Answer:	Yes, you can! I use one of these Keylion holders for my company "key" cards. I like that it's strong enough that it won't bend the card but not too thick for the scanner to read.

Answer:	I never had that issue with mine. They open just like a ziplock baggie. I keep a stash of these for my employees to put their security badges in to protect them and make them easier to attach to a lanyard, badge clip or badge reel. Possibly that your are defective and were sealed incorrectly? Excessive use will wear these things out pretty quick but I have to say that I've noticed I'm giving them out less than I use to, so I would have to say that they are pretty good quality.
