Answer:	Depending upon the size of the room and the crowd that you’re addressing, yes, you should be able use this as it is a stand alone product. The box built around the microphone is a rechargeable speaker with volume and echo control. It’s not terribly loud, I mean, it’s when a three year old is running around with it, it’s super annoying and you can hear it from everywhere... but to address a very large crowd, like at a wedding or something in a very large hall, you may want to rethink this. Question:	do you have to download an app
Answer:	I just got it and only sound from one speaker. If there is supposed to be only one speaker making sound there is a design flaw because it is not stereo. when playing some tracks from youtube, songs that play to left or right speaker are only playing have the audio through the mic. When switching back to phone audio, then all of the song is there.
