12 best trombone case
A trombone case is an essential accessory for musicians who play the trombone, a brass instrument. It serves as a protective container for the trombone when it is not in use or when transporting it to rehearsals, performances, or lessons. Here is some information about trombone cases:
Protection: The primary purpose of a trombone case is to protect the instrument from damage during transportation. Trombones are delicate and can be easily dented or scratched, so a sturdy case is crucial to ensure the instrument's safety.
Materials: Trombone cases are typically constructed from durable materials such as hard plastic, wood, or fabric-covered hardshell cases. These materials provide a protective barrier against external impacts and environmental factors.
Padding: Inside the case, there is usually a padded interior lining made of foam or plush fabric. This padding helps cushion the instrument and prevents it from moving around inside the case, reducing the risk of damage.
Compartments: Trombone cases often come with compartments or pockets for storing accessories such as mouthpieces, slide lubricants, cleaning supplies, and sheet music. This keeps everything needed for playing the trombone organized and easily accessible.
Handles and Straps: Most trombone cases have handles or straps for convenient carrying. Some cases also come with backpack-style straps for hands-free transportation.
Locks and Latches: To secure the instrument, trombone cases typically feature latches or locks. These help keep the case securely closed during transport and prevent accidental openings.
Size and Fit: Trombone cases are designed to fit specific types and models of trombones. It's essential to choose a case that matches the size and shape of your instrument to ensure a snug and secure fit.
Weight: While providing protection is crucial, the weight of the case is also a consideration, especially for musicians who need to carry their trombone over long distances. Lightweight cases with adequate protection are often preferred.
Aesthetics: Trombone cases come in various styles and finishes, allowing musicians to choose a case that suits their personal preferences and aesthetics.
Customization: Some trombone players opt for customized or personalized cases, which may include custom colors, logos, or additional features tailored to their needs.
In summary, a trombone case is a vital accessory for trombone players, providing protection and convenience when transporting and storing their instruments. These cases come in various materials, sizes, and designs to cater to different preferences and needs within the musical community.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this bag fit a trombone with an open wrap (F-attachment |
Answer: | I've never tried to fit an F attachment trombone in it, but I would imagine that it fits just fine. |
Question: | yo daughter will be walking 1/2 mile to/from bus stop w/backpack, lunchbox, etc. Will this be too bulky, awkward to walk with? She’s 5 feet tall |
Answer: | It might be. On the other hand it will indeed provide critically-needed protection of the horn. She would likely use the shoulder strap mode. For a 5-footer the backpack mode would be a bit much. If she has a large bore trigger horn, it is probably just right. If she has a small-bore straight horn perhaps something a little smaller and less bulky would function. |
Question: | Will a f trigger horn fit in this case |
Answer: | I haven't tried to fit an F attachment into this case, but I would imagine it would fit just fine. My tenor horn has a good amount of extra space. |
Question: | Where is the built in mouthpiece and organiser? I just got it and it says that there is one but I can't find it |
Answer: | This doesn't look like the same one I have. Mine has 2 pockets on the outside, one for music and the other for small stuff like a mouthpiece. It also has a slide pocket. Sorry, can't help you with this. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this case fit an Etude trombone that measures 82 cm (from end to end of the slide piece |
Answer: | Sorry this case not fit your trombone at measures 82cm, anyway we are working on the new model which could fit your trombone at 82cm , the new model will be introduced to market June 2020 |
Question: | Will the ABS case accommodate a slide that is 10cm wide and 79cm long |
Answer: | My slide (1962 Conn 6H) is about 10 cm wide (OD). The case fits this dimension. My slide is 75 cm from outside of curved end of slide (not counting the tip at the end) to outside of the crossmember closest to the mouthpiece (72 cm on the spec list at Crossrock site?). I had to cut some of the styrofoam at the crossemember end to make my slide fit. I don't think I cut 3 cm away, but the slide is now a tight fit, which is fine with me (I suspected this would be necessary when I ordered the case, and crossed my fingers that I could make it work). I do not know if your 79 cm dimension is the overall length of the slide, including the bell attachment. This dimension is unimportant for fit of the case. The tube extensions (mouthpiece, bell attachment) have no restrictions. The restriction is the crossmember. |
Question: | Will this case fit a small bore king 3b? I dont see any information about the size |
Answer: | It fits my Bach 6 and 36. I put a Hercules stand in the bell and that helps it fit in the case more snugly. 3b is bigger than the 6 and smaller than the 36, so it should fit. The thing is built like a tank. Really good protection. |
Question: | will this fit an open wrap shires trombone? 8 1/2 inch bell |
Answer: | According to the bell dimension, it should be fitted. Please check the inside dimensions of the case before placing orders. The inside dimensions: Length: 80cm (31.5”) Width: 27cm (10.6”) Depth (for bell): 26.5cm (10.4”) |

