Answer:	We seasoned ours on our stove top slowly a couple times and then when we put it on the grill and we warm it slowly also. It is awesome! To check the temp by lowering your hand slowly over it. If you get about an inch, inch and a half away it is Greta searing temp. About 500* . On your stove top increase temp every 15 min to season. Also get the Salt Block Cooking book. It is super helpful and has great ideas!
Question:	Do these come in extended cuff
Answer:	We used ours for about 3-4 times...it did start crumbling...appeared to be in "layers" much like a piece of slate...Honestly, I felt that the slab gave off too much salt to be healthy and was disappointed in the way that it was coming apart...would not recommend.

Answer:	According to the book I have, you should separate the salt block from the direct heat with some sort of ring. I actually use an upside down tart pan without the insert. The heat distributes pretty evenly and the salt block does not physically touch the heat source. So yes, you can use the griddle, but you need something to separate the salt block and the griddle.

Answer:	Yes!!! What do you want to do? Scald yourself? It gets plenty warm on 6, and perfect for animal heating with covers on 3-4. Forget the meat thermometer answer! It will get hot enough to burn you if you’re not alert and you choose to set it manually and not auto-shut-off. It happened to me, though it just hurt for a couple days without a wound. So, that’s enough! I use it to warm myself up in the evening and keep the heat at 65 degrees throughout winter to save money. Why heat the entire house? This doesn’t cost as much as electric or gas heat in the long run. And the company is AWESOME!!!! Totally customer service oriented... responsive. You can’t go wrong with this product!

Question:	Does this heating pad have auto shut off
Answer:	The one I bought in August 2019 has the option of auto shut-off or manual override... and will stay on indefinitely. I just hope it still has this function as it’s needed to keep my elderly cat warm throughout the night. I set it at either 3-4 depending on the blankets I use over it. 6 is too hot for her, even though cats and dogs have normal temps at approximately 4 degrees higher than humans... that’s why they feel so great in our laps! This is a MUST for heating pads for animal care use. Remember though, to always allow the animal a way to get away from the heat if needed - use on only half the cage (if caged) but allow burrowing ability on the non- heated side too. It’s a shame that other companies don’t offer this... as heating pads are used in many ways. A 2 hour shut off is great for preventing burns to elderly, non-aware or forgetful humans, but useless for any other need! When the pad failed, after Amazon return period, they provided a new set, shipped quickly and didn’t require a return. The pad is used at least 5 days a week for hours and has functioned perfectly ever since replacement- over a year ago. Great, responsive company... no hassle.

Answer:	The reason is for SAFTY. Some people may get skin burns by laying on top of a steady heat source like a heating pad ("slow cooking"), which can get HOTTER over time if laid upon. Their usual (Buyer Beware) claim for "safety" is an "auto-shut off" which cuts in at about 2 hours. Some folks can get COOKED from 2 hours of time laying on an electric heating pad, and the pain is SEVERE! Electric heating pads should REALLY have MUCH shorter shut-off times, especially for immobile, elder, chronically ill, etc. people. MUCH SAFER TO LAY ON A HEAT THERAPY SOURCE THAT SLOWLY GETS COOLER, like hot water bottles, and the clay thermal pads. They are as hot as they're going to get right up front, with far more SAFETY than electric pads. Physical Therapy Professionals usually limit heat treatments to 20 minutes, for good reasons, proven by decades of Professional Medical Experience. BTW, yes, I do use electric pads, but ONLY UNDER THEM...NOT ON TOP! Also, be Very Careful of electric heating pads used on your bed, if your Beloved Pet, especially the heat-loving Feline variety, likes to sleep with you.
