Denon DJ DS1 | Pocket-Sized Digital Vinyl Audio Interface with full Serato DJ Pro & Serato DVS download (2-channel/24-bit/96kHz)

Based on 115 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Throw your assumptions out the window—the Denon DJ DS1 is a breakthrough interface for users of Serato NoiseMap™—the system used to control a Serato-based digital music library when you’re using a turntable or CD player.

The DS1 is plug-and-play with Serato DJ Pro, extending Denon DJ’s famous audio quality and reliability to club DJs and turntablists who prefer the feel of vinyl, but still want the flexibility that a digital music library provides.

At the heart of the DS1 is a bi-directional audio interface with two sets of RCA stereo inputs for turntables or professional CD players. As DJs manipulate the vinyl or CD NoiseMap signal, Serato DJ software mirrors the control signal—controlling digital tracks on-screen in real-time for beatmatching, cueing, scratching, and track juggling.

Playback audio is distributed by the DS1 to a mixer or loudspeaker system in studio-grade 24-bit quality via two sets of RCA stereo outputs. In other words, connect anything you need and the DS1 will always send out a great signal—clean, clear and true to the music.

Denon DJ’s DS1 is smaller than most smartphones, making it an ideal companion for the travelling DJ. The rugged, all-metal construction easily survives constant transport, setup and breakdown. A single USB cable handles power and audio duties, greatly simplifying operation. Inputs are phono/CD selectable with a grounding post for turntable use. It’s all there. You’re covered.

With its precise, dependable tracking and remarkably clear audio, the DS1 ushers in a new wave of performance for the hands-on DJ. Whether you’re using NoiseMap vinyl or optical media, the DS1 goes hard every night to eliminate the gap between that classic analog feel you’re after and the precise digital capability you demand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the DS1 come with a full version of Serato DJ Pro and Serato DVS expansion pack?

The DS1 is Serato DJ and DVS Enabled, meaning that when connected it will automatically unlock and work as a DVS device for Serato DJ, without the need to purchase additional licenses. Serato DJ can be download directly from the Serato website and will unlock with the DS1 connected to the computer.

Please note:In order to use different hardware with Serato DJ, you may need to purchase additional licenses from Serato.

Do you require a mixer for the DS1?

Yes. You will need a mixer (any brand) with 2+ channels.

The blue LED on my unit is blinking, why?

If the LED is blinking, the unit is connected but it cannot recognize the drivers (Windows). Reinstall the drivers.

If the LED is on, the unit is working and drivers are recognized as normal.

In Serato DJ, what is the difference between ABS, REL and INT?

ABS stands for """"absolute"""" where the vinyl mimics real vinyl. Dropping the needle at the start of a record will cue the beginning of the track. Lift the needle and move it half way down the vinyl and you will go to mid-way through the track, just like real vinyl.

REL stands for """"relative"""" where the position you drop the needle on the record will cue to the relative position you are at in the track. Basically you can drop the needle anywhere and it will start the track from the beginning, lift the needle and drop it half way down the vinyl and it will play from the same place in the song you lifted it from.

INT stands for """"internal"""" where all track control is performed by keyboard shortcuts or midi input. The control vinyl do nothing.

When I connect my vinyl turntables to my DS1, I hear a consistent hum. How do I fix this?

It is very important that when you connect your turntables to your DS1, your connected correctly from your DJ mixer. Follow the following steps to correctly setup vinyl turntables with the DS1 and Serato.

  1. Connect your vinyl turntables LEFTand RIGHT RCA's to the LEFTand RIGHT INPUTSon your DS1.
  2. From your DS1, set your PHONO|CDswitch to PHONO.
  3. Ground your turntables by either using your DJ mixers GNDor DS1's GND.
  4. From your DJ mixer, connect the LEFTand RIGHT LINE INPUTSto your DS1's LEFTand RIGHT OUTPUTS. **Do not connect from your DJ mixers PHONO INPUTS.
  5. That's it!

Can I record in Serato DJ with the DS1?

