Answer:	My mat had white film on it. I only removed one side and left the other on. That side I put face down on the carpet, hence mine doesn't slide around. I purchased the larger one for my husband, after he saw how mine didn't crack, but, he wouldn't listen to me about the film on one side. It slips a bit, but not too much. Hope this helps.

Answer:	I have the mat on a medium deep carpet and it works well. However the mat does move and I have to adjust it occasionally. I've yet to find a mat that doesn't move. This mat is very good quality. No ridges or cracks.

The description says it's for low and medium carpets, so I thought it would be stable. I know these mats will shift a little but as often and as much as mine does seems to be way too much. The larger polycarbonate mats are rolled, but as polycarbonate is rigid material it will, when unrolled return to its flat state. Polycarbonate is rigid, stiff and strong and office desk chair casters will not sink into the plastic mat.
