Elixir acoustic bass guitars are known for their high-quality strings, which are designed to enhance the playability and tonal qualities of acoustic bass instruments. These strings are manufactured by the company Elixir Strings, a well-respected brand in the world of guitar and bass accessories. Here are some key features and characteristics of Elixir acoustic bass guitar strings:

  1. Longevity: Elixir strings are famous for their longevity. They are coated with a special, patented NANOWEB or POLYWEB coating, which helps protect the strings from dirt, sweat, and other contaminants that can cause corrosion and reduce string life. This coating extends the lifespan of the strings, keeping them sounding fresh and bright for a longer time compared to uncoated strings.

  2. Tone: Elixir acoustic bass guitar strings are designed to produce a clear and balanced tone. The coating not only preserves the strings but also affects the tonal characteristics, providing a smoother and more consistent sound over time.

  3. Playability: Musicians appreciate the smooth feel and easy playability of Elixir strings. The coating reduces finger squeak and friction, making them comfortable to play, especially during extended playing sessions.

  4. String Gauges: Elixir offers a variety of string gauges to suit different playing styles and preferences. Whether you prefer lighter strings for ease of play or heavier strings for a more substantial tone, Elixir provides options to match your needs.

  5. Acoustic Bass Compatibility: Elixir produces strings specifically designed for acoustic bass guitars. These strings are optimized for the unique characteristics of acoustic bass instruments, including scale length and resonance.

  6. String Materials: Elixir uses high-quality materials in their string construction. The core of the strings is typically made from steel, which provides strength and durability, while the coating adds an extra layer of protection.

  7. String Types: Elixir offers different string types, including round wound and phosphor bronze, which can influence the tonal characteristics and playability of the strings. Musicians can choose the type that best suits their desired sound.

  8. String Sets: Elixir offers string sets designed for specific acoustic bass guitar models, ensuring a tailored fit and optimal performance.

  9. Brand Reputation: Elixir Strings has built a strong reputation in the music industry for producing high-quality strings that are favored by professional musicians and amateurs alike.

  10. String Lifespan: One of the standout features of Elixir acoustic bass guitar strings is their extended lifespan. Musicians often find that Elixir strings maintain their tone and playability significantly longer than uncoated strings.

Overall, Elixir acoustic bass guitar strings are known for their durability, tone, and playability. Musicians who want strings that not only sound great but also last a long time often choose Elixir as their preferred string brand for their acoustic bass instruments.

Product description

Strum confidently with the same premium acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available. Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set. Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes? Engineered to endure, these acoustic strings constructed with phosphor bronze wrap wire boast a dynamic balance of rich, full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity. Compared to our original POLYWEB Coating, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating allows a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel. For a slicker, gentler feel, try a set of strings with our original POLYWEB Coating. The 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, for example, might be a good fit if you want a more robust and rounded tone. On the other end of the tone spectrum, our 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating deliver a brighter, crisper tone alongside the same traditional feel as these phosphor bronze strings. Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone or feel is right for you? User questions & answers

Question: Would you recommend this for a Taylor 816ce
Answer: I have a 614ce and these are perfect! The custom lights (.11) are also acceptable but you may lose some volume, still they sound good. I would play around with gauges and get the best feel and sound for you! Taylors are high class!
Question: how many strings are in the package
Answer: This is a full set of 6 strings for acoustic guitar.
Question: Are all 6 strings supposed to be bronze and nano coated, or are the E-1 and B-2 anti-rust plain steel
Answer: On the individual strings' paper packets, only the wound strings (G-3 through E-6) have "Nanoweb coating" text. The E-1 and B-2 strings say "anti-rust plain steel" instead.
Question: What is the difference in sound between an 80/20 and phosphor bronze please? And poly and nano web? Which is warmer, less bright
Answer: 80/20 is very bright and crisp... Phosphor bronze is far more articulate and warm. And over all a more balanced sound. Hence why they cost a bit more than 80/20. As for poly vs nano? Poly has more coating to protect the strings.. But dull the sound a bit. Nano has less coating but last a bit less than poly. Hope that helps.

