12 best baritone horn marching band

The baritone horn is a musical instrument commonly used in marching bands, and it is a member of the brass family. It is often referred to as simply "baritone" in the context of marching bands. The baritone horn has a distinctive shape and sound and is an essential component of the brass section in these musical ensembles.

Here's some key information about the baritone horn in marching bands and its related accessories:

  1. Baritone Horn: The baritone horn is a brass instrument that resembles a small tuba or euphonium. It is pitched in either B♭ or E♭, with the B♭ baritone being more common in marching bands. The instrument has a conical bore and a flared bell. It is played with a cup-shaped mouthpiece and produces a warm, mellow sound.

  2. Marching Band Usage: Baritone horns are a crucial part of the brass section in marching bands. They play an important role in providing harmonic support, filling the mid-range frequencies, and adding depth to the overall sound of the ensemble. Baritone players often wear a harness or strap to support the instrument while marching.

  3. Straps and Strap Locks: Straps and strap locks are accessories used to secure the baritone horn to the player while they march. These straps are designed to distribute the weight of the instrument evenly across the player's shoulders, making it more comfortable to carry during parades, halftime shows, and other marching band performances. Strap locks help ensure that the instrument remains securely attached to the player's body.

  4. Guitar Bass Accessories: While the term "Guitar Bass Accessories" is typically associated with accessories for electric bass guitars, it may not be directly related to the baritone horn in a marching band context. The baritone horn is a brass instrument, and its accessories, including straps and strap locks, are specific to brass and wind instruments.

  5. Instrument Accessories: Baritone players may use various instrument accessories, such as mouthpiece pouches, valve oil, and cleaning kits, to maintain and protect their instruments. These accessories help ensure that the baritone horn remains in good playing condition.

In summary, the baritone horn is an important brass instrument in marching bands, and it is commonly used alongside accessories like straps and strap locks to facilitate comfortable and secure playing while marching. While the term "Guitar Bass Accessories" is not directly related to the baritone horn, it is essential for musicians to have the right accessories and equipment to support their instrument and maintain its performance quality.

User questions & answers

Question: Is the case soft? Does it really protect from dents? My10y/o tends to bang it around so he needs a hard case
Answer: The soft case is very suitable to lug around from home/school. My 11 yr old have been using for the last year, and is using it this year too. So far no dents on the instrument have been observed! The case has sufficient padding within to protect the contents. I don't regret buying its cheaper than renting by far. The teacher was happy with the instrument quality too.
Question: Does the horn sound good in a band, or is it better for practicing
Answer: My son uses it daily in band class and has had no complaints from his instructors. He has not yet taken part in a public performance using this instrument however.
Question: Is this a full size baritone
Answer: No it is smaller than the concert baritone that my son uses at school. I still rent the one from school, but he uses this one to practice at home.
Question: is it a baritone or euphonium? the picture looks like euphonium but it says baritone
Answer: It appears to be a modern baritone due to its bell shape and horn size. Not all baritones have forward facing bells/valves, nor to all euphoniums have 4 valves. The difference is usually in the conical vs cylindrical bell, similar to the difference between a coronet vs trumpet. Baritones have brighter sounds and are better for marching bands, and the bell is conical like a trumpet and is typically curved forward or the whole instrument is forward facing (like a mellophone) to project sound forward, however some do point up. Most baritones have 3 valves, however original baritones had 2 valves and I have seen baritones with up to 5 valves. Euphoniums, on the other hand, have conical bells, similar to a coronet or French horn. The sound the bell produces is warmer and richer, and better for symphony bands. Beginner euphoniums typically have 3 valves. As you advance, the 4th valve allows the player to reach lower notes with greater pitch accuracy, the 4th valve on the side (compensator) allows the player to hit much lower notes with ease. Most beginners can start with either baritone or euphonium as long as it plays in B flat. Advanced players, needing the richer sounds, or better tones in the lower register will need a euphonium.

User questions & answers

Question: Will the bell fold a bit to fit in a suitcase
Answer: No. Most euphs fit perfectly. Just be careful, because they fit snugly in the case, banging into something could dent the bell inside. Also, marching baritones fit loosely so you’ll need to put something in there to make
Question: Does this have wheels
Answer: No it doesn't. It is very light though.
Question: Will this case fit a Wessex Dolce
Answer: If the Dolce is bell up it should. Wessex does make a euphonium gig bag also.
Question: We have a Jupiter JBR700 that will not fit in a standard baritone horn bag (9.5" bell.) Will this fit
Answer: I have an early 1930’s American Standard baritone with upright bell of 11”, 13” across at widest point, and a tad under 28” long. It was a very tight fit the first several times I placed the baritone inside. The padding for the back end of the horn is getting more flexible so it ‘s very manageable.

User questions & answers

Question: does it play in bass celf
Answer: Either bass in C or trebel in Bb. Heck, you can play it however you want! I play piano in Eb trebel clef, when it's suppose to be in trebel and bass clef in C. The reason there are different keys is because the commoj range of the instrument can be notated to be easier to read, at least that's my hypothesis, but I've been told that it's because bugle-like instruments (brass with no valves nor slides) would be in an overtone series's of the key Bb. We could just make every instrument read in C (bass or trebel clef and maybe even keep octave trebel and bass clef as well as alto and tenor clef), but there is too much music to do this and millions of people would have to relearn how to read music; it's possible, and it may be worth it, but it would require millions of pieces to be transposed and a major shift in teaching how to play music to saxophonists, brass players, clarinetists, and more, however we have done this for piccolo which is now in C but was in Db. Maybe if we did it where everyone born after X day (mm/dd/yy) would be taught to play all instruments in C, and some would be taught different clefs (e.g. Eb saxophones (alto/bari/sopranino/contrabass) in bass clef, F horns (English horn, French horn (I've heard the correct name is alto double horn)) in... alto clef), but to enforce this way to be taught by everyone would require a totalitarian force I presume and it would be difficult for people to teach a new and when the people taught in the new way to perform with those who weren't taught that way and for the conductor as well. But the point is, of course, it can play however you want, and you can even make your own weird tablature for it if you want, but the primary way to play is in C bass clef or Bb trebel clef, especially in schools, and it's best to learn both just in case, but the euphist at school plays in bass clef and I am probably going to learn in Eb (the same as bass clef except you read the notes as if they were in trebel clef and add three sharps when going from c bass to Eb trebel).
Question: Hard case or soft case? Really would prefer a smaller, soft case
Answer: This comes with a light weight pro-deluxe durable plush lined nylon covered hard shell case with backpack straps and zipper pocket.
Question: Is muoth peice 6 1/2 al or 12 c
Answer: The seller mentioned this needs a mouthpiece size is 9.5c. There is no such size. Please provide the link for replacement mouthpieces that fit this euphonium. Thank you.
Question: Whats the difference between a 4/4 and a
Answer: If you are referring to the Mendini MBR-20 Lacquer Brass, we only carry size 3/4.
Question: Is the case soft? Does it really protect from dents? My10y/o tends to bang it around so he needs a hard case
