Question:	what does the name special 20 imply
Answer:	The primary difference appears to be cosmetic, in that the cover plate has changed (for the worse, in my opinion). Rather than the fancier script it reads "Special 20" with the word "Progressive" in the middle. The screw heads that hold the reed plate in are smaller than before, and the diameter of the screws is about half of what it was. There are a couple of other little changes too, but not worth mentioning.None of these things are a big deal in terms of playability - pretty much non-issues, really. I'd still go for the earlier model (stores have tons of them around) just on looks, the older model just has a cooler appearance. Also, you could watch for sales on these (just before Christmas Amazon had a set of 5 for $106).Still, it's a good harp.

Answer:	I just purchased a C. I don't think it should matter too much unless you have a band you're playing with that has instruments in a certain key. In other words, I think you should know if you need a certain key. If you don't, you're fine.

Answer:	The key of A is the most common key for blues harmonica if that's what you are most interested in it sounds great the music you play on a C you can play on an A

Answer:	There is no easy answer to that question. The Marine Band is the classic blues harmonica. The Crossover is a wonderful harmonica with a great sound. Personally, I think that it is a better built harmonica. However, it is a tad small in size for my taste. It isn't as comfortable as other harmonicas, at least until you get used to it. The Special 20 is also a very nice harmonica - a lot more comfortable on the lips than the Marine Band. It also sounds great. So, it is a matter of personal taste. These are all great harps. That said, my favorite C harmonica is a Seidel 1847 Noble. Unfortunately, those are kind of pricey. The best C harp in the bang for the buck category is, in my humble opinion, a Seidel Blues Session - great sound, perfect feel in the hand, well made. As I said, it is strictly a matter of personal preference. The 3 Hohners you mentioned are all great.

Answer:	This question is almost impossible to answer. When one plays with other musicians, one never knows what key will come up next. The really good players can also play in different keys on the same harmonica using bending techniques, and I imagine most pros have a collection of harps in different keys (there are 12 possible). But based on the number of harmonicas sold, the most common, by far, is the key of C. That is no doubt influenced by vast numbers of beginners who buy a harp and discard it after 3 weeks.

Answer:	Yeah I know what you're talking about. Just over 40 years ago when I started playing harp the MB Hohner and Blues harp were the go to harps of the day without much else to compare to. Since that time for the past 25 years or so I found that the special 20 to be my go to harp for most of my playing . Lee Oscar is also solid but I find them better for single note draws and blowing. I'm not a techy over analytical harp player but I know what I hear and feel and I would have to agree with your air leak analogy compared to the other harps I mentioned. This is not to say the MB is a crappy harp. It requires a different approach and effort to coax the right sound out of them. I enjoy playing MB accoustically better than mic. Answer:	Those are all the same model. Different dealers will use different item numbers. 542 is the item number. P stands for Progressive and BX stands for box. Answer:	I see no country of origin on the harp, or the plastic box it is in. I do not have any of the original paperwork that came with it.

Question:	Not sure I understand the small swivel holders. What exactly are they doing? Seem to get in the way more than anything
Answer:	Yes. Easily switch back and forth, hands-free.
Question:	Is the product white, black, red, and blue... OR... white, black, red, or blue
Answer:	When did I become Hohner customer support. I criticized this holder years ago because it's put together wrong. If you look at the picture, when it's hung around your neck, it will dig into your chest. The part that goes around your neck was put on wrong. I had to take mine apart and rebuild it to make it right. I also talked to a executive at the Hohner factory and he said no one had ever mentioned this and that they had been building them wrong since the 1940s. If your 12 hole is less than 7" long it should fit.
Question:	Will this holder work to quickly switch back and forth to singing, all the while playing piano accompaniment? Or is another holder better for this
Answer:	I've been using Golden Melody harmonicas for 30 years and I play lots of pop, rock-and-roll, folk, some blues. I first started using them primarily because they last longer than the Marine Band harmonicas, and they are easier to break in. I recommend starting with a Golden Melody or Special 20, and then if you want to, try a Marine Band or Blues Harp. They are all good harmonicas. Kevin M. www.singalongwithkevinm.com
