetime warranty

User questions & answers

Question: What is the wgt of the unit
Answer: 3.8 lb. without the saw. The saw add 0.55 lb.
Question: How does one operate the shears part of the tool? On other products I see a squeeze handle at the base of the pole. Don't see one here
Answer: The orange handle on the shaft slides up and down to work the shears. When the pole saw is fully expanded and the orange handle is out of reach, there is real strong nylonish-type cable attached to handle t pull for easy operation of the shears. I find that this gives me more flexibility in my posture which is important when using for extended periods of time. This particular Fiskars tool is awesome = in my opinion the best "medium duty" pole pruner, by far for these reasons. (1) It's FAR LIGHTER than other pole pruners; if you are going to be using a pole saw for more than 15-30 minutes at a time, you're gonna love this model (2) Very sharp, and like all Fiskars tools, the blade is made from quality metal that maintains a nice sharp edge. (3) THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ONE - there is no big "knobby thing or pulley set up on the end; this makes it lighter to use but also allows you to get into tighter spaces for finer detailing. (4) The telescoping mechanism works efficiently and very easily (5) One can position the angle of the shears for cleaner, better quality cuts.. I'm a professional botanist, gardening columnist and gardening instructor, and I highly recommend this pole pruner.
Question: Where can I get a replacement strap for my Fiskars 9240 telescoping pruning stick
Answer: I sent them a request for a replacement strap for my 9240 because it frayed at the end entering the pole when fully extended. I also sent a picture. To my surprise they sent me a new one. Not just the strap but a whole new pruner. Now that’s customer service and lifetime warranty at its best. Thanks Fiaksrs
Question: What is the largest sized branch which can be cut with the pruning shear
Answer: The pruner blades measure about 1-1/8" apart so it should do up to 1" as stated in the specs. I've cut about 3/4" branches with no issues.

Versatile Rope-Free Pruner Makes it Easy to Reach High Branches without A Ladder

Fiskar's innovative 9240 telescoping Pruning Stik Tree Pruner makes it easy to cut high or low with a level of control traditional pruners with exterior ropes can’t match. You can cut high branches without the hassles and dangers of using a ladder. In addition, you can make low cuts without sore knees from kneeling. The Pruning Stik will help prevent back strain from bending, and it easily reaches into dense, prickly shrubs or tight spots. The rope-free design means you can use both hands to maximize your power and accuracy, and an easy-to-grip sliding handle makes the pruning action smooth and simple. An actuating ball at the end of the shaft lets you reach even farther and still prune with precision, and the cutting head rotates up to 230-degrees to let you prune at tough angles. The Fiskar's 9240 telescoping version includes a 15-inch saw blade to take down thicker branches. The 9240 tree pruner extends to a full 12-foot. The Fiskars’ 9240 Pruning Stik includes a lifetime warranty.
