11 best double bass drum pedal longboard
A double bass drum pedal with a longboard is a musical instrument accessory designed for drummers who want to achieve a double bass drumming technique on a drum set. This type of pedal is typically used in various music genres, including rock, metal, and fusion, where fast and precise footwork on the bass drum is essential. Here are some key features and aspects of a double bass drum pedal with a longboard:
Double Bass Drumming: The primary purpose of this pedal is to allow drummers to play two bass drums simultaneously with their feet. This is especially popular in heavy metal and other genres where fast and powerful bass drum patterns are common.
Longboard Design: The term "longboard" refers to the shape of the pedal footboard. A longboard design provides a larger, extended surface for the drummer's foot. This design can offer increased comfort and control, especially during extended periods of playing.
Adjustability: High-quality double bass drum pedals often come with various adjustable features. Drummers can adjust the tension, angle, and distance between the two beaters to customize their playing experience and achieve the desired response from the bass drums.
Durability: Double bass drum pedals are designed to withstand the rigorous demands of drumming, as they undergo a lot of footwork and force. Quality construction materials and craftsmanship are essential to ensure longevity and reliability.
Chain or Belt Drive: These pedals typically use either a chain or belt drive mechanism to transfer the foot's motion to the beater. Both options have their own feel and responsiveness, and drummers often have a preference for one over the other.
Compatibility: It's important to ensure that the double bass drum pedal is compatible with your specific drum set. Some pedals may be designed for particular drum kits or configurations, so compatibility is key.
Price Range: Double bass drum pedals with a longboard design can vary significantly in price, depending on the brand, quality, and features. High-end models tend to offer more adjustability and durability.
Brand Options: There are several well-known drum accessory manufacturers that produce double bass drum pedals, including brands like Pearl, DW (Drum Workshop), Tama, and others. Each brand may offer its unique features and design elements.
Drummers often experiment with different pedals and setups to find the one that suits their playing style and preferences best. The choice between a chain or belt drive, the pedal's adjustability, and the overall build quality are factors to consider when selecting a double bass drum pedal with a longboard design.

Question: | What is a electronic bass pedal sensor to get with this kicker? (does not work with the stock alesis dm6 nitro sensor |
Answer: | The Nitro DM6 Kick Tower does not work well with double kick pedals. It only triggers in the center of the pad and base design is too narrow to properly adjust pedal position. I use my Yamaha KP65 for double kick action. Great bounce back, excellent triggering and plugs right in the Nitro Kit. |
Question: | can tell me how to adjust the beater angle |
Answer: | dyou ever figure this out? trying to determine this myself |
Question: | Excuse me. Could this kind of pedal work to play fast like death metal |
Answer: | Yes and you only need one kick drum. The pedal has two beaters so it is possible. It is a good quality pedal and very affordable. |
Question: | Is the distance or width between pedals adjustable |
Answer: | Yes |

Few pedals have ever been as instantly popular as Tama's Speed Cobra. In the world of bass pedal design, speed and power had long been contrary qualities. One could not be accomplished without compromising the other. Speed Cobra was the first to break those boundaries, delivering both aggressive power and lightning fast speed! The Speed Cobra HP910LWN is a double-kick drum pedal for the serious player. The extra long, smooth surface footboards provide added leverage that minimize player effort, and encourage a wide variety of foot-slide techniques. The pedal's solid foundation can be attributed to its Super Stabilizer design that incorporates a wider baseplate and frame for absolute stability. At each pedals heel, the specially designed 3-piece Hinge Guard Block provides a more durable hinge point and slightly lengthens the footboards for enhanced speed and control. At the heart of the Speed Cobra HP910LWN is its recessed setting feature, which positions the top of each footboard back and away from the cams, resulting in a more natural and easy motion than conventional designs. The unique LiteSprocket Rolling Glide symmetrical cam incorporates a double-chain, which together with the HP910LNs longer footboard provides maximum speed and power throughout the entire cycle of the pedals stroke. The Speedo-Ring rocker cam is yet another example of streamlining, eliminating spring friction with a high-quality, built-in ball bearing rocker. The HP910LWN's Quick-Hook spring attachment eliminates wobbling, provides maximum power transmission to the Speedo-Ring, and helps facilitate quicker setup. To further improve speed and beater stroke action, the adjustable Cobra Coil spring-return constantly works to push the footboard back to its original position, tightening the relationship between players foot and the pedal.Perhaps one of the most ingenious developments of the Speed Cobra HP910LWN is its Swivel Spring Tight tension-locking mechanism, whic

