User questions & answers

Question: This may be a dumb question but, is this for both right and left handed players
Answer: Right handed
Question: I am purchasing as a gift for my husband and I am wondering about the different between nato, mahogany, and rosewood
Answer: I bought the mahogany because I play more mellow jazz and mahogany has a more mellow sound to me. Rosewood has a brighter tone more fitted to rock.
Question: Hi. is it really solid top? love the guitar sound, but i see a little seam going across the top dividing it into two halves? tnx
Answer: It is a what is called a solid top guitar. It is two pieces of solid wood. Its hard to find a tree big enough to cut a one piece top out of. This is normal for all guitar manufactures even big name brands. Oh and by the way Yamaha is a big name in guitar. Probably the most consistent in quality an construction. Best bang for the buck out there. I have many guitars and in a blind test of family and friends all say my A1R sounds the best. Yes I have more expensive other brands one is all solid top and body but none compare. The sound will only get better with age with your FGX830C YOU HAVE CHOSEN WISELY.
Question: Which is the best fgx830 or fgx

User questions & answers

Question: Does Amazon have a package deal that includes a case with the white "600" model
Answer: I did not see a package offer when I was buying mine.
Question: how thick is the width? and is this "real" wood or particle board
Answer: The width is the same as my cell phone. The wood is solid of course. The top sides and back may be laminate but by no means is it some cheap "particle board".. Remember the cost is budget friendly and the materials are too. But Yamaha has a very nice sounding and playing guitar here for a very reasonable price. In my 40 years of playing is it the best..no..is it a great guitar for the price...Absolutely!
Question: What is a good gig bag for this
Answer: I bought the hard case for it and it fits perfect. Case has a small cubby for strings, picks, strap. Can't help you with a soft gig bag. Yamaha AG2-HC Hardshell Acoustic Guitar Case for APX and NTX Series https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D53JG5I/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apap_jzHYy5wurOYGp
Question: how wide is the body in inches? my rogue rd80 (dread) is 16" wide and i hate it, im looking for something smaller than
Answer: This guitar is 42.2 x 5 x 19.7 inches. It doesn't seem like a child's guitar at all. I'm quite small and it's very comfortable. If the specs are not on the Amazon page where it is sold, it should not be trusted. I bought the 400 when it came out and the 600 when the 500 was no longer available. If size is important, I would try one at a guitar or music store.

  • Meranti back & sides
  • Rosewood fingerboard & bridge, natural finish
  • Strings scale 25.6 inches, body depth 3.15 - 3.3 inches, finger board width (Nut/Body) 2.05 inches

User questions & answers

Question: How wide is the neck of the guitar around the top 5 frets
Answer: About 2 inches.
Question: does the 1/2 size have a two tone top? The picture shows a slight line running down the middle that appears to be two tones/two pieces
Answer: Yes, the top is two pieces of laminated spruce. This is a standard practice for just about every guitar manufacturer.
Question: I'm a 4'10" adult with tiny baby hands. Looking for smaller guitar so certain chords are easier to play. Which size should I get
Answer: This probably won't do, as the fretboard is rather wide. A parlor guitar is more your fit. The Little Martin or be the Peavey Composer is small, but sound good. Check them out.
Question: Is there an option to have it strung for a left-handed child
Answer: You can always string a guitar backwards, but as a lefty who plays right-handed, I'd strongly urge having the child learn the normal way. So many times you wind up at a party where there's a guitar, and if you can't play it because you've learned a non-standard way, you've severely limited your opportunities. Besides, the left hand which does the fretting has an advantage for a lefty.

User questions & answers

Question: Tuner works fine except on two strings- E & A, on both it shows arrow all to right and doesn’t move when trying to tune
Answer: May be your item I do not have that issue sorry
Question: Truss rod
Answer: Yes, it has an adjustable truss rod.
Question: What is the difference between the "solid spruce top" and the "spruce top" options (besides
Answer: From what I've read on forums (sorry, that's my only source) if it doesn't say "solid," then it's laminate, a delicate word meaning plywood. Solid spruce will season and "open up" over time. Laminated spruce tops will not. Again, I don't know this first hand. Just what I've gleaned from online guitar forums.Jim
Question: Why does the product headline say 1/2 size for the JR2 and the description says it is a 1/4 size
Answer: I know a lot about guitars. The headline is not accurate, it is really a 3/4 size acoustic guitar. In the description, the 21 1/4 is the scale length of the strings, not the size of the guitar. A full size guitar is in the 24-25 inch range. I purchased one of these years ago for my 10 year old grandson. It’s perfect for a youngster. Hopefully that helps

User questions & answers

Question: Does this have a curved or flat fretboard
Answer: Mine has a beautiful radiused (curved) rosewood fretboard that plays like a dream. I own 9 acoustic guitars, including a couple of Martins and Taylors, and my APX T2 is the best-playing guitar I own right now. The neck is smooth, fast, and very responsive to the even most gentle caress. I can actually do things with it that I can't really do on my others, or at least not as good. It feels like it was custom-made just for my hands. Keep in mind that I take really good care of my guitars. because they keep the rent paid and the lights on. I clean the fretboard every time I change strings, with a moisturizing cleaner (Murphy's Oil Soap), and do a quick-polish on the frets. If you exercise less meticulous care, your mileage may vary. However, I believe that with even modest care, anyone would be happy with the neck on this great little axe. I can't say it enough...this guitar is a winner!
Question: does this product come with steal strings
Answer: You shouldn't steal things. Especially guitar strings. It.s bad luck. They will snap and put your eye out.
Question: Just ordered an APXT2 and want to order a hardshell case. I can't seem to find the demensions. Could someone post the length & width please
Answer: Most who buy this guitar that want a hard-shell case elect to go with the SKB 300 Baby Taylor/Baby Martin case which fits this guitar perfectly. You can order one through Walmart for $79.
Question: Does this guitar come with nylon strings or steel strings
Answer: This one comes with steel strings, But we do have models with nylon , Fuller's Guitar 713-880-2188