Less Sweat, Debris, And Finger Squeak

The way your strings sound has a lot to do with what you normally can’t see. While both of our patented coatings reduce noisy finger squeak, they also cut down on a large number of other pesky annoyances common to your average uncoated string. Sweat, skin, dirt, and even air, for example, can do a lot of damage to your strings. And if you live in a hot, humid area, the moisture in the atmosphere can wreak total havoc on your strings’ tone life. But with Elixir Strings, you’re getting world-class protection that’s engineered to endure.

Polyweb Coating Vs NANOWEB Coating

POLYWEB Coating was our first coated string innovation all the way back in the '90s. It tends to warm and mellow the string’s tone and has a fast, slick feel that’s gentle on the fingers, which lets players keep jamming without the strings getting in the way. As a response to players who said they prefer a more traditional feel, NANOWEB Coating was then designed. This ultra-thin coating allows a brighter, crisper tone while offering the same amount of tone-life protection as its predecessor.

Coated Like No Other

Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. That’s why Elixir strings retain their tone longer than any other brand’s string, coated or uncoated. Simply put, build-up and corrosion kill your tone, and Elixir strings protect against elements that cause build-up and corrosion. All while sounding exactly how you’d expect a premium set of strings to sound.

Anti-Rust Plating

Corrosion protection between wrap wire windings is all well and good, but you may be asking yourself, 'What about the strings that don’t have a wrap wire?' And we’re proud to tell you, don’t worry—we’ve got those covered too. Literally. With our signature Anti-Rust Plating, even your plain steel strings defy the elements. This ensures longer tone life not just for your coated wound strings, but for your entire set. When we say you’ll have more gigging, jamming, touring, or practice time between string changes, we mean it.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the difference between poly web and nano web? Which is warmer, less bright
Answer: I've tried both, and I'd say the polyweb coated strings are less bright. I prefer a brighter sound so I go with the nanoweb.
Question: Why do I pay for amazon prime to get 3 day expedited shipping order these strings and ten days later no strings
Answer: Because Jeff Bezo's needs money to pay for his expensive divorce.
Question: I own a Wasburn D10N guitar and can't decide between the Elixir Light Nanoweb 80/20 Bronze and Phosphor bronze. Any suggestions - spruce top
Answer: I have used almost every brand of strings on my various Martin acoustics. Elixirs stand above the crowd in terms of tone quality. 80/20 bronze bring out the best but need changing about every 2-3 months max for a daily player. Phosphor-bronze have less nuanced tone but still excellent, and seem to last almost twice as long. Recommend 80/20 for the regular player who wants the most "detailed" tone, P-B for more occasional playing and longer life. Discerning players will be happy with either in any case.
Question: What is the difference in sound between the 80/20s and the Phosphor Bronze nano web? I enjoy ease of fingering, warm sound, projection. Which one
Answer: 80/20s bronze will initially be brighter. Phosphor bronzes will be warmer. 80/20s become warmer after use more quickly and may become undesirable to use more quickly because the strings are no longer giving you the desired tone you started with. Phosphor bronzes hold their initial tone longer, but are by design, warmer. Projection (beyond gauge of the strings~heavy vs medium vs light vs extralight) and ease of fingering have much more to do with the guitar you're using, style of playing (use of a pick/how hard you're strumming/finger-picking), and setup (tuning~you drop down a half a step, the strings will have less tension and will be easier to bend).

User questions & answers

Question: Would these extra long scale strings fit perfectly on a Jazz Bass
Answer: I use them on my 2012 Fender Jazz Deluxe and they fit just fine. Good luck!
Question: Is the long scale string appropriate for most standard size basses
Answer: Yes
Question: Will these work with a 32 inch acoustic bass guitar
Answer: It really depends on the acoustic bass guitar. Most bass strings intended for long 34" scale have 37" of winding from the ball end to either the silk or in this case where the string starts to taper. Th E string in particular may be too large to ffed through the tuner hole.
Question: Is it available to ship abroad to South Korea
Answer: We do not ship overseas.

Repels Sweat And Debris

The way your strings sound has a lot to do with what you normally can’t see. Thankfully, our patented coating process protects your strings from a large number of tone-deadening ailments common to your average uncoated string.

