Question:	Are day old chicks able to drink from this
Answer:	I believe that this is recommended for a metal water container. Although it only heats the water enough to keep it from freezing, the base does get quite warm. It might melt a plastic waterer. I was really happy with the quality, and it held up well during last winter, even when rain and snow blew on it.
Question:	Is the cord wrapped with coil
Answer:	I tried using this with my chickens. As far as functioning as a feeder, it’s fine. The problem is that chickens like to try to roost on to of it, and since it’s not super hard plastic, the feed is jostled out when the chicken lands on it. My feeder was empty every 2-3 days, though it had been full. Lots of wasted feed. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you put something above it to prevent chickens from roosting on top.
Question:	Can this device be left outside
Answer:	Easily. I hate this product because the lid doesn't fit. Squirrels can break into it. Choose death rather than this item.
Question:	Anybody use it with quail
Answer:	Yes, if there is a big rack it is a problem. A buck with a small rack can turn his head and of course does are no problem. There are different sizes available.

Answer:	If you have trained your quail to use horizontal nipple waterers than you should be able to use this with them as the height is adjustable. The nipples don’t require a lot of force to get them to work. I used them with baby chicks and had no issues.

Answer:	I can't guarantee anything, all I can say is I've had mine inside the chicken coop for 2 winters already. I have pine shaving on the entire floor, but 3-4 inches away from the 2 bricks that I set the base up on. The base does not put off heat that I can feel.
Question:	Can the metal be bent to fit into a smaller opening
Answer:	The published spec is 125 watts which calculates to 1.04 amps. Amps X Volts = Watts.

Answer:	I use mine with a 5 gallon galvanized poultry waterer. I sit the heater on some bricks to raise it. I live in Ohio and we have had 4 degree weather this year and the water has not freezed yet.

Answer:	it does for me. I use it for my chickens. I live outside of Baltimore, and the water doesn't freeze overnight at all.

Question:	Would this be sufficient enough to heat the inside of my car in the winter months
Answer:	If you are asking about winter storage for your car to keep it from getting musty, that might work. Sort of like heat sticks for gun safes and pianos for the dampness. If your asking about living in your car, it wouldn't be warm enough for me.
Question:	House for stray cats...does this heater need to be clear of all bedding? is there a chance of fire
Answer:	I have mine in a cat house with towels and a cat bed around it. The towels touch it. It's uncomfortably hot to touch on high, but doesn't burn my hand so I felt it was safe. I've not had any issues with it so far.
Question:	Do you have to worry about this being to close to the chickens? Do you have to mount it where they cant get to
Answer:	The answer to both questions is No according to the instructions. I did place mine on a wall so the chickens don't poop on it. It sits just above their heads while roosting. It also heats objects. Also it will only heat to about 45 degrees which is the highest temp you want for chickens. If the chickens get too hot they move away from it. The panel is not hot but warm to the touch. I find it to be very safe easy to install. Haven't had -30 degree weather yet. It has been in the 20's here at night and I really do love the product. Safe for everyone.
Question:	When will the built in thermastate turn on and shut off
Answer:	I couldn’t find this information either so I emailed the company and asked. This is their reply “Thank you for your inquiry. The internal thermostat does not automatically shut the unit off or on; it only regulates the temperature of the unit to maintain 140F. The unit will ONLY shut off if it overheats to above 180F; this product must be manually turned on and off.”

Answer:	I am currently running a 100’ construction grade cord from the house to the hen enclosure. I brought it in at the highest point and then ran the plate cord up to the female end of the cord from the house. I am also putting a kit together, 3 solar panels and a car battery that I ordered at northeast tools. It’s easy to install- just a few plugs. That’s going to provide sufficient wattage for it. Overall I have used this style for many years and it holds up well. Ironically, my hens prefer cold water.....