No not correctly. There is no Aux Input featured inside the interface and the audio is mixed externally in a DJ mixer, not in the Serato DJ software. You will have to connect a secondary output from your DJ mixer to a Line Input on your computer or use a recording device and software (DAW). This is a limitation to the interface and DJ software as the audio is mixed outside of both.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this unit run on phantom power or does it need an ac adapter
Answer: Hi, Denon Pro support here! Thanks for your question. Our DN-200BR can be powered via the supplied power adapter. I hope this helps and If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us directly - [email protected] Thanks, Krishan
Question: Is bluetooth pairing password protected or otherwise secure from anyone random connecting
Answer: Hi, Denon Pro support here! Pairing via Bluetooth does not feature any password protection however, the 'pair' button on the DN-200BR must be pushed in order for this product to enter a pairing mode; this will help prevent any unauthorised pairing.
Question: Can i run regular speaker wire into it - 12 or 14 awg? if so, how
Answer: You could use regular speaker wire but would have to solder a 1/4” jack on one end of your wires and I don’t believe there is much power output from the 2 output channels of the DN-200BR- the intended use is to receive the Bluetooth signal and route the left and right channels to an amplifier or powered speakers. The low output means you don’t need heavy (12 or14 awg) wire. I used 2 standard 16awg shielded instrument cables with 1/4” jacks to a pair of Yamaha powered studio monitor speakers(75 watts per channel) and found the clarity of the sound is amazing. I was confused with the level control on the DN-200BR at first because it is actually just for reducing the output signal strength because the actual volume level control is with your Bluetooth device and the output levels of the many different devices varies a lot.
Question: Will my denon dra f109 be able to read the signal? currently is says digital signal unlock
Answer: There are two models of the Denon DRA F109. One has analog inputs and one doesn't. If the one you have has the analog inputs - yes it will work. You will need to get correct cables - think it's 1/4" plug to rca but please double-check actual requirements.

User questions & answers

Question: Is the headphone jack on this for monitoring your inputs, or does your PC audio come through it aswell
Answer: Hi, You can monitor your inputs and listen to playback from your computer simultaneously, which allows you to create overdubs with next to zero latency. You can either choose to monitor the inputs using the Direct Monitor switch, or you can use the Input Monitor feature in your DAW. If using the Direct Monitor feature the input signal will be passed directly to the line and headphone outputs, whereas if you use the Input Monitor feature in your DAW, you will be hearing the audio you're recording back from your DAW. In either case, you can still hear any other audio playing back from your DAW at the same time as recording. Best regards, Laurence Clarke // Focusrite Technical Support
Question: What type of usb cable does this come with? is it a type-c to type-c or a type-c to type-a
Answer: Hi, This comes with a type-c to type-a cable. If you have type-c ports, you will need to purchase a type-c to type-c USB cable separately. Best regards, Laurence Clarke // Focusrite Technical Support
Question: Does the XLR input only record audio to the left side
Answer: Hi, When recording a single microphone, you should ensure that you create a mono audio track in your DAW instead of a stereo audio track. When you record onto a mono audio track, the output from that track will be heard on both sides of your headphones or speakers (ensuring the output is set to stereo), however, if you record onto a stereo track, the audio will just be recorded onto the left side of a stereo file and you will ony hear it on the left of your headphones/speakers. This is explained in more detail here: https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/206849779?flash_digest=62885ef974b4eb116f3b3ea2c9b9c38ddb871473 Best regards, Laurence Clarke // Focusrite Technical Support

SC5000 Prime FAQ

What options do I have to connect external drives and other storage?

The SC5000 Prime features 3 USB ports (1 on the front, 2 on the back) and 1 SD card slot. If multiple SC5000 units are connected together, all connected drives will be available to each unit.

What types of media should I use?

We recommend using brand name USB sticks and SD cards. SD cards must be Class 6 (c6) or faster. USB sticks should have similar performance (at least 20MB/s read / 6 MB/s write speed). The faster the media, the faster tracks can load. Slower drives may result in lags when navigating through the collection and longer load times.

