a. Please remove the nib already installed in the quil pen by gently pulling it out.



b. Dip a soft toothbrush in water to moisten it. Squeeze a little bit of toothpaste/dish detergent onto the brush.



c. Scrub the brush on nib for about 30 seconds. Once finished scrubbing, drop the nib in water for a few seconds to get the toothpaste/dish detergent off.



d. Fish the nib out of the water and wipe it dry with cloth or paper towel.

Answer:	I don’t see why these brushes wouldn’t work for Suminagahsi. They’re surprisingly decent brushes for the price, a really great array of sizes, have nice tips to them and hold a fair amount of liquid. Haven’t had any hairs drop into my paintings. I’ve done the marbling technique but that was before I bought these particular brushes. Are you using Suminagshai inks? When using those inks I just used basic watercolor brushes and they achieved the patterns I was looking for. So there’s no reason these shouldn’t work for you. Good luck.

Question:	Can I use a fountain pen refillable adapter be used in the pens? There is iridescent ink for calligraphy I want to use
Answer:	Whenever something goes wrong with the camera we usually just have to hold one of the buttons for an extended. Of time, like the power button or one of the other buttons and then the camera will reset itself. That usually works for us if that doesn't work I'm checking the mail. I would call Amazon if you have a warranty on it if you don't have a warranty on it you might be in trouble. personally I put a three year warranty on everything even if it is just a cheap children's toy because then I know if anything happens to it I'm covered in Amazon will automatically replace it free of charge if anything happens.
Question:	Is there anywhere that I can find red cartridges for this
Answer:	No. Not a carrying case. But it does come with a thing to tie it to your wrist.

Inserting the ink cartridge

Step 1: To insert your ink cartridge, gently unscrew the black nib of the calligraphy pen and put the cartridge (smaller opening end first) into the opening.

Step 2: Hold the inserted ink cartridge against a strong surface, such as a table top, and press down firmly on the pen to force the cartridge to click into place. You will hear a click when the back of the pen nib pierces the cartridge.

Step 3: Screw the nib back onto the pen and place the calligraphy pen upright for a minute or two, prior to use. Then gently press it onto a scrap piece of paper to start the ink flow – it should only take a couple of strokes for the ink to start flowing. You’re now ready to start writing!

Using your pen

To keep the ink flowing smoothly, always hold your pen so that the nib is angled between 30° and 45° to the paper (calligraphy pens are not designed to be used in the same way as stationery pens).

Note: Medium and broad nibs are a great choice for beginners because they give you more control.

Care

· To keep your nibs in good condition, always clean and return them to the box after each session.

· Wash the nib under lukewarm water after extended use and dry carefully with a soft cloth. Do not allow ink to dry on the nib as this will stop it from flowing. Once clean and dry, replace the cap.

· Carry and store your pen upright (nib upright) to prevent leakage.