User questions & answers
Question: | Does the cobra coil obstruct your ability to hit the head with as much power sense the spring is pushing the pedal the opposite direction |
Answer: | For me it doesn't. I can't tell it's even there. |
Question: | How long is the footboard from top to bottom??? Cant find that info anywhere |
Answer: | 11.5 inches from the top to the hinge, plus 1.75 inch flat for a total of 13.25 inches. I personally measured mine. |
Question: | what makes these better thtan the |
Answer: | the clamp adjustment to hold on the bass drum is much better, for drummers that move their kits around constantly for gigs these will hold up much longer. there are a few other changes that are hard to catch but basically this is a longer lasting pedal. the beaters are also a higher quality. for a casual, non-traveling drummer the 310s are a great cheaper alternative |
Question: | Does it come with the case |
Answer: | Yes it comes with a Hard shell case that can take some hits. It is pretty good. |

Question: | does it comes with a drum key |
Answer: | yes |
Question: | Will it work with the Alesis drum pad |

An industry standard gets even better. We've reengineered the pedal that established our reputation for innovation and quality. Because innovation is part of our DNA we thought it was time for some major improvements. Most notably, the toe clamp. The 5000 needed more gripping strength, providing a stronger connection between the drummer and kick drum. So, we developed the Tri-Pivot Toe Clamp (U.S. Patent No. 8330032). Three independent 360 degree, rotating rubber pads firmly pinch almost any diameter and thickness bass drum counter hoop from the top and the bottom, with zero slippage. Add to that a new textured rubber grip pad on the base plate and we think you'll agree that there’s never been a better system for attaching a pedal to a bass drum. Last, but certainly not least, we wanted to improve on the smoothness and feel of the 5000, if that was even possible. To accomplish this, we added a Dual Bearing Spring Rocker, making the 5000 quicker and more responsive. The Turbo (TD4) concentric drive system maintains a direct relationship between the sprocket and the footboard to provide a solid, powerful, consistent feel and response.
- Dual-Chain Turbo Sprocket
- Tri-Pivot Toe Clamp (U.S. Patent No. 8330032)
- Delta II Ball Bearing Hinge (U.S. Patent No. 5431081)

- Non-Skid Rubber Pad

Question: | What makes this better than the |
Answer: | This clave is louder enough, so I think you can play it at outside. |
Question: | I already have the dw5000, is there any way to just buy the extension to make it double bass, or do i need to rebuy the whole setup |
Answer: | Hit them against each other for a great percussion sound higher in pitch than a drum but very simple to keep a beat and fun to use. Great addition to an ensemble. |
Question: | which has more power between dw AD vs dw TD |
Answer: | As well as any other temple block would. I would personally flip the brush around to get a louder, more articulate sound from it though. This definitely produces a better sound than a plastic “jam block” with brushes. Hope this was helpful. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does anyone have any issues with this pedal "sliding" forward while playing with an E drum kit? Seems to be an issue with E drums |
Answer: | Adam T. is correct. I would imagine even an electronic kit needs some type of carpet under it for the kick and hi-hat pedals. |
Question: | Can i replace the beaters with the dw felt ones |
Answer: | They are felted on one side and plastic on the other. Take a beater and check the size of you want to change them. |
Question: | What's the size of the footboard? They are longboards |
Answer: | Not sure of the actual size but they are not long boards |
Question: | How does this pedal compare to the Iron Cobra 600?Does anyone have any experience with both pedals? Tks |
Answer: | The iron cobra is a great pedal, however, IMO the DW is smoother. I didn't have enough money to buy the 9000 series but if you do the 9000 is so unbelievably amazing. The 3000 is great for my needs currently. |

Question: | Anyone put any really good beaters on it yet? Any recommendations |
Answer: | I play Brutal Death Metal and I still have the beaters that came on it and they do just fine for me. |
Question: | I play bass drum pedals with heel down (physical problems don't allow me to really go heel to toe), size 13 inch shoe. can this pedal accomodate tha |
Answer: | I looked up some of the reviews. It does say some people have a 13 inch shoe and it does accomadate that. This is from what i read. Hope it works for ya! |
Question: | I know this question was already asked but I need a bit more precise answer. How long is the foot plate (the one you press down on |
Answer: | I measure them at 11 31/32" or just a hair under 12" at the surface or where you foot rest. My size 12 foot with a shoe on easily fits as there is room from the plate to the chain but my son generally uses the ball of his foot in the center for better speed. |
Question: | Hello, do you have a case to sell with this pedal |
Answer: | sorry it didn't come in a case it just came in a box... :-( |