Which drive formats are compatible with the SC5000?

The SC5000 supports media formatted in FAT32 and exFAT with an MBR (Master Boot Record) style partition structure.

What is the maximum sized hard drive that the SC5000 can support?

The hard drive size is limited, but it's based on the limitations of the formatting style. The two formats we support are FAT32 (Windows will not create partitions larger than 32GB) and exFAT (with a limit of 8 PETAbytes).

Other rules, like file size limit also apply, but those are also not limited by the OS. Users will run into those limitations on their computer instead of the SC5000. Larger song collections will influence things like search times, so we recommend that you only add songs to a drive that you need for the show/night/tour.

What is the maximum file size and database size that the SC5000 can support?

File Size:

The SC5000 will play files up to 250Mb remotely. Files over 250Mb must be played from the player that contains the media. Files under 250Mb will continue to play if the drive is accidentally ejected.

Database Size:

We recommend limiting the total track count to under 10,000 songs on a media source. Larger track counts may affect load/search/sort times. We recommend that you only add songs to a drive that you need for the show/night/tour.

If a combined database size in the Engine Library folder is larger than 2.4 Gb, the database will only be loadable by the local player. Multiple factors determine the size of the database files including, how many files are in the database, if these files are pre-analyzed, how long the files are and if the files contain album art.

Which file formats are compatible with the SC5000?

The SC5000 and the accompanying Engine Prime software support the following audio formats:

  • MP3 32 kbit/s - 320 kbit/s + VBR
  • M4A / AAC
  • MP4
  • OGG Vorbis
  • WAV 16-32 bit, 44.1k - 192k
  • AIFF 16-32 bit, 44.1k - 192k
  • FLAC
  • ALAC

Can I link the SC5000 with a second unit?

Yes! You can link up to four SC5000 units together. Networked units can share songs and sync track info between each other.

Is this compatible with Engine 1.5?

The Prime series will come with a brand new and improved version of Engine called Engine Prime. While this is not compatible with the original version of Engine and vice versa, it adds tons of new features including personalized user profiles that hold on to preferences like screen brightness, sync settings, pictures or logos for the center display, and much more.

If you use an MCX8000, you will want to hang on to your Engine 1.5 for use with the controller.

Do I need to use Engine with the SC5000?

Nope! If your tracks haven't yet been analyzed by Engine, the SC5000 will automatically analyze them for you once the drive is connected, making it the only media player in the world that can do this. This includes BPM, beat grid, and even key.

What does the Protection Circuit do?

This circuit protects your SC5000 in the event of a power loss. If disconnected, the protection circuit will continue to play and all drives will be safely unmounted to prevent corruption.

What is a user profile?

A user profile is part of your Engine database and saves your preferred settings including screen brightness, colors, sync settings, the logo for the platter display and more. Each time a thumb drive storing your user profile is connected to any SC5000, you will be prompted to load the profile which will automatically jump to your preferred settings. This means that any SC5000 can quickly become your own with just a few clicks.

Does the SC5000 have an auto-switching power supply?

Yes, the SC5000, X1800 and VL12 Prime all have auto-switching power supplies. This means that the player will accept 100-240VAC at 50/60hz.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it have an input so I can use it with a lapel mic
Answer: I'm 6' and 230. Truthfully, I would buy the larger version they make for office use. The seat is a bit snug in the hip area. Kind of like a Racaro racing seat, which is the point. I don't race, I type, so....I plan to do that and give this one to my partner, who is 5' 7" and 150. Perfect for her. That said, this chair has changed my life, physically. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Best desk chair I have tried.
Question: Will it record the presentation threw the RCA jack
Answer: Yes is pretty tall chair and you can adjust the seat
Question: Does portable unit need to be plugged in for operation or is there a battery pack so it can be used in remote locations
Answer: Dear Customer, Please kindly note that only when the shiled cable be plug in the microphone, it could collect the voice from you by positioning it near your mouth with its Flexible adjustable head microphone.
Question: How well does it sound for outside weddings? (if yove tried it
Answer: Dear Customer, the warranty period of this microphone is 1 year, if there is any problem when using it, please feel free to contact our after-sales through the order page directly.

