Onstage guitar stands are essential accessories for guitarists, allowing them to safely and conveniently store their instruments while on stage or during practice sessions. These stands are designed to hold acoustic guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, and other stringed instruments. Here's what you should know about onstage guitar stands:
Types of Guitar Stands:
A-Frame Stand: This is a common and versatile type of guitar stand. It has two arms that form an "A" shape and securely hold the guitar from the bottom bout. A-Frame stands are suitable for both acoustic and electric guitars.
Tripod Stand: Tripod stands have three legs that provide stability. They often come with adjustable height and are a good choice for acoustic guitars and heavier instruments like bass guitars.
Wall-Mounted Hangers: Wall-mounted guitar hangers are an excellent option for conserving floor space. They securely hold the guitar on the wall, displaying it like artwork.
Guitar Racks: Guitar racks can hold multiple instruments at once, making them a practical choice for musicians with several guitars. They come in various sizes to accommodate different instruments.
Material and Construction:
- Onstage guitar stands are typically made from materials like metal, wood, or plastic. Metal stands are durable and suitable for heavy instruments, while wooden stands can be more aesthetically pleasing.
Portability:
- Many onstage guitar stands are designed to be portable, featuring collapsible or foldable designs. This makes them easy to transport to gigs or rehearsals.
Instrument Protection:
- These stands often have padding or foam on contact points to protect the guitar's finish from scratches and damage. Some models also include neck supports to prevent the instrument from tipping over.
Adjustability:
- Some guitar stands offer adjustable features, such as height adjustment or angle adjustment. This allows musicians to customize the stand to their preferred playing position or the size of the instrument.
Gigging and Studio Use:
- Onstage guitar stands are essential for live performances, keeping the instrument accessible between songs. In the studio, they can be useful for holding guitars ready for recording.
Compatibility:
- Ensure that the stand you choose is compatible with your specific type of guitar or instrument. Some stands are designed exclusively for acoustic guitars, electric guitars, or bass guitars.
Stability and Weight Capacity:
- Stability is crucial to prevent the guitar from accidentally falling over. Check the weight capacity of the stand to ensure it can support your instrument safely.
Cost and Brand:
- Prices for onstage guitar stands can vary widely based on factors like materials, brand, and features.Well-known brands in the musical instrument industry often produce reliable and sturdy stands.
Overall, onstage guitar stands are essential accessories for any guitarist, providing a secure and convenient way to store and display their instruments during performances, rehearsals, or practice sessions. Question: | Does the bottom yoke have padding or is it just metal |

Question: | Just got mine. Is there a screw for arms supporting the bottom of the guitar? The arms can slip off |
Answer: | Not if u place a strap lock . Have had it a couple of months now and it’s working perfectly not had any problem or issues, but it’s with a strap lock not sure without it... |
Question: | It won't assemble, are there instructions available? The cradle wobbles and will not stay in place amd there's no way to keep the neck in place |

User questions & answers
Question: | can this stand hold a tascam dp |
Answer: | I wouldn’t think so. It is built to hold a guitar. |
Question: | Question for the manufacturer: Will this guitar stand damage the finish of a guitar with a nitrocellulose finish |
Answer: | I have used this guitar stand with a Martin HD-35 acoustic and Gibson ES-355 electric guitars. These guitars are fairly high end. I don’t know what their finish is but there has been no damage from the stand. Ed C |
Question: | Who knows how to make this a Captain America shield stand |
Answer: | Assuming it is a full sized shield, it might stand up on it as is. Or you could try a On-Stage XCG-4, which might work better. |
Question: | can this stand be used for electric as well as acoustic guitars |
Answer: | Yes, I tried it with both. Both will rest properly but both will be seated at an (uncomfortable to look at) angle. I tried two electrics: a Gibson Les and Ibanez. Also tried a thin bodied acoustic. It will hold both styles of varying widths. But honestly, I'm not a fan of this stand and no longer use it. |