NANOWEB Coating

Redesigned specifically for bass guitars, our ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating allows our strings the smoothest, most traditional feel available from Elixir Strings without sacrificing the same tone-extending protection you’ve come to expect from our expert engineering. This thinner, nearly unnoticeable coating also keeps the strings sounding exactly how they should, ensuring minimal mellowing and a stellar presence that hits as hard as you need it to, whether on the stage or in the studio.

Better Grip And Reduced Finger Squeak

Incredible tone. The perfect feel. Longer tone life than any other brand. What more could you ask for? Well, we’ve actually got two more innovative advantages to our coated strings for you to consider—decreased finger squeak and an incredible grip. Even with a coating so thin you can barely feel it, NANOWEB Coating cuts down on that annoying, shrill chirp for an unbelievably clean, seamless performance every time you play. And compared to other coatings, the made-for-bass NANOWEB Coating gives the string an enhanced grip, producing a playing experience that’s both consistent and comfortable.

User questions & answers

Question: Do these work with a First Act electric guitar
Answer: If it's an electric guitar with magnetic pickup in the usual places, then they'll work just fine. I never heard of "First Act" guitars though.
Question: Do they have these in acoustic
Answer: No. Not yet.
Question: Would these be okay for a Harmony acoustic electric guitar and what gauge strings
Answer: Typically for an acoustic guitar you want acoustic strings, commonly phosphor bronze. These are for an electric guitar and have an unwound fourth string. They can be used in any guitar if you choose. I would suggest 11's on the light and up to 13's. I typically use 12's in my acoustic guitars
Question: At what point on the size scale does the 3-string (G) become a wound string? Individual string dimension should be stated in the specs
Answer: Usually a wound 3rd is clearly stated on strings packaging, as that is a salient feature. You will find this often in electric sets 12-52, usually labelled "Heavy" or "Jazz." In most cases the wound G string starts at .021 or .022, but I've seen sets that wind the g at .018-.019. I know this is more general info and not related to Elixir, but I'm guessing it applies to their strings, too.

User questions & answers

Question: How easy are these strings to bend? I'm looking for a good country sound that are easy to bend
Answer: I play a lot of country and blues tunes on my Telecaster. I have been using Elixir Polyweb 9-42 gauge strings for a few years. I have no problems with bends. The tension feels the same as any other 9-42 gauge strings that I have used. The main plus is that Elixir strings keep their tone much longer than non coated strings. Supposedly, Elixer Nanoweb strings have a slightly brighter tone and feel than the Polyweb strings. I recommend at least trying a set on your electric guitar to see if you like the tone and feel. I have had a set of Elixer Nanoweb 9-42 on my Heritage electric guitar with humbucking pickups for over a year with no breakage and very little loss of tone! I use Elixer Polyweb 10-46 on my Stratocaster. I don't do a lot of string bends on the Strat, but I like the slightly heavier feel and warmer tones on that guitar. Hope this answers the question for you.
Question: Will these strings work for a bass guitar
Answer: Technically, you could use the 6th string of this pack as your 1st string on your bass. But don't bother. Just buy a pack of bass guitar strings.
Question: what size strings would you guys recommend for a beginner that has no experience whatsoever with any kind of instrument Any answer I will appreciate
Answer: The smaller the gauge, the thinner the strings are. Usually, people refer to them as "9s, 10s, 11s and sometimes 12s." That refers to the high E string (the smallest one) at 0.009mm thick, 0.10mm thick, 0.11mm etc... If you're a beginner, 9s will be the easiest to play, but you may be better off using 10s right from the start so you can build up some strength. But you don't want playing to be uncomfortable. To be honest, the best way to learn and to gain finger strength would be by playing acoustic guitar
Question: Excuse me, these are with 011 gauge, right
Answer: That is correct. These go from .011 to .049. Best, -Brian

Question: Lots of bad reviews is it as good as people say
Answer: It really depends on what you're looking for in bass strings. I love the feel of these strings and only change out the set every three to four months or as needed. They give me the same sound as regular steel but with the tape wound feel.

Repels Sweat And Debris

The way your strings sound has a lot to do with what you normally can’t see. Thankfully, our patented coating process protects your strings from a large number of tone-deadening ailments common to your average uncoated string.
