Answer:	I don't see why it wouldn't be good for a hollow body. You would want to monitor the humidity closely so it isn't too high so you don't affect the electronics.

Answer:	The Super dampit is 11" from tip to tip.
Question:	I feel really stupid, but how do you attach the dampit to the soundhole cover
Answer:	It's not a stupid question at all. The answer is not obvious from the photo. Even the instructions can be less than clear upon the first read. You don't attach the Dampit to the soundhole cover, you slip it between the strings of the guitar. The large black "button" on top of the dampit prevents it from slipping into your soundhold. It's sort of like placing a pencil that has a giant eraser between your fingers. The tension from your fingers hold it somewhat, then the large eraser stops it when it gets to your fingers. I hope that makes sense.
Question:	does this product come with the clear plastic soundhole cover
Answer:	If it is a Dampit brand specifically for guitar it should come with the cover. Mine did. I can see why you ask, it isn't in the photo on the product package, nor is it in the product description. I also checked their website which shows the cover for the regular one, but not for the super guitar humidifier. I bought the Super and it did come with the cover. The difference is the Super has a longer tube that holds more water. Make sure you follow the instructions on pinching out the excess water and wiping the exterior of the tube before placing it inside the guitar. They work so much better than the Oasis designs or planet waves. I think Dunlop makes one that looks just like the Dampit, but does not include the cover.But I digress ... yes, my Super Dampit for Guitar came with the clear plastic cover that is held in place by the strings. Answer:	Think I recall seeing one for $15.99 on sweetwater.com. But, again, I recommend you do your own search to find a Dampit or other humidifier at a lower cost. Not sure but think the Dampit on sweetwater comes with a cheap hygrometer of sorts. Not a bad idea to have one to get a good idea if what you're using is providing adequate humidity or, as the weather changes, is not over humidifying.

Question:	Can I use this with an archtop? How would I attach it
Answer:	Simply tie a string to the dampit and tie it to anything outside the guitar, then place it in the f-hole of the archtop. That way if it falls in you can easily get it back out. It's not complicated but it works.

Answer:	It is a much better and safer system than the oasis. Yes it can fit in a tenor Uke.

Answer:	You put the green rubber tube inside of your guitar holding it on the side of the round opening using the clip. The card is to indicate to you the humidity levels.

Answer:	Dont think twice about getting this one! I have the regular guitar Dampit and this is larger in diameter(.600 in. vs..420 in.). It stays moist about twice as long. With this one I split time between in the guitar and other spots it the case ( headstock area, ect.) which is recommended by Taylor. The idea is to humidify the case as well as the guitar. Answer:	I never put it in between my strings. I just set it between the edge of the hole and either of the E strings. It's a perfect fit and much easier.

Answer:	If the sound hole is 2 1/2" inches wide it should fit. You just press it down into the sound hole between two strings. It's not much more than a half inch wide. The tension created by separating the strings holds it in place.

Answer:	Haven't measured humidity, but my Martin Smith guitar requires 2 soaked devices and at least 24 hours, once fret buzz shows up. Once the buzz be gone, I can get by with one.

Answer:	It’s very useful for a bass outside it’s case - it stays in the bass while it sits in a stand, no case involved. It helps with the humidity, especially during the winter. Just be sure to re-wet it periodically.

Question:	Is the Dampit recommended for rooms that are usually cold? My bass sits in a room averaging 68 degrees Fahrenheit most of the time
Answer:	68 degrees fahrenheit is not cold. In fact, it's generally considered to be the normal and recommended indoor temperature. As others have pointed out, it's the humidity that counts, not the temperature although relative humidity drops as temperature drops. If your indoor relative humity is very low, you really should consider getting a whole house humidifier. But guitar humidifers are used when you can't maintain a normal (45-55% RH) where you store the guitar. If your storage area (or whole house) is at 45-55% RH, you don't need a guitar humidifier.
Question:	Is the bass the correct size for a concert grand harp

Question:	How do you get it out of the guitar? Like trying to shake out a lost flat pick
Answer:	The concept is simple -- Provide a greater capacity such that refilling is not required as often. And provide it in a form that allows you to play the guitar anytime you like while still humidifying. I have guitars at home and at the office. I really like that I can humidify my guitars while they are hanging up, or on a on a stand, as opposed to being stuck in a case with a between the strings unit. It allows be to grab my guitar anytime to play along to something on the radio or whatever, as opposed to losing the moment because it's stuck in a case. And to be honest, because it's bigger than a pick its actually really easy to retrieve :)

Answer:	I purchased mine for a ukulele. Works just fine.
Question:	I have a hybrid Taylor t5 and no humidifier can be fit inside. Would this do to just “tie” around a neck inside a case. The guitar is pretty dry
Answer:	You can also use this by placing it inside the case. Water will dissipate in the air through osmosis and will always attempt to naturally equalize the humidity finding its way inside your thin f-holes
Question:	Would this humidifier work as well if were in the case as opposed to inside of the guitar? I need to keep my guitar between 40%-60% RH
Answer:	The PET-1 is equally at home inside your guitar or in a case. It has a greater capacity than others, and due to its large surface area it does an excellent job of raising the humidity to desired levels. You are correct the ideal humidity for a guitar is 40 to 60 %, but more importantly is the moisture content of the wood, which should be around 8% by volume. It takes weeks for wood to equilibrate, so short term humidity fluctuations aren’t a big problem, whereas long term seasonal changes are. Under typical conditions, if you have low humidity in your environment, you should supplement with the PET-1 either inside your guitar or in your case. And, if you have extreme conditions you are trying to recover from, such as a guitar that is cracked from being overly dry, you would want to use the PET-1 inside the guitar with the sound hole closed off. We did this with a 1966 barn find, Yamaha FG-180 - it took around 3 weeks to recover, and went from sounding awful, to regaining its renowned full bodied sound. If you can provide specifics about your situation we can provide recommendations accordingly.

