User questions & answers

Question: Are these compensated/staggered height tuners
Answer: Yes. There are two heights of tuners. Three long and three short. Just FYI, there is no order other than that. I bought more of these and checked exclusively to see if there was staggering within the groups of three and there WAS NOT. These are a fantastic upgrade from regular sealed tuners. String changing is a no-brainer and their hefty build helps them keep tuning dead-on. Hope this helps! Will
Question: Will these fit a 2014 MIM Strat without modification
Answer: IF your MIM Strat has the similar looking Fender tuners (made by Ping), then they are a direct replacement. If your Strat has the Fender "Vintage" style tuners, then they will not without a few mods. To tell for certain, just remove one of your existing tuners and look for two alignment pins on the back of the tuner which fit into two small holes drilled into in the rear of the head stock, under the tuners. If you have those alignment pins, you're golden.
Question: will these on a right handed 2014 MIM standard
Answer: I put these on a right handed 2006 MIM standard Strat and the peg holes aligned perfectly ... They popped right in.
Question: I am looking for locking tuners for a Telecaster and amazon gave me this listing for this product. Could you tell me if these would work on a it
Answer: Standard fender locking MIM tuners are fine people just don’t know how to use them. They are locking so you need to slack the string and tune up. As soon as you tune down it un locks. Think of a ratchet strap..... And the nut needs some graphite like pencil lead. Messy but works.

User questions & answers

Question: I know it says Stratocaster but I put these tuners on a telecaster
Answer: It will depend on the age, I put them on mine but it is a 2016 model.
Question: Which neck will these fit
Answer: all USA Stratocasters with 2 peg mounting (no screws on the back of the headstock)
Question: Will these fit on a 2002 Squier strat? It’s 20th An
Answer: I'm not 100% sure, however my initial guess would be no...at least not without a degree of modification. If I remember correctly, MOST of the nicer Squier models use Ping tuners, where as these...the model for the Standards and AM Standards were originally Schaller's. The BIG issue would be that the Schallers have to little " set pins" on each tuner, so you would need to drill the headstock for this. Not impossible by any means, but not really recommended for newbies or the faint of heart. Depending on your reason for changing tuners, I'd actually recommend just sticking with a gold plated set of Pings instead...should be able to pick them up for cheap just about anywhere. Pings are very decent tuners...I have them on SEVERAL of my instruments (including most of my own Squiers, as well as my Seagull S6 and both of my Ovation acoustics!). For example, if your simply worried about aesthetic concerns, go with the Pings. If it's something like a tuning issue however, instead of tuners, I'd recommend taking the guitar in for a setup...90% of Strat tuning problems, Fender, Squier or otherwise...usually comes down to a bad setup, NOT the tuners themselves. Hope this helps!
Question: Can the buttons be taken off? I want the machine, but I want pearl white heads. Can it be done
Answer: Yes, you can. taking a small screwdrider (one that fits the slotted groove on the head of the screw on the button of the tuning key),gently turn counterclockwise several times till screw comes out. Gently remove the Chrome Button. But Note... there's a curvey small metal washer on the button post & a small whitish/clear flat washer on there with it. Dont loose these washer's ,they are to be left there for the new buttons.with the replacement button in hand look for the end that has a squarish side,on the one side, now slide on the more square shape onto the tuning post. Gently find that fit and slide it on."all the way now" then put the screws that came with the replacements and "USE THESE SCREWS !!" ( the other stock ones are a bit shorter) so use the new ones only! Now; gently turn the screw with the screwdriver and "snug-it" to the Button. "SNUGGLY NOW" but not to much more than "finger tight ok:dont want to strip these!! Done! Repeat till all are done. Pearloid buttons are available thru Stew Mac.com. Look online in the replacement buttons available for Schaller M-6 mini Tuners> They are an Exact match. They come 6 in a pack & sell for about $14.00. + shipping (of course). I've used them also on the American Standard Strat. & Gold Tuner's that have the "Fender" written Logo on the Back, including their Locking 2-pin mounted tuners which by the way are direct replacements for their "Standard" American made or even Mexi made Strat Guitars.Tele's also....The tuner's were made in China by "PING". Just an FYI... Kluson makes 2-pin GOLD.BLACK,Chrome; & even "Nickel" finishes. Also a Direct Replacement for 2-pin mount as well as 7pm screw mounts. All fit directly!! Find them on REVERB.Com they are 19:1 Ratio & are very smooth. Gold cheaper than Fender Gold Locking Tuner's @ $67.00 verses $87.00 for the Fender's. the only drawback is there are no replacement buttons.(as of yet for the Kluson's),,Bummer !All Fender's are 18:1 gear ratio. Stew Mac also has 'Ebony" Button's as well. Have fun :)

