Question:	I just bought this and it really seems to stretch the strings out because it's so wide. Will this ruin the strings
Answer:	I never put it in between my strings. I just set it between the edge of the hole and either of the E strings. It's a perfect fit and much easier.
Question:	Will this fit a baby Martin
Answer:	If the sound hole is 2 1/2" inches wide it should fit. You just press it down into the sound hole between two strings. It's not much more than a half inch wide. The tension created by separating the strings holds it in place.
Question:	Slim enough for a twelve string Taylor
Answer:	Yes, I have five of them and one is on a 12-string.
Question:	Has anyone measured the interior humidity of their case, i.e. how effective are these things
Answer:	Haven't measured humidity, but my Martin Smith guitar requires 2 soaked devices and at least 24 hours, once fret buzz shows up. Once the buzz be gone, I can get by with one.

Question:	How often are you supposed to use a humidifier
Answer:	One like this I would use to control humidity when I've got the guitar in the case and the weather is dry say less than 50%. However I now store my guitars on stands in a spare room and use a humidifier when the humidity is less than 50%.
Question:	I live in arizona. Leave for a month. How often does this have to be rewetted? Will using two of them delay the time
Answer:	It's a rubber tube with a sponge inside, relatively small so it doesn't store a lot of water. Using more than one will only give you more humidity over the same time period. Better find another solution. Sorry.
Question:	how to use
Answer:	1-submerge into water.2-squeeze water starting from the top moving down to the tip. Be sure no water drips from holes wben squeezing the tube.3-wipe the tube.4-insert through the sounhole between strings 3 and 4. Let the top stuck between them.Effective period is about 7 days.
Question:	Can this be used with guitar out of the case
Answer:	William, i returned these, they were too small in length, and were not Martins. This is one of the best ones (below link), it's longer, and thicker, holds a lot of moisture compared to this small one without plastic cover. and you can leave it out of the case as it comes with a plastic piece that goes over the hole to hold the moisture in, and it holds the tube. Question:	Can you use this in a guitar that is in it's case standing vertical on it's side
Answer:	Interesting. I think you mean to put the humidifier in the Strings and store the case in different positions? Yep. I think that works. You know, I didn’t feel good about pushing this into the strings and I decided to place the humidifier in the case somewhere. It works but maybe wrap it in a thin cloth so it doesn’t rattle around free and mark your nice guitar. I highly recommend calling them as I did. ( I got a sponge that was a little big). They are extremely nice and would answer all of your questions. I think I like this the best of all the humidifiers. I go the ones that were in a pack that would take away or give proper humidity. They claim that the packages are rarely broken and leak. Well, I got the “ rarely”. These are just distilled water. Much better.
Question:	Can you run the sponge under the tap or do you need to physically submerge the whole thing
Answer:	You need to submerge the sponge so it's fully saturated, BUT - don't use tap water!! Follow the manufacturer's instructions and use DISTILLED water to help prevent mold on the sponge. :)
Question:	Does the guitar need to be flat, or can it be in a stand
Answer:	I had the same concern when I first bought this, and kept the guitar flat. After a few uses, I trusted the Humitar brand sponge enough to use it with the guitar standing upright, but I always make sure that the sponge isn't dripping wet when I do so - I shake the sponge a few times, and then hold it above a dish or something to make sure it's not dripping, then I install it in the sound hole of my guitar - haven't had any issues. Of course, either way, you want to keep your guitar in it's case (or gig bag) when you use the Humitar. :)
Question:	I have 3. Worked fine for about a year, but then got black spots & guess its mold. I use distilled water. Anyone have this
Answer:	I think the number one rule is to follow the manufacturer's instructions and use DISTILLED water (not tap). Since you say you used distilled water, I also suspect that some people may handle the sponge with less than clean hands and/or they rest the sponge on a less than clean surface. This may be overkill, but lately, before I re-hydrate these sponges, I put them on a clean paper towel, wash my hands, don a pair of vinyl gloves, and then re-wet, shake off the excess water, then insert the sponge back into the holder and place in the sound hole. I own several Humitars, the first one was purchased in 2015, and knock wood (ha-ha) I have yet to experience a mold issue. :)

Answer:	The initial purchase comes with the humidifier already loaded with the proper amount of crystals and the syringe. So you get all you need for your first season. If you buy the Oasis refill crystals, you get several seasons worth of crystals along with a little spoon and another syringe. Soon, you'll have quite a collection of syringes.

