You could not use the bridge at all and Although this is a fine nut and bridge set for acoustic guitars I believe the nut would be too thick for the starcaster. It might fit width wise but could potentially affect intonation by changing the string angle from nut to keys. This could cause the string to pivot slightly off the intended position. You could fix it by filling the slots at an angle toward the keys but why go to all that trouble. The nut would never really look right anyway. I would recommend looking for electric guitar nuts instead. Amazon has several bone nuts made for Fender necks. I hope this helps. |

A good measurement of the bridge saddle opening is going to be key, especially for a compensated saddle. Remeasure. The Graphtech/Tusq website is going to have them all listed with sizes. Massed produced Asian guitars are usually 72mm, with the exceptions of some Yamahas, Epiphones, and a few others. You might want to go with bone? I usually do with a saddle. |

You don’t want it too tight if the humidity should change too much it could crack the bridge. |

I suggest laying the sandpaper flat on your counter or kitchen table and moving the nut over the sandpaper, to ensure that you get a nice flat sanded surface. I installed this nut in a cheap strat copy that had a narrower slot and was able to get a good fit by sanding in this manner. (Note that if you have an aversion to the smell of having your teeth drilled at the dentist, as I do, this can be a somewhat unpleasant task.) |
