Question:	does anyone know if this would work well for guitar playing? No actual foot rest but could possibly use top of one of the legs
Answer:	From a height stand point it would be fine, but I would think for guitar you would want a foot rest. Not sure this will do. I bought it thinking I could use for playing timpani but way too low, so I purchased a timpani throne. I gave this one to my friend that plays drum set and it’s perfect for that. You may prefer a Roc-n-Soc stool for guitar that has foot rest. Some have backs as well. But they are a bit pricey.

The back rest, that depends on how you sit, or if you are use to playing really high, meaning the seat extended all the way up, also your physical height has some part in it. I am a short person 5'6" so use the throne very high up, and do sit back for some sequences. I do both, lean forward and sit back. but the back rest is not adjustable, that would have been nice.

I can’t say how it will be for a drumming chair since I know nothing about drumming, but it is a great stool and I would highly recommend. The quality is very good for the price. Answer:	The backrest is definitely not "universal" - even for Gibraltar thrones. The attachment bracket is made to attach to certain models of Gibraltar thrones, but not all of them. Attaching to a throne that doesn't have the "receiver" part of bracket would be very difficult. (The bottom of the throne would likely have to be modified and reinforced.)

Answer:	I bought a new one and had the same problem you describe. After many interactions with Amazon and then Gibraltar customer service I was finally told that this unit only fits select Gibraltar thrones. Unless your throne has a receiver-style bracket, factory installed, you’re not likely to get a solid installation. (Wood or sheet metal screws screwed into the bottom of your seat will likely never hold. Gibraltar staff eventually confirmed this.) After a great deal of hassle Amazon refunded the purchase price and said they’d pull the item, given the erroneous product description, but apparently they didn’t. I’d be happy to share my email exchanges with Gibraltar and Amazon if that would be helpful.

Answer:	This seat only just works for me and I'm about 270. It's a great seat and I thoroughly recommend it however for a guy your size you should probly go for something larger in the seat. Answer:	They are vinyl. Very durable. If you play like my husband then you sweat. They are very easy to clean. Very sturdy and worth the money.

Answer:	My wife uses large luggage bags to move her drum equipment around, and the throne fits, but takes up most of the large luggage bag. The seat and the back have to be carefully packed to make it fit. I don't know if they allow the huge luggage size bags anymore, so that you would have to check. Thus - CHECKED LUGGAGE ONLY at best. Please note that we have not tried to get any of her drum things checked for a flight. I am only saying they can fit.

Answer:	I’m 6’ and 207lbs, and it seems plenty sturdy for me. As far as height, it should have plenty of range for you.

Answer:	The triangular-shaped, bicycle-style seat is generally preferred by the larger and/or heavier drummers, which would include pretty much anyone over 250 lbs. Unfortunately, many drum thrones look exactly alike when viewed as black & white photographs online. The less-expensive thrones are only designed to accommodate children weighing up to 150 lbs. Conventional drum thrones can safely handle most adults in the 150-250 pound range. Anyone heavier than that should definitely look into the triangular-shaped seats - that can certainly cost up to several hundred dollars (ouch!) - but can safely accommodate an adult weighing in at 350 lbs. Another alternative would be to consider the kind of seats that are intended to be used as replacement seats in pleasure craft (motor boats).

Answer:	It swivels if you loosen up the wing nut, but there are no swivel bearings. It feels a little loose when is swivels. My son likes to loosen the wing nut to make it swivel. I prefer it not swiveling though. It's easy enough to loosen or tighten the wing nut. It's a large thick metal chrome plated wing nut, so it's no big deal to adjust it.

Contact Roc N Soc for assistance. I don't use the back, but plan on buying one. This is a great seat, which I use for keyboard.
