If the inner mechanism of the bell touches the very bottom, it won’t work as well and the sound end up very muffled. It can be done, just gotta adjust it to the right angle when mounting. Any product with a usb out and midi advertised allows you to connect and use it with any major recording program (DAW software) on the market today - generally most OS (Windows, Mac, Linux) these days will work out of the box without installing drivers. It will translate trigger and pressure response into midi signals and whatever drum kit or other instrument patch you wish to hook into in your software will be recognized with it. Just be aware that with most midi controllers you will be manually programming which pads correspond to which instrument notes in software - they often don't work out of the box perfectly without a good deal of tinkering to make each pad correspond to the specific drum you want. But there are many guides online on how to do this. |

| Answer: | This is a great set. Sounds like my $1500 electronic drum set on my keyboard amp or headphones. You'll want to get really good headphones, but this is a great system to start on. I had to make a stand to anchor the foot pedals. And even then, the high hat and kicker don't fire every time. But I felt I got my money's worth. I've since upgraded to a Yamaha dtx-562. But that cost about ten times as much. Have fun! :-) |

Anyone can do this
It's pronounced "ka-HONE" (and while we're at it, you say Meinl like "MINE-ull").
You're now halfway to playing your first groove on this cajon. The rest is all about hand placement.
If you're booking coffeehouses, playing houses of worship, heading out to an open mic night or ALWAYS up for a casual jam session, it's a sure bet that lower volume percussion is going to save everyone's ears.
And cajons are the solution for laying down grooves that fit the mix of these situations.
Time to play
Sitting down on the cajon with the playing surface between your legs (the one with our logo on it), reach down and strike toward the center of it with your whole hand.
That punchy, low note thud you hear will be your bass zone. Hard to forget.
Moving your hands closer to the top corners, strike the surface in a slapping motion using only the length of your fingers for a cracking snare drum sound.
Combine the two motions any way you want to create grooves.
Anyone can do this—regardless of skill.
Baltic birch playing surface
Baltic birch is used in drum set manufacturing for its boosted levels of highs and punchy lows, along with superb projection and articulation—perfect for a wood cajon.
We chose Baltic birch for the playing surface and carefully made it thin enough to respond to soft finger rolls and brush playing while ensuring it's durable enough to endure heavy back beats and fast, choppy rhythms.
Taking the touch of this cajon a step further, the playing surface is sanded and shaped together with the resonating body to form a perfectly flush, 1-to-1 match. Each resonating body has a playing surface made just for it.
Internal snare wires
We took traditional coiled stainless steel snare wires—the same type used on snare drums—and fixed them to the inside of this cajon.
Two sets of these snare wires are positioned to rest on the back side of the playing surface, making your notes extra responsive and clear with a crisp snare effect.
These snares are a big part of what makes the Meinl Jam Cajon perfect for replicating drum set rhythms in acoustic settings.
Rear sound port
A 4" circular sound port is cut into the back side of the Baltic birch resonating body to give you more articulation, a brighter attack and punchy bass notes.
This port also allows air to escape the cajon as you play. With air and sound waves flowing effortlessly from inside the cajon, you're left with a crystal clear percussive response at all dynamic levels.
When extra amplification is needed, the sound port is the perfect spot to place a microphone.

| Answer: | Hi Kyle, The reason for this is that bass drum pedals and/or hihat stands are considered personal items for most all drummers. There are many brands/styles to choose from, and every player seems to be partial to one style over the other, or they may already have these items if they have been playing drums for some time. Roland designed the V-Drums so they would be compatible with most all kick pedals (including double pedals) and hihat stands and don't want to force the customer to use custom, proprietary pedals/stands. Also, when purchasing an acoustic drum set, most all of them do not include hardware, or even cymbals.