User questions & answers

Question: Will this fit a Fender Jazzmaster
Answer: These will not fit the pickup selector switch on a stock Fender Jazzmaster.
Question: Does the Volume/Tone Knobs fit cts fime-kurled split shaft pots
Answer: I have them on a stock American stratocaster. They fit perfectly. However i do have a custom built telecaster type guitar that has CTS push/pull pots.. And they are smaller than stock fender ones and would NOT fit. I’ve not found knobs to fit them?! I use the type with the screw to tighten them to the shaft.... and no they don’t really fit but the screw takes up the “slop”. Sorry I can’t point you to where to buy, i wish i knew myself.
Question: Will these fit a neck with 8mm holes
Answer: These use a vintage 3/8" diameter hole, while translates to roughly 9.5mm.
Question: Where were these made? China? Taiwan? Korea
Answer: Mexico

User questions & answers

Question: Where are these tuners made
Answer: Not sure to be honest, the original 70's tuners were made in Germany but these new ones, I have no idea. Probably China, I would email Fender and ask them. They're not as good as the original 70's tuners but they are still good.
Question: Will these work on a 1989 squire 2 strat made in korea ? its one of those guitars that have the nice maple necks and super cheap pot metal tuners
Answer: just make shure peg holes are 10mm in diameter,
Question: I am restoring a '79 Fender F-35. Will these fit the F-34 acoustic w/o any drilling, etc. ? Many thanks
Answer: No, the F- Tuners are 6 per side. For an acoustic you need 3 per side. These are completely the WRONG tuners for what you want.
Question: what diameter are the bushings ? mine are 8.8mm
Answer: They're 10mm bushings, although the shaft is 1/4". They won't fit vintage Fender except 70s and 70s reissues.

User questions & answers

Question: Will these fit a Squier Strat
Answer: These tuners are "Not" A direct-fit replacement for a Squier. Please do "NOT" Order them expecting them to be. Be prepared to make modifications to the Squier (as in drilling holes for the placement pins on not only these tuners, but the Fender Locking Tuners as well). If you do not want to make modifications? Please do "NOT" order these.
Question: where are these tuners made? taiwan or germany
Answer: Not sure where they were made but they are exactly what is on an American fender. Quality is #1. Highly recommended. Just know they have two prongs on the backside. I had to buy a special tool to drill the holes correctly. It was like 30 bucks.
Question: What is the headstock thick that it fits properly
Answer: I installed these on two Squires, the thickness was not an issue but those little nub things were problematic. I had to drill little divots out for each one. Kind of a pain but they work well.
Question: What is the gear ratio? Why is this never included in listings
Answer: 14:1 also these have two full height tuners and four short ones. Locating holes can be hard to drill if you don't have them located in the right place already. These are located differently than Squire tuners. I don't care for these tuners personally.

User questions & answers

Question: Are these made in Japan by Gotoh
Answer: Yes, they are.
Question: Will this fit my 1997 fender california series strat? someone replaced the original installed and would like to return the tuners to the originals
Answer: Some of the newer tuners come with a sleeve in Bost for original turn in keys for fender you must use a bushing
Question: where do i get conversion bushing
Answer: Stew Mac
Question: will they fit my 2013 fender telecaster MIM FSR? if not what vintage tuners will
Answer: What type of tuners does your MIM FSR have right now? Are they the sealed modern tuners with Fender written on the back of the tuners? If so these vintage style tuners will not fit without conversion bushings. The current tuner hole in your headstock is for a 10mm size tuner bushing and the pure vintage "kluson style" tuners use a smaller bushing so they will not fit the hole. So in order to use these you will need to buy these tuners plus a set of conversion bushings. I hope that helps.

User questions & answers

Question: The guitar was missing one strap button, shouldn’t there be two
Answer: This model, like a lot of cheaper acoustics, only has one. The easiest thing to do is tie the other end of the strap to the headstock, by the nut. Or you could have a second button installed at a guitar shop (or on your own if you're brave).
Question: How long is the delivery? I need it on 27 for a present
Answer: Probably won't make it in time now
Question: How hard is it to tune yourself when you first get it? (Total rookie here- wanting to start learning
Answer: There is a tuner. You just set it to the guitar and plink a string, then the tuner shows the tone. It’s very easy. I was a very beginner but could tune it immediately.
Question: What’s the size difference between kid size and this guitar. It’s for an 8 year old. Is this too big
Answer: Yes, it's going to be too big for most 8-year olds. I'd recommend that you go to a regular guitar store and try several out before making your decision, so you have some benchmarks to help you decide. There are 3/4 sized guitars which sound pretty decent for beginners, and also there are cutaways and double cutaways (Yamaha for example) with thinner bodies that make it easier for a child or small adult to learn. Also ask about the "scale" of the guitar. Regular scale is 25.5 inches, but slightly shorter guitars will be easier for children and small adults to play. I recommend that you buy a brand name, as well. If the guitar is well-made, the person is more likely to stay with it and end up learning to play the guitar.
