User questions & answers
Question: | When you connect a mic into the input line. Can you mix it with the built-in mics |
Answer: | No, but ZOOM makes (and Amazon sells) another model that will record FOUR channels --- the "same" two built-in mics PLUS two LINE/XLR jacks: the H5 (which I also own). (See here: http://amzn.to/2l8U4nC) (that's a lowercase L and N) |
Question: | How can I use the zoom h1 as a dslr mic.? If it is possible do I have to press record on the zoom h1 and and press the record button on the dslr whe |
Answer: | Just a note about recording into a dslr: the bitrate and sample rate you set on the zoom doesn't affect the bitrate and sample rate recorded onto the dslr file. Your dslr always determines the bitrate and sample rate. (IE: for most Canon's that's 44khz/16 bit). The audio quality from the zoom will be better than your on-camera mic simply because the microphone itself is higher quality, but don't expect to be recording 96khz/24 bit audio straight into your dslr's .mov files! |
Question: | can I record a piece to video with the Zoom recording my voice and then synch it to video |
Answer: | Sure thing. I use mine as a primary aiduo recorder for my Nikon D5300. I use the sound from the camera as areference track and then stnc the wave file from the Zoom to the video using Final Cut X. Works perfect with much better sound quality. |
Question: | What does this device actually record onto - some sort of a memory card or flash drive? I'm looking for something that will record at least 6 hours |
Answer: | You get roughly 12 hours on the 2GB micro SD card included, in MP3 320kbps. Quality is excellent. If you want WAV format your looking at about 2.5 hours with the stock card. Larger cards are cheap though so it's upgradable. |

User questions & answers
Question: | It states it can use a 32 gig SD card. Can it use a higher gig or just 32 gig |
Answer: | I had an older digital recorder that only used 4 gig compact flash memory cards. I tried using 8 gig, but it would stop recording when it reached 4 gig. I keep a watch on this one to make sure it does not go over the maximum it says in case it performs similarly. 32 gig is hundreds of hours of mp3 recording. |
Question: | The device is listed as running on battery for 6 hours. Can we use it while plugged with DC power adapter to potentially use for 12 hours |
Answer: | Sorry, I strictly use DC power adapter which has a very short cord. You'll always need an extension cord. You may try getting rechargeable batteries to use if you plan on alternating between DC and battery. |
Question: | Does it really work |
Answer: | Several problems. When it is connected to a comuter via USB all buttons lock, ever after it is disconnected. You have to remove the batteries to get it working a again. Contacted Marantz about this and they send a programme to upload, which initially fixed the problem, but it keeps recurring. Also in mono mode it only records on one channell, the level on the second is so low as to be unuseable, and this needs to be corrected in your laptop. |
Question: | Is there a foot pedal available for this recorder |
Answer: | Hi, Marantz Pro support here! Our PMD661MKIII does not feature the ability to connect a foot pedal. For further support on this subject, please feel free to contact us directly - [email protected] |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i connect multiple mics on this |
Answer: | No |
Question: | Can you take this on an airplane in a non-carryon bag |
Answer: | I have tried 3 different brands of AA NiMH batteries in DR60DmkII and all work, though I have the BP-6AA now because the DR60DmkII goes through them so quickly! Though accessible when on a tripod, changing the batteries required that I lift up tripod + backup recorder I mount on top on its side. The BP-6AA + DR60DmkII lasts all day with six 4th gen Eneloops. As noted, just remember to change the "Battery Type" menu item under Others > System to NiMH. |
Question: | How man lav mics does this come with? How many jacks are they? I need at least 2 jacks |
Answer: | Right now I use the Blackwed, model # BWB15TA223, it's a 8000mAh bank. Was able to get a few good hours out of it. |
Question: | how is the audio quality with the external mic?....... thanks |
Answer: | This one has pretty red colored handled in front - Seriously, after field and smoke testing the DR60D and this one, you prob won't be able to tell any difference. It's still a good unit, don't get me wrong; the DR60D is a great unit that I have used paired up with a Rode NTG-2 for a lot of great audio, but aside from a 'better' preamp (which most people won't notice in the audio quality anyway) there isn't a reason to upgrade to this if you already own a DR60D - Although I will say the colored handles do look pretty cool, but not a valid reason to upgrade from the previous unit. If you own the previous one, no need to get this. If you're in the market for one, get the newer one. Cheers! |

Product description
TASCAM's DR-60DmkII is a portable recorder designed from the ground up to be the ideal recorder for DSLR filmmakers. The design of the DR-60DmkII contains a tripod mounting screw on top and socket hole on the bottom, integrating perfectly with cameras from Canon, Nikon, Sony, and others. The camera output attenuates down to mic level before passing the signal to the camera to prevent distortion. The new version includes an improved microphone preamp for up to 64dB of gain and a smoother sound. A pair of XLR microphone inputs feed TASCAM's latest HDDA microphone preamps and provides phantom power for condenser microphones. The preamp gain and other controls are easily accessed from the front panel with physical controls instead of software menus for quick adjustment. These preamps are recorded at audiophile resolution using premium A-to-D converters, for audio quality that far outshines the camera audio. Individual headphone and line outputs allow an additional feed on-set. A second pair of inputs can be patched to wireless receivers or other sources for four-track recording. Alternatively, Dual Recording mode captures a safety track of your audio at a lower level. If an actor suddenly belts out a line, distorting the recorder, Dual Recording provides a non-distorted backup copy. There's also a limiter and low cut filter to avoid overdriving your tracks. Question: | Are the xlr inputs the kind that also allow a 1/4" plug or just xlr connection |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be used as an audio interface to my macOS for podcast live streaming |
Answer: | Podcast is not a live medium but a record, edit and upload kind of medium. But it can be used as an audio interface if you do live streaming. |
Question: | Does this output a separate audio file for each track? If not, then what device can do such |
Answer: | It can record a mono file per track. It can also create a polyphonic file with all the tracks. Depends on your personal workflow. |
Question: | When using it as an interface, does the 32 bit dual A/D converter mode work? Can you record in that mode straight to a computer |
Answer: | The dual converters on the F6 operate when using the device as an audio interface, but the maximum bit depth when used as an audio interface is 24 Bit Linear. |
Question: | What's the minimum sd card class/write speed the f6 requires for recording 32-bit fp |
Answer: | Class 4 for most recordings is fine. If you are recording 10 tracks with 32 bit float I would suggest Class 10. Most Micro an recent SD cards above 32 GB are class 10 anyway so it should not be a problem. |