Soak it first…

• Remove the plastic fastener holding the PET-1 together.
• Gently manipulate the outer shell allowing the polymer core 
to move toward the center of the PET-1, making sure none of the polymer is near either end.
• Using clean tap water, fill a container that’s large enough for the 
PET-1 to LAY FLAT. and submerge for approximately 25 minutes.
• Rest for 10 minutes. This will allow the polymer to absorb
 any residual water, safely locking it into the core as a solid.

The PET-1, simple in design uses high tech materials and should not be squeezed. The polymer core consists of a set of polymeric chains that are parallel to each other and are regularly linked to each other by cross-linking agents forming a network. When water comes into contact with one of these chains, it is drawn into the molecule by osmosis. Water then rapidly migrates into the interior of the polymer network where it is stored as a solid. Resting allows the chains to lock water into its internal structure making it LEAK FREE.

Then Dry it…

• Gently dry the monofilament outer shell with a cloth.
• The polymer core is a hi-tech absorbent – not a sponge. DO NOT SQUEEZE OR WRING OUT the PET-1 when handling.
• Excessive pressure can cause the polymer to extrude. Rarely, extrusion can occur on first hydration. If this happens, wipe away residue.

Slip it in the Sound Hole or next to your headstock…

• You’re done! Now you can start humidifying!
• Insert the PET-1 into the sound hole of your guitar, and 
humidify while you play.
• OR, place at the headstock in your case with a hygrometer at the sound hole
• Ensure your guitar case is clean and free from any bacteria or mould spores.

Taking it out is eazy peazy…

• Over time the PET-1 will shrink back in size, indicating that it is time to rehydrate.
• Remove by turning your guitar upside down and gently rotating the body until the PET-1 appears at the sound hole.

Question:	Is there only one in the package, because I want one for each f hole
Answer:	There is only one humidifier in the package. It seems to be enough. Also, if you use only one in the right f-hole, it can never touch the soundpost.
Question:	If I live in Florida, do you think I need one of these
Answer:	I don't live in Florida. Hence I don't know the year round humidity there. I used to go to Tampa, Melbourne, Orlando, West Palm Beach all the time, and every time I went the place was quite humid. If the year round humidity is at least 50%, I really don't think you need a Dampit. It also depends on where you leave your violin on a daily basis most of the time. It makes a difference if you leave your violin in the open (in a room) versus in a case. I leave my violin in the open and when I put violin in a case, I usually put in the dampit before I close the case.
Question:	What is the diameter of this Dampit? I need to know the diameter of the largest part that inserts inside the instrument, the end plug
Answer:	Without actually measuring I'd guess the diameter is less than one-half inch.
Question:	Does this fit a 7/8 violin
Answer:	It all depends on the size of the circles of the f holes. Dampits does not fit even for the full size violins with the smaller f holes. The minimum circle size must be 8 mm.

Question:	Does this come with the humidifying packs
Answer:	Yes, the humidifying packs are pictured on the box. Two fabric holders are sent to suspend the packs inside your guitar. Of course, you must keep your guitar in a relatively air-tight case for the system to work. The packs are designed to keep the relative humidity between the recommended 45 to 55 percent. I use a room humidity gauge to determine whether the packs are needed.
Question:	I have been using these for 10 months and they are still not dried out. Can they last that long
Answer:	Yes, depending on the environment the guitar is kept. Although I don’t wait until the packets turn to stone before changing them. I usually change the packets when they feel a bit crunchy.
Question:	Can I use this in an electric acoustic guitar
Answer:	This product is for use in any hollow body guitar, especially during the Winter months when the heat is on and the wood tends to dry out. You MUST use a humidifier to keep the wood (especially the guitar top) of your instrument from cracking. I use this D'Addario humidifier on my custom but D-45 with excellent results.
Question:	Can you reuse the packs, like after they get hard could you put them in a humid environment and re humidify them
Answer:	Yes they can. I have been using these for years and I rotate between sets. One set is in the instrument case while the other is recharging. To recharge, get two Tupperware containers one large and one small. The smaller one (without its lid) needs to fit into the large one so that its lid can be closed. Add about 1/2 inch of water to the larger container and put the packs needed to be recharged in the smaller one, put the smaller container in the larger one and seal it. It takes about 2-3 weeks to recharge a pack that's hardened into new condition. I use humidity meters in the cases to spot check and there is no difference between a new humidipak and a recharged one. If you get the packets wet BTW, the gig is up. You have to throw them out and replace them. I get 2-3 years of service from a set of 3 before they start to fall apart. I live in Ohio BTW, so I only need them for half the year.
