Answer:	The depth of the machine is 16-1/4". The power cord plug is tucked under, not I the very back, but the paper tray (and finished copy guide) stick out 5-1/4" in the front. Without the paper tray or output guide, the printer is 11" deep.

Answer:	You need to use the metal shields that came with the preamp. Run a simple wire from the base of the leftmost shield to the ground plug on the front of the preamp. This should get rid of the noise.
Question:	Will this printer work on Heavyweight paper 110lb/300gsm cardstock
Answer:	The U ground connector can not be used from the turntable. You have to cut it off, solder the end of the ground wire from the turntable and put it in the push connector. You can rig up something to keep the original ground connector. I soldered a wire to the U connector and put the other end in the push connector on the preamp. No idea why they designed it that way.

Answer:	No, this printer cannot handle 110lb card stock nor transparency sheets.

Answer:	The replacement toner is on Amazon so I have no idea why somebody said its hard to find. The printer prints well and for $199 definitely a better option than any ink jet printer. My 2 gripes are that it doesn't print double sided unless you hand feed each sheet manually which makes it a pain. The 2nd issue is it doesn't have a scanner. I have an old Canon laser that printed double sided and had a scanner. The Canon is 10 years old. I would expect new printers to at least have some features and not be bare bones.

Question:	I am looking into a printer/scanner to digitalize my family photos. How is the scanning quality for photos
Answer:	It's excellent. I've used an Epson scanner be I bought in 2001 to scan most of my photos (16 years!) and compared it to the XP-640 and find it to be just as good (tested at 1200 DPI) but faster so I'm now using it. Careful, though, an 8 1/2x 11 photo at 1200DPI will create a 12 Meg file which can be hard to handle unless you have a fast computer. I only use 1200 DPI for scanning multiple small photos all at the same time and then separating them. 800 DPI is plenty for 5x7's and 440 for 8x10's. You might try different settings of "sharpen" in the "Advanced" tab of the settings window to see which you like. I prefer a little "softer" look most of the time.
Question:	How good is the cd printing with this printer? Is it professional? Does anybody have high quality photos of a quality cd or dvd cover they printed
Answer:	It was very hard to get going; or I'm ignorant. I have re-written how to print on disc instructions, ( 1 page WORD docx), and now all is well. I have printed 10 discs so far and only had 1 problem print. I will gladly send you my simplified instruction sheet if you like. Amazon sells an aerosol spray to protect the water based ink; it gives final product a nice look. I'm going to buy another printer for backup. You DO use a substantial amount of ink. Amazon sells the printable CD's and DVD's. I bought it as a dedicated CD printer so I cant comment on other functions.

Answer:	You can print 4x6 to 13x19 and everything in between. It's a great photo printer and with the cost of ink it should only be used for photo's. I have a Canon all in one printer that cost under $100.00 and use it for day to day printing and scanning. If there is something special about those documents like some special paper then, of course, use the Pro 100.

Answer:	Load paper.(1) Open the paper support, and pull it out.(2) Open the front cover gently. Important If the disc tray guide (A) is open, close it. (3) Pull out the paper output tray. (4) Slide the paper guides (B) to open them, and load the paper in the center of the rear tray WITH THE PRINT SIDE FACING YOU.(5) Slide the paper guides (B) to align them with both sides of the paper stack.Do not slide the paper guides too hard. The paper may not be fed properly. Important Always load paper in the portrait orientation (C). Loading paper in the landscape orientation (D) can cause paper jams.NOTE: This printer is a quality printer for excellent copies. If you are looking for a production type printer where you can do many copies, it would be best that you go to a copy store and have them do it. If you are seeking a few select prints then this would be for you. I believe that about 25 copies is all that can be loaded at a time.

Question:	Does the PIXMA i8720 handle card stock well? I run a very small greetings card business, and my current printer murders card stock
Answer:	The heaviest we've printed is 140 lb paper by Strathmore. We also print greeting and post cards; aside of drymounting photo paper to card stock (whose photo quality absolutely can't be beat), the best paper we've found for iP8720 direct printing is Canson Stamping Cards (beats Strathmore's inket offerings hands-down; we found it on Dick Blick's site). I don't know if Canson publishes this specific product's weight, but it's probably around ~110 lbs.
Question:	does it scan and copy
Answer:	The previous answer ("Copies, but doesn't scan") is WRONG. I've checked the printer and the users manual, and the iP8720 does NOT have scan capability. It is a printer only--not a fax, not a scanner, not a copier. If you need to scan and copy, then you need a different machine. The main value of the iP8720 is for large-format (up to about 13" by 19") printing. If you don't need that capability, then you'd be much better off with a standard-format all-in-one.

Answer:	You can do this, but it is unusual because the black runs out very quickly. There are two blacks, and it seems to use the xl sized one more, and once that is low no matter what you get spotty printing. I think the other black is only mixed in with the color printing.
