Answer:	Not sure I understand your question --but the books are held together with a thread (thicker than regular thread but not as thick as string) which is sewn along the spine of each book. You are even able to tear out a page if you want without disrupting the binding but I wouldn't tear out more than one page at a time. Nice little books/journals.

Question:	Could someone tell me the grid size for the 5 x 7 journal? How many across and how many down
Answer:	It's almost a velvety feel. It's smooth and feels good to hold. The cover is flexible and will lay flat when needed. I'm not having any problems writing in it w/o a desk or hard surface. I suppose you could bend the cover back if you wanted, the paper is sewn in. The paper is also smooth. I haven't tested for bleeding or feathering with any particular type of pen/marker. 3