Iron Cobra 600 Series Double Bass Drum Pedal. The Iron Cobra 600 series by Tama are a new addition to the Iron Cobra family. Its most striking feature is a changeable cam. Drummers can choose the appropriate action based on playing style, musical environment, and personal preference. Iron Cobra 600 series pedals also feature a newly designed hinge for precise footboard action, and the "Speedo-Ring" rocker cam with a smooth ball bearing. - Double Chain Drive offers power and accuracy
- Newly designed hinge provides greater precision and durability
- Speedo-Ring reduces friction by replacing the conventional nylon rocker with a built-in, high-quality ball bearing
- Drummers can choose the appropriate action based on playing style, musical environment, and personal preference
User questions & answers
Question: | does this have a cobra coil under foot board |
Answer: | This model does not come with the cobra coil. BUT, you can buy the coil attachment kit for about $50, which is considerably cheaper than buying the 900. Also, from what I've heard from other drummers the coil is basically marketing propaganda. I bought the 600 series and they are phenomenal. I only wished I had bought the speed cobras for the longer footboard (big feet problems). Other than that you won't have any problems or regrets with these awesome pedals. I am not sponsored or affiliated with Tama in anyway, but everything I use is Tama and for good reason. |
Question: | can you use these for electric sets |
Answer: | Yes they mount up to the bass drum with no problem. I have the Roland 25 electric drum set. It works great. Hope this helps.. |
Question: | What does it come in |
Answer: | A cardboard box. |
Question: | How long can the driveshaft be extended? Basically, how far apart can you put the pedals |
Answer: | I've had mine extended as fare apart as it will go 2 feet. Or think if you have 14" and your two knees, about 5" each.It will exstend about another 5" more. If your were asking can it go to far and strip or something, not a problem. I'm very hard on pedals and the Iron cobra is yet to fail. Happy drummingP.S.I regret not getting the anniversary edition. And yes the cobra coils do make a difference. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have had these for a couple of years and they have never felt comfortable. Any suggestions on getting the right tension and feel |
Answer: | The one I have was not set up properly by the factory. I can only guess that yours was not as well. I had to remove the ends of the shaft where the springs attach and realign the splines to allow more hammer throw. When I first set it up it didnt feel powerful at all. After some tinkering I was able to get it to pound. |
Question: | Can you turn the pedal into a direct drive |
Answer: | I don’t think there’s a way to convert the chain drive to a direct drive. I do have to say that the pedal is extremely intuitive, it just takes a little bit of time to dial it in. |
Question: | I have the dw 2000 series and really dont like it. i am a death metal drummer and i need to upgrade my double pedal. is this one will do the job vs |
Answer: | It's a very good pedal for the price. With that being said it may not be up to your standards with the abuse you will be putting it thru. As far as the dw I've never owned one. For the double bass I put it thru not bad at all. But of your double pedaling thru your set list. Prolly not. |
Question: | Where do the 20g weights go on these pedals |
Answer: | There is an interchangeable weight inside both beaters. They come with 10 oz., but with an Allen wrench, you can take them out and replace with the 20 oz. if wanted |

User questions & answers
Question: | are these good for heel toe playing |
Answer: | I don’t play much heel toe, however I really like the pedal and they can be adjusted for any style. My research found keeping the beater at 45 degrees and the springs as tight as they go and they respond really well. Hope this helps |
Question: | including plastic case or nylon bag |
Answer: | It includes a pretty nice nylon bag. |
Question: | is it made in Taiwan |
Answer: | USA |
Question: | How's the reliability of this so far to all? I have a Gibraltar that's over 25-years old I need to replace...its 25-years old |
Answer: | We got the 9000 for my father last year and it feels like a tank. I've been using a 5000 for around 10 and it seems like the day I got it. I'm not a super heavy user though. More of a casual in home drummer. |

User questions & answers
Question: | will it hold a remo 8 inch pad |
Answer: | Many things. This has Delta II Ball Bearing Hinge, which will make it much more smooth, the Delta Dual-Chain Turbo Sprocket vs. single chain and the Tri-Pivot Toe Clamp, which is a better mechanism to attach to BD. And the list goes on.... |
Question: | What about the product |
Answer: | I believe you'd have to buy the double pedal as it has the two beaters built into the master pedal. If you're on the fence, I've tried a lot of double bass pedals (some much more expensive than these) but I finally found happiness with the DW 5002. Of course, your mileage may vary. Also, I don't think you'd have any problem selling the 5000 to help with the cost. |
Question: | how high will this adjust to? I need to stand and play a snare drum |
Answer: | AD id say, those are best sellers |
Question: | Will this hold a 12" snare |
Answer: | No, no sirve para tocar tambor |
