Answer: This folder will work with 20 - 28# paper. Standard copy paper is 20#. If your invoice paper is thinner than that it will not work.

Answer: Yes, you can do a "tri-fold." And by changing the settings you can have a 4 inch fold. May take a bit of "playing" to get it the way you want it. CAN be done!

Answer: I have just folded brochures. I hand feed because I didn't take the time to deal with the mass feed. Works great and fast.

Answer: You can make only two folds. I think you can adjust the width of the folds.
Question: Does it handle 24 lb paper in the automatic feeder
Answer: Yes, we do use 24 lb paper in our folding machine, however, I introduce smaller batches of paper into the folding feeder when using thicker paper.
Question: Can the machine fold card stock paper
Answer: It's a pretty powerful machine; and I believe it would fold card stock with no problem. I haven't tested but that's my opinion.
Question: Does this machine fold 80# glossy paper well, I read a review and said it would not pick up 28# paper so I was hesitant to purchase
Answer: We only use the folder for standard paper, but it doesn't always grab regular paper correctly. I can imagine that glossy paper wouldn't fold very well. You probably need a higher grade folder that specifically says it folds higher weight/finish paper.

Answer: The 1711 has a bypass where it is possible to insert up to 5 sheets at a time to fold as a set. The feed tray will hold up to 150 single sheets and take the sheets one at a time. The bypass will take all 5 sheets at once so you can only insert one set at a time.

Answer: The model 1611 has manually adjusted fold tables while the 1711 is automatic where you just press a button and the fold tables adjust automatically to the fold and size of paper you need.

Question: Do the folded letters actually stay in order? We have a cheaper Martin Yale machine and the letters just sort of spew out of the tray to the floor
Answer: No. The machine spews it out but if you place a bookend or anything similar such as a basket or tray in the right position it really isn't that messy and I usually have over 200 papers at a time. The extra expense is not aimed toward spewing it out neater.
Question: Does it fold multiple pages into one mailable piece
Answer: Yes it can but it is not an automatic process. You would have to hand-feed in the pages to get them to fold together. It will only automatically pull one sheet at a time to fold from the feed table. There is a manual bypass that you can use for this, but again you will have to hand-feed each set of pages to be folded in.
Question: Can it z-fold an already half folded sheet
Answer: Once you fold paper and then try to refold it through a folding machine, it's entirely an experimental task. Unless you purchase this folding machine and actually experiment with it, there is nobody who would be able to answer this question unless they did it themselves.

Question: Can it do half-folds for paper that is not full-sized? My pages are 7" tall by 8-1/2" wide. I want to fold to 3-1/2" x
Answer: I don't remember if it can or not. I can't remember why now, but I returned mine shortly after I received it. It just didn't seem to work very well and wasn't worth the money. When I worked in an office we had a larger folder than this by same company and it worked great. We put lots of paper through it also. I would invest more and get something that actually works.

Answer: the P6400 is a hand fed machine. There are no guides available. The next step up is the P7200 which has paper guides and automatic feed.
Question: Will it fold cardstock 8.5" x 5.5" in half
Answer: No, unfortunately it can't handle card stock. The thickest stock I have used on it successfully is a 32# glossy stock.
Question: Will this fold church bulletins in half
Answer: I'm pretty sure it's non-denominational so it shouldn't have any issues. If your paper is 8.5"X11" it will fold it. Either as a trifold or fold it in half. It's manual feed so each piece of 8.5" x 11" paper would need to be fed.

Answer: we use this almost exclusively for 11X17 C fold & Double Parallel fold. It is great machine. There are four speed settings. The spec for the fastest speed is 10,000 per hour. We run 1,000 pieces per week on the slowest speed so we can keep up with it. Takes about 5 minutes to perform our weekly run again on the slowest speed setting. Our normal paper is 11X17 38 pound Cougar matt with a perforated section. I just ran 200, 100 pound gloss coated c fold pieces through yesterday. Worked perfectly.

Question: Why does the description say the brown 1217A model does 12x18 and the pre-1217A model does 11x17 is the brown model the newer model
Answer: There is only one 1217A. Not sure where the Brown is from and the pre-1217A is from the Martin Yale Premier brand some dealers use. The common setting which are on the 1217A folding chart are for 8 1/2x11, 8 1/2x14, 11x17, A4 and A3 paper. The minimum size paper which can be folded is 4"x4" while the maximum size is 12"x18". But there are only icons for the common paper and common folds. All other folds and paper sizes are custom and would have to be manually calculated.
Question: Will this tri-fold a standard #10 envelope which is 4-1/8" x 9-1/2"? These dimensions are within the 4" x 18" range and we would like to be certain
Answer: The minimum size paper the 1217A can handle is 4"x4". So the #10 envelope can be folded by the 1217A if properly loaded.
