Hi, Terri! It is the craziest thing - it's held in place by static cling! There is no adhesive on it at all! So the answer is "yes"! I placed mine in 2 classrooms at a medical based technical school & using them daily, they only lasted about a month. The 1 "lost" its static cling abilities and it was stretched out from writing & erasing on it numerous times. If u are not going to use it A LOT, this product might be OK. it IS simple to put up & take down or reposition if it is crooked. You do want to be careful not to write close to the edges & careful when you erase so that you don't pull ink onto the wall resulting in a need for touch up paint of the wall. Hope this helps!