Question: | How does this compare with the mx306ct? i tried the mx306ct for my olds recording and it was a bit large in areas. is this a better fit |
Answer: | I use this gig bag for my old olds. It fits great but I have to push the tuning slide in for the bell section to fit well. It's a beautiful well constructed light weight, hard case. Question: | How big is the outside pocket? Is it large enough for a binder |
Answer: | no, not big enough for 12 X 12 binder. Can hold some cleaning stuff though. |
Question: | What is the exact length of the outside pocket |

Question: | Is there room to fit a small 12 in laptop in this case |
Answer: | Hello Connor I would tell you this, you can try to see if the 12inch laptop fits in the backpack , if so you are good to go. I haven't tried to fit my laptop in the backpack but I will try it |
Question: | Could one ride a bike with this on their back |
Answer: | Yep! That's what my brother uses it for every day. |
Question: | Will this fit a hard case (with trombone inside) or just the trombone |
Answer: | If I were to guess...just the trombone. We do have my son's book inside along with his slide oil and cleaning kit. I would doubt that a full sized hard case would fit inside. We like it. It's light weight and he caries like a backpack. It won't be as good of protection as though. Good luck. |

Question: | does the bell and slide fit in the same big pocet |
Answer: | No, there is a smaller pocket on the side for the slide. The bell goes in the big pocket which also has a small pocket inside for the mouthpiece. |
Question: | Can you fit an f attachment contoured hard case inside this case |
Answer: | No, this s for a plastic non f attachment trombone, no case |
Question: | Is thiscase compatible with trombone with a F attachment |
Answer: | I would have to say no. I have two large bell trombones (Conn 62H and Reynolds Contempora) and there's no way they'd fit. There's no padding or protection to say of. I have an old Conn tenor that fits snugly in it. I would want something with more protection for my trombone with "F" attachment. |
Question: | Does this fit with a tenor trombone |
Answer: | It is a lightweight gig bag for the plastic Tenor trombone or Pbone....Would probably fit, but is pretty thin. Thanks for your interest. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the length of the slide compartment and the width of the bell side compartment where the f attachment would sit |
Answer: | The slide compartment is about 31 inches long, which would fit a standard Bach, Getzen/Edwards bass slide. The bell accommodates a 9.5 inch bell. I would not try to force a 10.5 inch bell into this case. |
Question: | Is this a hard case, like the skb, covered by vinyl? i mean, does it have a skeleton |
Answer: | Hi.. This is a canvas-covered over hard-vinyl felt-covered shell much like other china made cases, but most of them are styrofoam -covered shells |
Question: | Would a typical UMI trombone stand fit in the side pocket |
Answer: | Can't tell about the UMI, however, I have had this bag for a couple of years and the K&M stand fits in just fine, along with tuner, glasses case. mouthpiece pouch, water etc. |
Question: | Will this fit a C valve trombone |
Answer: | I'm not really sure what a C valve trombone is. I don't think a traditional valve trombone will fit in this case. The bell section would be ok but you would have to use rags to take up excess space where the Velcro strap goes over the bell and neckpipe section because it's intended to accept a bass bone. The slide compartment is in the top half of the case and has a door hinged from the bottom. I doubt it would accommodate a valve section instead of a normal slide without modification. I use it for a Jupiter XO .547 with an axial valve. I put a rag over the horn where the strap touches and wad the extra rag between the neckpipe and bottom of the case to eliminate movement. Hope this helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it fit a 42 BO with thayer valve |
Answer: | It can but with your slides pushed in all of the way. |
Question: | Is this same as Protec PB306CT? Can it be a carry-on to airplane? Is it safe for gate-check |
Answer: | I carry my Protec trombone case on the airplane all the time. I have gate-checked it as well without incident but it's best to keep the case close to you so you can be sure it is handled safely. |
Question: | will a king 3b tenor trombone fit snuggly, or will the bell bounce around |
Answer: | I use it for a King SilverSonic 2B and a Bach 42 BO, and both horns stay in place. There is a plush strap with Velcro on one side that holds the bell part of the horn snug and in place. This is my go-to case for carrying my trombones around. |
Question: | I want the black with the larger outside pocket, not the grey style with the smaller pocket. Is this the style that is shipped |
Answer: | yes. The black one has one large pocket almost the lenght of case on the outside. Least the one that we purchased. This is a great case! |
