12 best yamaha starter acoustic guitars

Yamaha is a well-respected brand in the musical instrument industry, known for producing a wide range of high-quality instruments, including acoustic guitars. They offer a selection of starter acoustic guitars tailored for beginners. Here are some key points about Yamaha starter acoustic guitars:

  1. Steel String Acoustics: Yamaha starter acoustic guitars typically feature steel strings. Steel string guitars produce a bright and crisp tone, making them suitable for a variety of musical styles, including pop, rock, folk, and more.

  2. Acoustic Guitars: These guitars are designed to be played without the need for amplification. They produce sound through the vibration of the strings, which resonates through the guitar's body, creating a natural acoustic tone.

  3. Guitars for Beginners: Yamaha's starter acoustic guitars are crafted with the beginner in mind. They are designed to be easy to play, with comfortable neck profiles and low action (the distance between the strings and the fretboard). This makes it easier for beginners to press down on the strings and form chords.

  4. Affordable and Budget-Friendly: Yamaha's starter acoustic guitars are generally priced to be accessible for beginners who may not want to make a substantial initial investment. Despite their affordability, these guitars maintain Yamaha's reputation for quality craftsmanship.

  5. Variety of Models: Yamaha offers a range of starter acoustic guitar models to cater to different preferences and needs. These models may vary in body shape, size, and tonewood choices. Some popular series for beginners include the Yamaha F, FG, and JR series.

  6. Reliable Build Quality: Yamaha is known for its consistent and reliable build quality. Even their entry-level guitars are crafted with attention to detail, ensuring a good playing experience for beginners.

  7. Additional Features: Some Yamaha starter acoustic guitars may come with features like cutaways (allowing easier access to higher frets), built-in electronics for amplification, and different finishes to suit personal preferences.

Remember, when choosing a starter acoustic guitar, it's important to consider factors like comfort, playability, and the style of music you intend to play. It's also a good idea to try out different models in person, if possible, to see which one feels the most comfortable for you.

User questions & answers

Question: How do you attach the guitar strap? There aren’t instructions for it and I don’t see attachments
Answer: There is a place on the bottom of the guitar to attach one end. The other end has a smaller string that can be attached to the strap using the little metal clip. I just used the smaller loop to make a loop around the end of the neck of the guitar (under the strings) and attached it that way. Most guitars have another button on the other side of the main body behind the neck, but this one does not.
Question: Do you have to put the strings on
Answer: No. The strings are already on.
Question: Please share the Return policy on this item
Answer: I don’t know. It came in perfect condition.
Question: Can this guitar be hooked up to an amp
Answer: Sorry, no this one can not. It's a beautiful sounding guitar, but no amp connection.

User questions & answers

Question: This may be a dumb question but, is this for both right and left handed players
Answer: Right handed
Question: I am purchasing as a gift for my husband and I am wondering about the different between nato, mahogany, and rosewood
Answer: I bought the mahogany because I play more mellow jazz and mahogany has a more mellow sound to me. Rosewood has a brighter tone more fitted to rock.
Question: Hi. is it really solid top? love the guitar sound, but i see a little seam going across the top dividing it into two halves? tnx
Answer: It is a what is called a solid top guitar. It is two pieces of solid wood. Its hard to find a tree big enough to cut a one piece top out of. This is normal for all guitar manufactures even big name brands. Oh and by the way Yamaha is a big name in guitar. Probably the most consistent in quality an construction. Best bang for the buck out there. I have many guitars and in a blind test of family and friends all say my A1R sounds the best. Yes I have more expensive other brands one is all solid top and body but none compare. The sound will only get better with age with your FGX830C YOU HAVE CHOSEN WISELY.
Question: Which is the best fgx830 or fgx
Answer: even better than fgx830 and fgx830 is the fgx830

User questions & answers

Question: Is it high or low action
Answer: In my opinion it's extremely HIGH. It was so high that I took it to my guitar luthier who said " it's unplayable like that" He had to shave off a little of the bridge, adjust the Nut grooves and dress a couple of high frets at the 12th to get it in reasonable shape and for myself to be happy with it. The bass E is 2mm above the 12th fret now so within bounds. She plays and sounds okay but it's not my favourite guitar by a long chalk to be honest. Spends more time in its case!
Question: Is it comfortable
Answer: This was my first guitar. I found it very comfortable but then I bought a Taylor mini. Each has its place I still play then both
Question: What is the nut width? (inches
Answer: 1.75" -Jesus The Music Store
Question: my old yamaha drives me nuts, because of the buzz sounds with the strings. If I buy this one will it buzz
Answer: One of the best options is to use the buzz in your style. No doubt it’s not an all out buzz all of the time. So incorporate it as an emphasis at certain pints. Old phenomenal guitarists played what they had, got really good at it and used funky quirks on their guitar to add some flavor. The other option. Play each string at each fret, isolate the buzz and decide what the next option is. If the guitar has been climate controlled and is in a steady state, you may find sanding the buzzing fret down (just on the string that buzzes), with the fretboard well protected with a high grit paper, the right answer. This could also be the beginning of chasing the buzz down the neck to the next fret. It could be a nut or bridge adjustment that’s the answer. Truss rod is not where the adjustments usually start. My point, it comes down to a proficient luthier or someone who might be willing to take the time to get everything right. Cheap guitars can sometimes sound great after a $1000 in labor or equivalent time has been invested. Guitars aren’t a set it and forget it object. Nature works against them and time can be an enemy. If you’re really serious, you’ll take it somewhere regularly to have it tweaked to fight the elements working against it. Anyway, Americans spend $1,000s on frivolous hobbies. This is a pretty cheap one if you start with a decently constructed guitar and then just figure you’ll care for it over the years. Either learn to do the maintenance yourself or pay someone whose invested their time to learn it... or barter. One cool thing if you learn the craft, you can find old guitars and go through them, make the adjustments and get some very unique stuff that’s cool in its own way. Yamaha is a solid built instrument —from their drums to guitars to pianos. A buzz is definitely no reason to avoid the brand. Otherwise, every brand and nearly every model will be a problem at some time or other.

Answer: Hello, thanks for writing in! The FG830 features laminated rosewood back and sides and a spruce top. The FG840 features that same spruce top, but laminated flamed maple back and sides. Question: What type of music is FG 840 best for
Answer: Folk music, bluegrass, contemporary, country music, etc. I play a bunch if different music styles, as I play some classic rock. The guitar is great for strumming, flat picking and finger picking. It's a very versatile guitar and I absolutely love it. It's bright sounding, but since I've had it for almost 2 years the guitar has opened up more and sounds warmer. Great guitar
Question: Is this good guitar for a begginer
Answer: These are really excellent guitars! I originally ordered the FS800 for a gift, but it turned out to be a bit small and exchanged it for the 840. Really nice sound and came setup ready to go!
