To use this tester the power supply is disconnected from the computer components (Mother board, Hard drive, video card, floppy drive, DVD burner, etc.) and the PSU cables connected to the tester instead. When the PSU is switched on, the tester will read the current being supplied by the PSU to the various power cables (24 pin, P4, P6, P8). As you may know, improper current can wreak havoc with electronic systems. For example: This tester told me that the current being supplied by a PSU to one of its power cables was borderline minimum and fluctuating. A close examination of the PSU revealed that a couple of capacitors were swelling and barely beginning to split and leak. Hope this helps. |