User questions & answers

Question: FX has long echo effect. Does it provide good echo effect as that of other mixers? Is echo effect is also in Behringer 802 mixer
Answer: This is the correct cable to use when going stereo to mono. Stereo(2 black rings on actual 3.5mm input prong) to mono(one black ring on 1/4" input prong). BUT 'thru your i-phone'? IDK, thats a little vague. I use this cable with a Guitar/I-Rig/I-Pad/AMP. Guitar 1/4" patch cable out from I-Rig to Guitar. This cable's 3.5mm stereo end from I-Rig to AMPLIFIER 1/4" input. I-Rig into I-Pad headphone jack.
Question: Is this effects mixer good for Karaoke
Answer: There are no resistors in this wire. The stereo signals are simply shorted together. This cable's proper use is 1/4" mono output to a 3.5mm stereo input.
Question: I keep seeing that a mixer doesn’t record voices?? how can i use this for a podcast? whatelse do i need
Answer: I've been using it to connect ipad/iphone/portable DVD player to a PA system with no problems at all.
Question: Can you apply the digital effects to just certain inputs like 2 mics, but leave the music alone? I'm looking to upgrade from the 802 without FX
Answer: It's designed to split in 2 outputs from 1 input and not 3 outputs

Behringer Xenyx 502 Premium 5-Input 2-Bus Mixer with XENYX Mic Preamp and British EQ

Behringer

Product description

BEHRINGER 5 IN MIXING BOARD W EQ. Mains voltage - 120 V~, 60 Hz

  • Premium ultra-low noise, high headroom analog mixer
  • State-of-the-art, phantom powered XENYX Mic Preamp comparable to stand-alone boutique preamps
  • Neo-classic "British" 2-band EQ for warm and musical sound
  • Main mix, stereo CD/tape plus separate headphone outputs
  • CD/tape inputs assignable to headphone output or main mix outputs. Power consumption 13 W

User questions & answers

Question: I didn't really understand the inputs on this mixer. So I have 3 electric guitars, and an electronic drum kit. Can all of these, with mic,be connected
Answer: This mixer does not have sufficient mono channels for your application. Channels 2-3 and 4-5 are stereo inputs (meaning they are contolled with the same fader). Some of the larger Xenyx mixers will get you the inputs you need.... something with at least 5 distinct faders to control each instrument's mix individually.Hope this helps. :-)
Question: Does this mixer support 48V Phantom Power
Answer: Most microphones do not require 48 volts of phantom power. Many condenser microphones only require somewhere between 4 and 12 volts. You should check your mic. It looks like this is a 15 volt feed.
Question: Can this mixer connect to a PC via a soundcard
Answer: Yes, to an analog soundcard. All you need is a 1/8" stereo to dual-RCA cord. Mixer has both input and output RCA capability, so you could feed the output of the mixer to the line/mic of the soundcard or feed the output of the soundcard (line out/speaker out) to the input of the mixer. There is also a headphone jack on the mixer so that could also be patched back to the soundcard's line in/mic. For me, I am usually running the PC speaker out to the mixer RCA input -- the volume is controlled by the Main, and then I can either use headphones from the mixer or run the 1/4" output into my guitar amp. Hope this helps.
Question: What does the 2 track input do
Answer: The 2 track input allows you to connect an external music source to the xenxyx mixer and then into an amplifier with speakers or headphones using the outputs located near the top. The external music source can be anything that has the red and white RCA outputs such as a cassette/CD player or VCR/disc player (the red and white input/output for the 2 track are called RCA connectors). This is so you can plug in your CD player and also a microphone and an instrument that has a 1/4" output such as a guitar or electric piano and have it all mixed together. Just below the 2 track input are a couple of buttons that allow you to choose whichever output you want, either headphones or amplified speakers (main out). The 2 track outputs on the mixer will allow you to send the vocals and/or instrument mix to a recording device that has the red and white RCA inputs. I hope this helps.