Answer:	Nope, I have never had that happen. Mine "shrivels" on a regular basis.
Question:	What is the difference betewwn the tan colored oh-5 plus+ and the blue oasis humidifier
Answer:	The blue Oasis humidifer has a metal clip that attaches to the side for attaching to case and is used mainly for violins, violas, cellos, mandolins, ukuleles, & jazz guitars. The Tan one has a attachment at the top the yellow part that easily goes between the acoustic guitar strings in the sound hole. I have two of the tan ones and after trying several it by far is the best. I don't have to worry about over leakage going into my guitar body with the Oasis OH-5 Plus+ humidifier. I think by far the best on the market and it does a super job. I bought the Oasis humidifier plus the Hygrometer which I just set in my case nearest to the sound hole and it works really well. The humidifier comes with a easy fill tube so theirs no guess work and no over spillage. Plus mine last anywhere from 3-4 days between fill and no guesswork their either when it shrivels up time for refill unlike most of the other humidifiers on the market. Have to change the beads when there ready for change but with a great product like that that is minor. My Martin guitar is an investment worth protecting.

Answer:	There is a silicone clip to fix the humidifier on the guitar, and the humidifier is equipped with an absorbent sponge, so you can also use the humidifier without laying the guitar flat.

Answer:	Fyi.. I chose this product compared to others or another due to price. The other that's well-advertised is considerably more expensive. You made a good decision with this choice. I did not put it in the soundhole. didn't fit well at all right off. (Using a hard case) Instead, I used a small guitar cloth. Inserted it in the space curve towards the top of the body. Making a pocket and insert the humidifier in the pocket. Worked just fine. I've never used a humidifier till recently. Stumbled into an instruction video explaining. So I thought, OH WOW hope I haven't screwed up. So I purchased it. The humidity level measured much higher than recommended. I removed it from the case. Turns out here in the North West we have above normal levels almost year-round. Don't need it. In desert type region hell ya ya needed. Answer:	I put it between the d and g strings. I use my thumb and index fingers on my left hand to push the stings apart. Set the oasis where flat piece rests on the sthings then gently release the stings on the fill cap. Reverse to remove. Use it for 8 years. No problems.

Answer:	The humidifier works great, accept when you place it in a case, the case interior will absorp moisture. Buy a stand for $15.00 and squeeze out excessive water.
Question:	Can you hang the guitar on the wall with this in it
Answer:	If you set it properly then that should work. I'm not sure why you would want to though - it works best if you keep the guitar in the case. When I hang the guitar on a wall then I make sure the whole room is properly humidified.
Question:	How much water do you add
Answer:	I normally take the sponge out of the holder and soak it in a glass of water while I’m playing. When I’m done I remove the sponge from the glass and shake off the excess water. I then gently pat the sponge with a towel to remove any surface water before it put it back in it’s holder. This way no water can drip in my guitar.
Question:	How long do you soak the sponge in the planet wave gap guitar humidifier? The sponge doesn't seem to soften
Answer:	It takes about 30 mins. But put something over it to make sure it is completly submerged in water.

Question:	How do you get it out of the guitar? Like trying to shake out a lost flat pick
Answer:	The concept is simple -- Provide a greater capacity such that refilling is not required as often. And provide it in a form that allows you to play the guitar anytime you like while still humidifying. I have guitars at home and at the office. I really like that I can humidify my guitars while they are hanging up, or on a on a stand, as opposed to being stuck in a case with a between the strings unit. It allows be to grab my guitar anytime to play along to something on the radio or whatever, as opposed to losing the moment because it's stuck in a case. And to be honest, because it's bigger than a pick its actually really easy to retrieve :)

Answer:	I purchased mine for a ukulele. Works just fine.
Question:	I have a hybrid Taylor t5 and no humidifier can be fit inside. Would this do to just “tie” around a neck inside a case. The guitar is pretty dry
Answer:	You can also use this by placing it inside the case. Water will dissipate in the air through osmosis and will always attempt to naturally equalize the humidity finding its way inside your thin f-holes
Question:	Would this humidifier work as well if were in the case as opposed to inside of the guitar? I need to keep my guitar between 40%-60% RH
Answer:	The PET-1 is equally at home inside your guitar or in a case. It has a greater capacity than others, and due to its large surface area it does an excellent job of raising the humidity to desired levels. You are correct the ideal humidity for a guitar is 40 to 60 %, but more importantly is the moisture content of the wood, which should be around 8% by volume. It takes weeks for wood to equilibrate, so short term humidity fluctuations aren’t a big problem, whereas long term seasonal changes are. Under typical conditions, if you have low humidity in your environment, you should supplement with the PET-1 either inside your guitar or in your case. And, if you have extreme conditions you are trying to recover from, such as a guitar that is cracked from being overly dry, you would want to use the PET-1 inside the guitar with the sound hole closed off. We did this with a 1966 barn find, Yamaha FG-180 - it took around 3 weeks to recover, and went from sounding awful, to regaining its renowned full bodied sound. If you can provide specifics about your situation we can provide recommendations accordingly.

