Answer:	It does not need a battery, but you do need to connect it to an amplifier that has a mic XLR connection. Mostly this would be a separate pre-amp which is then connected to a larger console or amplifier system, though some systems combines both.
Question:	How long is the cable that I can get with this mic
Answer:	If the official Shure part number SM58-CN is selected, the "CN" means a 25' XLR microphone cable will be included. Other variants include SM58S which is microphone with an on/off switch, SM58-LC which is microphone only with no cable.
Question:	What amplifier or mixer [ $20- $50 ] should i buy which is compatible with sm58 ? need suggestion
Answer:	There are too many questions to be answered here. Are your speakers powered or non-active? How many mics are you running? Any other systems involved, like instruments, computers, ipods etc? Are you looking for built in EFX? Although my first amp was a Pyle 3000W for $100 and I used a cheap Behringer 4 bus mixer, I have moved on from that purchase. Best advise I can give someone, is to buy a book or video on live sound and mixing, it will save you time, heartaches and maybe even money.

Answer:	I'd like to correct a statement that's been made about the SM-58, which is the most popular, universal "performer's mic," found in every band that can afford it and serving as the White House microphone for heads of state. It's a "dynamic" rather than a "condenser mic," which means it's durable, tough, long-lasting, made to take abuse. But it's not the preferred microphone in the recording studio, which is where the more sensitive, nuanced condenser microphone shines (but don't toss it in a bag and "take it on the road"). Condenser mics require more power than dynamic mics, and that power is called "phantom power," which is found in most mixing boards and in many amps--and in this handy adapter. But you do NOT require Phantom Power for an XLR connection: you require it for a CONDENSER MIC. And since the popular SM58 is a DYNAMIC MIC, the Phantom Power is wasted, a needless add-on. If you want to convert your XLR to USB (or to a phone plug), there are many adapters and cables for $10 that will do the trick You certainly don't need to invest a hundred in the pictured adapter--that's sheer "overkill. It's a bit of a mystery why sellers are showing the SM58 with a Phantom-Powered Adapter for condenser mics. You may be wasting $100 on one or the other of these incompatible devices.

Answer:	The storage area is approx 10" x 10" x 7". So the receiver will not fit there. However, you could remove the velcro dividers and flip the foam mic holder sideways and then it would fit across the width.

Answer:	Yes, the "S" indicates a model with a switch. In practice, I almost never use the switch. I mute the mic at the sound board. I also find sometimes the switch can inadvertently be switched off. I really like the mic, but wouldn't buy one with a switch the next time.

Answer:	Mine also came with no shaft. Only the base was included in the package. I've contacted the seller as both the pictures of the product and the product description indicate that the full stand, not just the base, is included in the order.

Answer:	The one that I received from Amazon is not like in the photo. Mine has a small round knob on the extension. The knob at the elbow looks to be like the photo. I don't have any complaints about it.

Answer:	The lettering "On-Stage Stands" is on both knobs (one knob is at the elboe and the other is at the extending shaft). The lettering color on theknobs is light grey (not pure white). There is also a label with pure-white lettering affixed to the shaft. This label also has a red underline and "Made in China" in red lettering. BTW - I am not the seller; just a buyer. I'm just responding to Amazon's question.
