So, say you measure out a mile and you run that in 10 minutes. If you measure your running stride (say for example 8 strides in 20 feet running at your normal pace) that would be 30 inches. With 15,360 inches in a mile you would have 512 "steps" or "paces." You also will have to correct for walking, shorter strides, and step counters treat all steps the same even if you move 10 inches, shorter than a walking stride. |

| Answer: | I think a previous commenter may be on to something. I've worn this model for decades, and generally each watch has lasted at least half a dozen years. I've worn them swimming in the pool and in the ocean, and diving down to 20 m. Once or twice before, a watch I'd had for many years got some water inside after a prolonged period in the water. My latest F91-W got water inside and portions of the display failed the first time I had it submerged (an hour and a half in a hot tub, underwater more about half the time). So maybe Casio changed something about the materials or manufacturing process that makes it more susceptible to water. Still, I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem for exposure like kayaking, pouring rain, taking a swim, etc. In any case it's an incredible watch -- super light, very long battery life, useful functions, unobtrusive and unpretentious -- and a new one is just a day or two and a dozen dollars away if you choose to use it in submersion settings and it fails. (I wouldn't press the buttons while it's submerged, though: that's asking for trouble.) |