Soak it first…

• Remove the plastic fastener holding the PET-1 together.
• Gently manipulate the outer shell allowing the polymer core 
to move toward the center of the PET-1, making sure none of the polymer is near either end.
• Using clean tap water, fill a container that’s large enough for the 
PET-1 to LAY FLAT. and submerge for approximately 25 minutes.
• Rest for 10 minutes. This will allow the polymer to absorb
 any residual water, safely locking it into the core as a solid.

The PET-1, simple in design uses high tech materials and should not be squeezed. The polymer core consists of a set of polymeric chains that are parallel to each other and are regularly linked to each other by cross-linking agents forming a network. When water comes into contact with one of these chains, it is drawn into the molecule by osmosis. Water then rapidly migrates into the interior of the polymer network where it is stored as a solid. Resting allows the chains to lock water into its internal structure making it LEAK FREE.

Then Dry it…

• Gently dry the monofilament outer shell with a cloth.
• The polymer core is a hi-tech absorbent – not a sponge. DO NOT SQUEEZE OR WRING OUT the PET-1 when handling.
• Excessive pressure can cause the polymer to extrude. Rarely, extrusion can occur on first hydration. If this happens, wipe away residue.

Slip it in the Sound Hole or next to your headstock…

• You’re done! Now you can start humidifying!
• Insert the PET-1 into the sound hole of your guitar, and 
humidify while you play.
• OR, place at the headstock in your case with a hygrometer at the sound hole
• Ensure your guitar case is clean and free from any bacteria or mould spores.

Taking it out is eazy peazy…

• Over time the PET-1 will shrink back in size, indicating that it is time to rehydrate.
• Remove by turning your guitar upside down and gently rotating the body until the PET-1 appears at the sound hole.

Answer:	I use these for my acoustic and archtop guitars. I do not use them for my solid body instruments. The choice is yours.

Answer:	The real question is can it even soak up any moisture. I soaked it for hours & it didn't soak up any moisture. I don't recommend this one to keep your instrument from drying out. I ended up tossing this & getting something better. Good luck.

Answer:	It's not supposed to get soft, unless you play a lot of soft rock on your guitar.... Okay, just kidding. ; ) The material soaks up water but it remains hard. I have to re-soak mine every two weeks or so.

Answer:	I don't see why it wouldn't be good for a hollow body. You would want to monitor the humidity closely so it isn't too high so you don't affect the electronics.
Question:	Is this actually the super? In the pictures it shows 11" long, but the description shows
Answer:	The Super dampit is 11" from tip to tip.
Question:	I feel really stupid, but how do you attach the dampit to the soundhole cover
Answer:	It's not a stupid question at all. The answer is not obvious from the photo. Even the instructions can be less than clear upon the first read. You don't attach the Dampit to the soundhole cover, you slip it between the strings of the guitar. The large black "button" on top of the dampit prevents it from slipping into your soundhold. It's sort of like placing a pencil that has a giant eraser between your fingers. The tension from your fingers hold it somewhat, then the large eraser stops it when it gets to your fingers. I hope that makes sense.
Question:	does this product come with the clear plastic soundhole cover
Answer:	If it is a Dampit brand specifically for guitar it should come with the cover. Mine did. I can see why you ask, it isn't in the photo on the product package, nor is it in the product description. I also checked their website which shows the cover for the regular one, but not for the super guitar humidifier. I bought the Super and it did come with the cover. The difference is the Super has a longer tube that holds more water. Make sure you follow the instructions on pinching out the excess water and wiping the exterior of the tube before placing it inside the guitar. They work so much better than the Oasis designs or planet waves. I think Dunlop makes one that looks just like the Dampit, but does not include the cover.But I digress ... yes, my Super Dampit for Guitar came with the clear plastic cover that is held in place by the strings. When it comes to kayaks with a sit-in cockpit, we recommend you check the measurements of your specific cockpit and compare with the kayak seat measurements identified on our website to confirm the fit. Typically, it's not a problem fitting any of our Kayak Seats with Backs into cockpits. But without the exact measurements, we cannot confirm for sure.
