User questions & answers
Question: | Can these cut grass? Looking to cut a bank of cheatgrass down |
Answer: | These are manual shears, no gears or cams that would require lubrication. I've used them in the lake to cut weeds below the surface. They cut right through the 1" rope that was securing the boat (Not the intended target), just as easily as they cut the weeds. I put them in the sun to dry, no signs of rust and they still work like a charm. If you wanted to spray them with WD40 or rub a light oil on them, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt - but I don't think it is necessary. |
Question: | Are these good for cutting through tall grass & mixed foliage too dense for a weed whacker |
Answer: | I think you can use for cutting ivy plants or some bushes. |
Question: | What type of oil is to be used after each usage |
Answer: | I am not sure what kind of surface you are asking about. The kit I got had a smooth surface. It was a fun kit to build. I painted with NATO camo design. It came out very nice and it was fun to build. My sun-in-law who was a tank conmmander has it on his desk. He asked me to put his tank number on it which I did. |
Question: | Can I use this to get rid of invasive ivy growth |
Answer: | They are flex tracks. They will rotate but not under power. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What type of warranty is there with these? I have a pair and the handle came apart from the blade. What suggestions do you have for me |
Answer: | I dont know anything about the warranty. You might want to ask Amazon customer service. I have done a lot of tree trimming with mine and they have held up great so far. |
Question: | Can I use these in a very long battle with honeysuckle? Will they hold up to years of cutting the vine at ground level? I'll be making many many cuts |
Answer: | I can't say how long they'd last and I guess how well it would cut your honeysuckle at the base depends on how thick that is, but I've been very happy with the cutting power of the loppers I bought. They don't require a lot of strength to use in proportion to the size of branch they'll cut. I'm very happy with them. |
Question: | Can anyone tell me how long the handles are? Thank you |
Answer: | The handles are 22" long. I highly recommend this lopper! I had rotator cuff surgery in 2002 and still have to watch stress to the joint. This is a perfect cutter that requires very little effort or extension. |
Question: | Where are these loppers made? I hate how amazon doesn't show that many times |
Answer: | Made in China. Lifetime warranty from Fiskars home off. Madison Wi. My 8 ft. to 16 ft. Fiskars tree pruner broke. I contacted office. Fed-Xd new $95 pruner to Hawaii. No Charge! |

User questions & answers
Question: | How wide does the 180 degree, not the 360 degree rotating, one open to? i have small hands and need to be sure i can hold it when opened. thanks |
Answer: | Truth in advertising: I bought the 360-degree swivel model. However, even if your hands are small I am sure you can hold the 180-degree model just fine. Why? Because when your hand is fully inserted into the handle your hand's bone structure and muscle pressure will only allow the shears to open as wide as your hand allows, no more. Hope that helps, and whatever pair of shears you decide on, happy cutting! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Where is the tool made |
Answer: | NO. These are great hedge shears and are really meant for cutting more fine stem or twiggy items like hedges - think boxwood or trimming Christmas trees into shape. Loppers or hand pruners are what you want for bushes. Hedge shears just cut without any consideration for proper pruning points, i.e, the ends will brown and you may be cutting through leaves etc. They are good for hedges that quickly grow back when sheared at the right time of the year so you don’t see the brown ends. Always make sure they are kept sharp. The English are big hedge people and they sharpen at every use or several times a day on long hedges. Hand pruners or loppers allow you to cut at a specific point , i.e., the growing point so there isn’t a long stem to die back or through a leaf that will brown and die. Like for roses, you always cut back close to the nearest outward facing 5 leaf and this enables you to get quicker rebloom - you would never use a hedge shears but instead hand pruners or loppers. You can cut anything with just about anything i.e. a pair of scissors can cut small thin twigs but it isn’t good for the life of the scissors, the health of the plant nor your hands and wrists. To keep a plant healthy, you need sharp cuts with no mashing, ripping or tearing which would leave the bark open to diseases and pests. I can’t imagine cutting tall grass or mixed foliage too dense for a weed wacker with these hedge shears. First you would have to bend over low to the ground to get to the bottom, and also you would ruin these and your yourself. If you have that kind of thick weedy matter, you need something else. If mostly grass...use a scythe (curved blade on long handle) but that is a workout or use a riding mower (but not a finish mower, nor an expensive zero turn) or if a big area i,e, acre+ - get someone to bush hog it for you. If mostly brushy twiggy stuff - again riding mower, bush hog or use long handle loppers to cut each one to the ground. If you have a very small area like a over grown flower bed...then after a rain, hands and knees and weed it the old fashion way and make sure you get the whole root out. Roundup is a possibility if there isn’t anything of value but be careful getting close to anything you want to keep. Also if a grass area that has overgrown with weeds etc but has good lawn underneath - an appropriate weed killer. Check with your local extension agent, or a turf shop, or pay someone who does this professionally. There is one more option if you are thinking a string weed eater won’t do it though a good quality gas trimmer will cut through most thick grasses and twiggy stuff. But you can get a brush blade - there is one called the Beaver, another called MaxPower/Razor, etc and they are sold on Amazon too. They come in different sizes 7”-12”, cost anywhere from $60-$120, cut 2-3” diameter (small sapling tree) and these fit on just about any gas powered weed eater and come with the adapter and blade. NOW IMPORTANT - these are not for inexperienced or for teens, or for physically unstable people - those who stumble, trip, get dizzy, etc. These will cut through large material 2-3”+ depending on blade size and horse power of weed eater. These look like a circular saw blades and while they work great can do a lot of damage if they were to get caught in long loose pants or if swinging around. The last and final suggestion would be hire someone with the right equipment. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the blade length on these |
Answer: | Usable cutting length, when open is just under 5 inches [that would be for each blade]. The length of the blades from point to the end of the unusable portion- of the blade- is about 7.5 inches. |
Question: | Are these really Fiskars? I just received them and see no branding on them |
Answer: | Hi Itzik G, I checked my shears and they don't have any branding mark on them either. So I can't tell you that you if they are really Fiskars. All I can tell you is that they worked for me so far and are so much better then the old plastic handled ones I had. |
Question: | Does anyone know if there is a sheath for these shears, and where I can get one |
Answer: | When I got these the only 'sheath' was a piece of cardboard. Perhaps, they've added a sheath since I got mine; and that should be on/in the description section. There is, also, a metal arm that has a rivet- which holds the blades together, which was never locked in place. So, almost immediaty it fell off into vegetation. I lost it and have never been able to use these Fisker Shears, again. |
Question: | Do the blades swivel to cut at different angles |
Answer: | No. They stay as you see them in the picture. Perpendicular to the handles. |
