10 best ames true temper cultivators
Ames True Temper cultivators are hand tools designed for gardening and lawn care, specifically for tilling and preparing soil for planting and cultivation. Here's what you need to know about them:
Purpose:
- Cultivators are used to break up soil, remove weeds, and aerate the ground in gardens and flowerbeds.
- They are essential tools for preparing soil before planting seeds, bulbs, or young plants.
Design:
- Ames True Temper cultivators typically consist of a long handle made of wood or metal, with a set of curved or forked metal tines at the working end.
- The tines are designed to be sharp and sturdy, allowing for effective penetration into the soil.
- Some cultivators may have additional features, such as ergonomic handles or adjustable tine spacing for different gardening tasks.
Usage:
- Gardeners use cultivators by gripping the handle and driving the tines into the soil with a downward motion.
- They then pull or push the cultivator through the soil, loosening it and removing weeds and debris in the process.
- Cultivators are particularly useful for working in tight spaces or between rows of plants where larger gardening equipment like rototillers may not fit.
Benefits:
- Ames True Temper cultivators help improve soil structure by breaking up compacted soil and allowing air and water to penetrate more easily.
- They facilitate weed removal, reducing competition for nutrients and space with desired plants.
- Cultivators are versatile tools suitable for both small-scale gardening and larger landscaping projects.
Maintenance:
- To keep cultivators in good working condition, it's essential to clean them after each use to prevent soil and debris buildup on the tines.
- Regularly inspect the tool for any signs of damage or wear, and replace or repair parts as needed.
- Proper storage in a dry area can extend the lifespan of your cultivator.

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you have to sharpen this hoe |
Answer: | This tool is very well made and is not required to sharpen at all, it looks like i'm their sales rep :), though, just because this tool is really made well. |
Question: | How wide is the blade at the "top |
Answer: | 1 inch to 1 1/2 |
Question: | I need to dead weeds growing between bricks on the ground on my patio. Do you think this will work? Not a gardener. Also, need a long handle |
Answer: | Maybe it's not too late to answer your question. A triangular headed hoe is not the proper tool for weeding between bricks. I suggest you try a vinegar formula spray. Go online and research how to make your own natural vinegar weed killer and try that instead. Otherwise, I suggest a tool called a Cape Cod weeder. It is a hand tool and works well for removing weeds from tight spaces. I use my Cape Cod weeder when I'm not using a vinegar spray. |
