User questions & answers
Question: | I ordered these but it only came with just 3 of the 6th string. Is this normal |
Answer: | You should receive an outer box with three inner boxes, each of which should be a complete set of strings, which for this set is one each of Gauges: .010, .013, .017, .026, .036, .046. You need to contact the seller that sent this to you for a fix. Frankly, in my experience, that sounds like something that would come from the Amazon Outlet store of "like new", "box may be damaged" stuff that almost NEVER seems to have what is supposed to be there...…………………. |
Question: | im as green as it gets with guitars,i have been told by 2 different people,1 says med and 1 says light.will these strings be a good medium for me |
Answer: | Welcome to guitar playing. I'd recommend you try guitar forums instead of Amazon users. You never know what kind of experience is behind the answer you get. I've been playing for 25 years, so I won't steer you wrong. Light strings are actually the 'medium' your looking for. Each string in the set is a gauge (measured size). Sets are often referred to by the smallest gauged string. So for this set of mediums your asking about, we'd call those 11's because the smallest string in the set is .011. For electric, 10's (.010) is the middle ground. Extra light (9's) are used for more shred type players. They're easy to play and bend, but less tone. 11's or even 12's have a big fat tone, but are harder to play. If you stick with it, you'll wind up trying all kinds of sets, so don't be afraid to try something new. Btw, watch a YouTube video or two on how to properly change strings and even setup your guitar. The better setup a guitar is, the easier to play and the better it sounds. Good luck! |
Question: | does this set have a wound G |
Answer: | No..plain |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the color coding of gauges |
Answer: | look on the package |
Question: | Can this extra slinky be used in acoustic steel string guitar, which has pick up, though this pack clearly stated for electric guitar |
Answer: | I never used acoustic strings on my electric guitars. These strings were to thin and light for my electric guitars so I'm sure they will be to light for a acoustic. I use D'Addario .012-.056 phospher bronze on all my acoustics even the ones with electronics in them. I like my acoustic guitars to sound full and rich. |
Question: | How do these hold up? Since they are so thin I fear they would break easily |
Answer: | That’s strings hold up very well. They are of the typical Dunlop quality, which is consistently outstanding. I always give them a gentle stretch and they hold tune very well. If you’re a bit heavy handed, you may need to lighten up your touch and it will be weird at first. I went from .010-.046 to the .007 set on my Gibson ES 333 and bends are so much easier and my arthritis doesn’t hurt so much and my stinging vibrato ala BB King is so much more controllable. They last a good long while, have great tone and it’s a nice change to my guitars for playing comfort, especially as I get older. Very, very highly recommended! |
Question: | Are the Billy Gibbons strings nickel or steel |
Answer: | You'll see it in the name - nickel plated steel. |

A unique combination of crisp highs, aggressive mids, and a focused low end gives Dunlop Electric Guitar Strings a voice all their own. The Dunlop recipe for string-to-string balance and responsiveness produces string sets that are perfect for dynamic lead work, while notes in a chord ring out clearly whether clean or heavily distorted. Gauges: .009, .011, .016, .024, .032, .042
- Warm, aggressive midrange
- Excellent dynamics
- Smooth feel
User questions & answers
Question: | Because this seems to naturally has a warmer tone would this balance out the sd-ssl1 pickups for a bright and warm tone |
Answer: | The Majority of tone comes from 3 places. Your fingers, the wood of the guitar, and the electronics. If you want a brighter tone, I would recommend replacing your .22 cap with a .47. This will roll off some of the bass and give you a brighter tone. These strings have a great balance. They play easy and provide great tone for about 1-2 weeks depending on use. If you are looking for them to brighten up the tone of your guitar, I would go with a capacitor instead. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these good to us on a Les Paul |
Answer: | Ya they would be good on any guitar, but you'll have to match the string size on it or do a new setup. |
Question: | Can these be use on acustic |
Answer: | I guess it's possible, but why would you want to put these on an acoustic? Also it may not be possible to down-tune with that setup; I think acoustics have heavier strings in general so these would just be a little fat instead of extra heavy.Great strings for the price, however. |
Question: | How is standard tuning or e flat with these strings |
Answer: | heavy gauge with lowered tuneing sound sweet. but u want ypur guitar intonnated to a tuneing u plan kn playing the most or it will suck |
Question: | Would this be good for dropped octave tuning? Can the strings handle it |
Answer: | Yes, I tune down to B on a six string and have played as low as A. These strings are made for down tuning as they remain detailed and crisp due to the strength of the fundamental, I don't like to use these unless I'm down tuning because of how detailed they are |

Dunlop Heavy Core Heavier Electric Guitar Strings 11-50 - 2 Pack …
User questions & answers
Question: | Hey does this come with picks |
Answer: | No, it’s just the strings. But I play these and the Dunlop purple gel picks work well with them. |
Question: | Are these for heavy metal drop tunings and standard |
Answer: | These are great for heavy metal drop tuning and sound great. I used to use Elixer strings until I discovered the Heavy Core and they are my favorite strings now. I use 11/50 and they tend to be a deeper sounding string. In my opinion they are the best for drop tuning. |
